  1. While I agree that the anti-access crowd will want us out no matter what, even if we are 100% silent but the point is, at least here in the Colorado area being quiet keeps those that are NOT anti's from turning into anti's. Globally we are all being forced into smaller and smaller areas, we all have to share, while one point of view says the anti's are "selfish" for wanting quiet, are we being selfish for being as loud as we want? 98% of the population does not give a rats behind if we ride or not, and those 98% would NEVER know we were out there if we were just quiet. Being loud turns the average joe against us.
  2. Alright I'm a newby around here so I'll jump in and give you my first trials wreck (since I've only had the bike 4 days) Got home from work a bit early, temps are nice so I fired up the new bike to do some balance practice in the back yard... While doing figure 8's I got a bit close to the kids swing hanging from the big tree in the back of the house and got the bars hung up in the rope. Go down pretty fast that way... Glad there were no witnesses!
  3. I told Bill to give me a week or three to get used to the bike. I'm playing "Mr balance" in the garage each night and not doing well. The gyro effect of the motor helps when running, but can't do that with the kids asleep upstairs. I'm heading east this coming weekend, my Grandma passed (we were really close) so off to Iowa for the funeral
  4. I had 5MOH kick my backside on my KTM 453 Enduro bike...thus my new-to-me Beta Rev 3 I can't wait to go back with the "right tools"
  5. Was told my "new to me" '00 REV-3 is a 270 The "manual" (such that it is) says 250, but I have no idea if this book goes with this bike. Is there a marking on the motor that will let me know for sure?
  6. Ok, but YOU have to explain that to my wife!
  7. Ouch 7 bills US (that's almost 1/2 what I paid for the bike!)
  8. Good it sounds like they have kept it (or returned it to) singletrack. As I said, it's been a while. back around 2002, all they had was carsonite posts denoting no ATV and the ATV's had pushed through, leaving damage in their wake. I even caught a couple 2 up on the trail and confronted them...the reply? "Gee we wondered why the trail was so skinny!" I know they have put up full scale "gates" to limit access to wide vehicles now. There is a place not far from there...miles of singletrack. So I don't make it that way much anymore.
  9. I've ridden Gilsonite many times on my KTM. Great fun. Couple of years back the quads had pushed through (with chain saws) and destroyed most of it's "flavor" I hear they have tried to restore the singletrack character...I have not been back since seeing the atv trail through the wetlands next to the singletrack bridge...
  10. I noticed on the site that is scheduled to be available in Feb of '08 Anyone seen one, availablity and cost by chance? This would be just the ticket for my rides.
  11. Yes the snow is a bear this year...looks like a late access year for my beloved singletrack. But Denver, even if we get storms, usually is bare a day or two later (shhh, don't tell anyone) so with my little 1/4 acre of back yard I have enough room to learn to balance
  12. Hello All, Some may know me from KTMtalk and Thumpertalk. After "wanting one" for years and attending 4 different Endurocross races and drooling over the trials bikes... Looks like it's gonna happen. I have an appointment next week to pick up a '00 Beta REV 3 I'm really excited, hope to get to know a bunch of you fine folks here on the board.
