Hello every one! i'm new to the site and im goin to restore a yamaha ty 250 mono shock over the winter, the only problem is that i dont have a manual. im sure you come across this question alot but i would really apreciate your help. Does anybody know website where i could download one or even a shop that i can buy one from? Sam

Anyone have any idea where I could get a TYz rear mudguard? or has anyone got a 2nd hand one they no longer require? condition not important cheers Ant

I have just purchased a TY 250 mono, white frame silver wheels.Engine number 53Y but no numbers(common on Jap mkt bikes) Frame no begins 3BB 000*** It has a Mitani flywheel cover, Eikoh silencer tail pipe and a guard on the black silencer box next to your left leg. Also a well made fibreglass tank cover that bolts over original tank. The r mudguard is solid, no holes for a r light etc, sadly it is split.I am wondering if it is a Grey import, I bought it from Staffordshire. Any info appreciated, thanks in advance

Do anyone know were a can find new intake rubber to my TY250 twinshock?

Hi, I hope some one can point me in the right direction! I have a Ty250 pinky and it has a power problem. It runs spot on at the bottom end but sounds like its missing when you rev it up and it has no power, anything above half throttle and it dies a death. I have taken the exhaust off to make sure its not carboned up and it does not look too bad, cleaned the airfilter and changed the sparkplug but its still the same. Can someone please tell me what to try now?? Thanks very much, Dave.

Many of you will have read about my old problematic TY250S, after a year of trying I managed to almost fix it, still oils its plug up but takes weeks to do so. Any way that one may be for sale now because I have bought a new one! It is a 1988 TY 250 R with a talon drilled disc conversion, I have just finished renovating it, tell me what you think...

Just bought a second hand pinky after a few years without a trial bike. It is a 1990 can anybody tell me what is the best mixture to run it on (it seems to be running rich at the moment) the previous owner who never actually competed on it ran it at 25:1. Also any other top tips as I previously trialed a water cooled Beta so will be first time on an air cooled mono. Thanks

I am looking at buying some exotica parts for my TY175, seeing exchange rates are favourable for me at the moment. I am tossing up in deciding between a WES pipe or CDI conversion. What should I go for first, what is the better of the two for bang for bucks? My engine is standard otherwise at present. I was thinking the ignition may pay benefits overall, and the pipe, where does this improve power, more mid range to top end? Appreciate anyone who has first hand experience with these parts.

I have just purchased a Yamaha TY 250 Majesty registered SOG ***S, First registered in Birmingham (any one here know the bike) Obviously it is a Yamaha framed bike. Needs cosmetics/ chassis sorting, it runs well though. Iwill have to mothball it for a while as I have just put the house up for sale so no bikes/ mess around until we move (yes dear) . It has a TY tank and not the coffin type and there is a well faded Mick Andrews sticker on the top of the fuel tank. recently bought a lovely 250 pinky, runs like a dream but now winter coming thought it could do with a little cosmetic attention. i want to respray the tank but heard that this isnt possible due to the paint bubbleing? is this true and are they any ways round this? also anyone had any experience of bead blasting the cylinder head? any problems associated with this? any help appreciated!

I have trawled about 13 pages to find info but no joy. Which is the best kit available to reposition TY 250 twin shock pegs. I know Millers do a bolt on kit, are there any better ones available, it seems good value but the kid on the phone was not too sure whether it lowered them by much. PS its a Yam framed Majesty.

I installed a new Mikuni VM22 carb on my TY175, the carb is much different fron the old Mik. Does anyone have a recomendation for jetting. Should it be the same as old carb? I have installed a 3.0 slide and 190 main, 27.5 pilot and needle from old carb. Mick

Hi i am struggling to get my forks back together , the fork sprung apart and bits went everywhere, , i have a parts list but can't work out how they are supposed to go back together looks like double dutch, if any one knows how to get them back together or let me know where i can get a workshop manual, it will be most appreciated probably when i have done the first one the other one will be easy peasy, hopefully, thanks in advance Mick

hi guys im putting my 86 ty250 mono back into service after a seventeen year layoff (midlife crisis) i have a few jobs to do yet. what i would like some advice on are handlebars last time out i bent the renthals and refitted the original chrome bars and cant remember what rise etc i had fitted any help would be apprieciated by the way im 5'11" mickh

After last Sunday's trial I brought the bike home and washed with hosepipe as usual. Went to try and start as I usually do to dry things off and it and it just wouldn't. So I tried the standard cure of spraying everything with WD40 but to no avail. Then I noticed I'd transported it home with the fuel on. So I decided to leave it a couple of days to dry out internaly, just in case I had flooded it. Fast forward to Friday, took the plug out. black and wet, that's the problem then. Dried the plug out on the gas hob, checked for a spark, not brilliant but I thought it would do. No way. all it would do is backfire and scare the **** out of the dog !! Then noticed carb was…

Ive got a TY175, 13.5 inch Betor shocks, Samy Miller footrests, I noticed someone had posted that the TY shakes its head if it see's rock with the Sammy miller footrests fitted, I tried mine yesterday and riding up a stream/rock section was a nightmare, the front end was all over the place, if i had a steering damper handy I would have fitted it. Front forks are standard, with a heavy oil in them, 15mm above the top yoke, the Betors are on the softest setting, I weigh about 12.5st, has anyone got any ideas on how I can improve the front end, without buying Ty250 forks?

I have just completed the rebuild of my 320 Yellow framed Majesty. I was very suprised at the huge gap between 4th gear and top. I was wondering if this is normal? Any info would be welcome. How do I post a picture on this forum? I would like to show her off!!!

OK here is the long story: Got a TY80 from a relative, was told it was running before gas all evaporated out of tank and tank rusted up. First did a Kreem kit on the tank (looks spiffy) clean out carb. still don't run quite right. Cleaned out carb numerous times. still don't run quite right. This is the most recent items done to bike: clean carb with solvent, remove all jets, choke assembly, remove air fuel screw, clean all parts and blew compressed air through all passages. Set the carb with fuel air screw 1.5 full turns out. set needle clip in 2nd from top groove. Was originally in the top groove. gap spark plug NGK B6HS (nice golden brown in color) gapped t…
