  1. Started by rusty ken,

I'm needing to change the back tyre on my 350 Matchless. The options available are a Michelin x lite or x11, an IRC, or a Dunlop. These are all designed with modern machinery in mind, but can anyone provide any advice on which wiuld best suit a heavyweight pre-unit?

  3. The Stratford-Upon-Avon Club held a social event on Saturday 9th July to celebrate the centenary year of the Colmore Cup trial. I estimate that around 170 trials enthusiasts including five previous winners of the trial took part in the event which visited many of the locations once used in the Colmore. Riding or driving any type of machine, the entrants were taken on 60+ mile loop of the Cotswold Hills and with an 'on road' route and a 'off road' route, there was something for everyone. Towards the end of the event, entrants gathered together near to a location named Camp, first used in the Colmore in 1936 and for many years until it a new owner withdrew the option to …

  4. I’ve recently purchased a 1965 Tiger Cub. It’s been bored to 220cc. The previous owner has fitted a new Amal Premier carb 622 /301. 103 needle jet. 130 main. 19 pilot jet ( 2 rings on the jet ). slide 622 / 3.5 no numbers on the needle but two rings on the top, set at position 3 ( lowest ). The bike starts ok, ticks over fine but at a trial on Sunday it displayed all the features of fuel starvation mid section. In two sections she just stopped and wouldn’t start until I depressed the carb plunger as if starting from cold. Then fired into life. Strangely she was fine between sections, no hint of starvation. Baffled to say t…

I recently bought a BSA b40 trials bike "SS engine, distributer type it has Boyer electronic ignition fitted and came with a mk1 Amal carb which i think needs setting up proper, as it wont rev out and it backfires and spits the occasional flame, The plug shows heavy black deposits, I noticed tonight that the front pipe is going a bit purple colored. The carb has 622 with a 4 manually stamped over the last 2, making it 624, I measured the in and out at 24mm and the slide tube at 30mm, the float says 622 on it, the main jet is a 120, the needle jet is 106, the pilot jet is 25, the throttle slide is a 3 and has 622 stamped on, and the needle is on the middle groove.…

So I purchased a set of mz forks for my bsa c15 trials bike I'm building problem is my 35mm yokes are just that 35mm an the mz forks are 34.7 the options at the minute are shim out the gap using 6 tho shim wrapped round the stancions or bore out the yokes and turn a split bush. Re chroming is not an option as I don't even know if the forks are any good so don't want to waste 150 quid re hard chroming them.. any input welcome

Hi, I am just finishing a Tiger cub trials project and would appreciate any advice on the rear sprocket. The current chain is a 520 and I see from the manuals and most postings that a 420 is the standard size. The 520 clears everything and I would like to stay with this if possible as it will be stronger and will cope with the awesome power of the 275cc upgrade on it...... Joking, the power is still not arm-wrenching but it does sound excellent! ;o) All the sprockets I can find on the interweb are 420, can anyone advise on where to go for a 520? Best Regards

I am new to trials riding having only started this xmas but have devolved from a 2003 gasgas to ty250 and now a tiger cub which is a fixer upper, clutch, carb/timing being the main things, my question at this point is what size jets are you guys using and how many turns out on the mixture questions, the carb is a mikuni vm22, also do you cover the air hole at the bottom of the mouth at the front of the carb where in meets the manifold? any help appreciated
