At a recent trial, I was observer for a stop allowed trial. For the A Grade (or expert) riders on one section they had to come in at a right angle to the end of a large log (about 1.5m high), hop the back wheel around and/or hop the front around so they were then directly in line with the end of the log prior to a splat top get on top. The space was tight such that there was a bike length +300mm between the boundary tape and the log. In positioning the rear wheel and without rolling backwards the white tape got caught on the tyre and as the rider was positioning and inching forward the tape moved with the wheel up and eventually the tape was such that it was now in front …

Right, I know I am not the most experienced mechanic in the world, but are Gas Gas just trying to be difficult? I'm about to change the gear oil on my bike only to find that there is no conventional dip stick, nor a sight glass, nor it appears one of those screw holes that overflows when you've put to much in. What I have is what looks like a large bolt just above the rear brake lever. Now, I've heard of people having to put their bike on its side to put in gear oil, is this right? If so how do you know when its full? In addition, does anyone know how much this bike (93' GT32) takes and what weight to use? Thanks Mark

Had a fab day on Sunday! let me explain..... Recently both of my kids had a full day at a local trials school. Well my son took to it really well and wanted to start riding so over the last month we go the bike, trailer, tow hitch, boots , helmet etc! we set off for our first practice. After visiting a couple of local trials to see the standard of the beginners route, we found out about a local practice venue, which I must say was FAB! Just what you needed. A large field to practice the basics (moving off, stopping, gear changes etc) and once he was back in the swing of it, into the woods to mark out a few basic sections. 2 hrs later he was shot but happy with his progre…

A rough guesstimate is all I'm looking for. Don't ever want to find out the hard way, but say trail riding on you're every day trials bike, be it 125/250/300, how many miles would/should I expect ??

In an effort to come up with a topic nobody has covered, I came up with this one. You've finished your trial, had the obligatory after apres trial pint, driven home, washed the bike down and put your muddy gear in the wash. Time to run a hot bath and have a muscle relaxing soak in the tub. What bubble bath do you use?

I see some posts on what lads have done for sections in their back yard. These are pictures of sections I have built over the past 12 years, in my back yard. This creek is all concrete mixed a bag at a time and stones set in, the water is from the land drains but only runs when it's wet.

hi all I have been using this in my 315r with good results and I love the smell... I have just bought a 2011 beta evo 250 which has Been run on putoline TT trials. Is there any benefits to running either 2 stroke oil and if the castrol a747 was the preferred what would I need to do to start using this? Thanks

I am getting on a bit -42 and just discovering joys of trials, usually go out on Saturday for 4 hours solid riding, but when I am finished I experience a lot of joint pain for rest of day. Anyone else experience this and any remedies or supplements I can try. - cheers.

I plan on carrying out an upgrade of the Membership System in use on TC over the next couple of weeks to bring it in line with the forums. The latest version of the Membership System is a complete rewrite and, because passwords are stored encrypted, they can't be migrated. What will happen after the upgrade is that everyone will have to reset their password (it can be to the same password as you currently use, that doesn't matter). It just has to get into the new system correctly. ello peeps. This is not strictly about trials but i hope someone can help. I need to know what kind of acid they use for dipping metal petrol tanks etc to remove old paint, rust etc. Plus where can i get enough to make about 50 litres Please only reply if you know for sure as i have had helpful people suggesting lots of stuff (guessing i think) and it just creates confusion. There must be someone on here who has worked for an acid dipping firm. Thanks in advance for any help. Marcus

Sadly whilst practicing last friday I snapped my anterior crucia ligament and damaged the knee in general. Knee is like a balloon and I am non weight bearing. Surgery will be once the swelling has gone down. Was just wondering if anybody else has done the same and how soon did they return to trials afterwards, if they did at all ? Also what sort of knee braces do people use ?

Just rode hillsbro' last Sunday , Great Trial. Looking at championship only 4 or 5 on average in each class really doing the whole series. I think it would be better to have four more central rounds i.e. Bemrose or Dave Rowland near Buxton and what about D K Mansell south of Birmingham. Fourteen rounds with best ten to count. Surely that would encourage riders to do more rounds. What do you Classic guys think?

Just bought an Airoh Rock helmet, not the cheapest, but I wanted to get a decent one, carbon Kevlar shell etc. It does not have an ACU gold sticker. Did a bit of surfing, and one online shop is saying it has silver approval Will I be able to use it in competitive events? Apologies, probably a common question, but couldn't get the search feature to work on here. Thanks in advance Uncle Dave

Just returning to trials after a long lay off. When I last rode, the ACU licence was in three types, Club, National and International. I am unable to see the National licence listed now, does the normal club licence now cover national events ?

I ride trials at both North Lincs Classic club and Peak Classic club, neither of which are ACU clubs. I would like to ride occasional "open" trials at various other clubs who are ACU but probably only a few each year. Is my only option to join another club which is ACU to get the club code in order to get a licence?

When applying for an ACU license do you still need the passport photo to be sent in with the application And is there anywhere I could download the application form.
