Hi guys. Im looking for a new rear tyre fur my monty 4ride..its fitted with a dunlop 803.i like the tyre. But use the bike mainly fur trails n roads..do do actual trials..its great grip on the road (soft) knoblles are ripping themselfs off especialy in the middle run 10psi but ave been lookin at a mitas e01 anyone used this. Or any recomendations of a decent all rounder..

Back in the day, when men were men and badly suspended twin shock bikes bounced into your nuts so often it made you sound like anything but, we all kind of knew the pecking order as to what was the best piece of kit at any given time. We had the most popular evolution of roughly Mont, Bultaco, Ossa, Yamaha, Fantic and SWM. Each taking the previous ones crown and moving the game on significantly over the last ‘best thing.’ There were many others, like the Beamish Suzuki, but they never quite gained the kind of popularity needed to give real credence to being ‘the best’ at the time. Could anybody tell me if they are worth the money? How easy they are to apply and the finished result?

I rode trials in the '80s. But stopped in 1986, for financial reasons. I had a lot of bikes, but liked the fantic 200 professional the best. I'm thinking of riding again and looking at the new bikes. I didn't like the 240 fantic, too much power. Looked at modern stuff but no idea which is best. Beta, Gasgas, sherco, to name a few. If I go down the fantic route (no pun intended) it's not easy to find a nice one. I have lost a lot of my confidence so no plans to win any championships. I had a brief ride on a 270 gasgas & hated it. It nearly dislocated both of my shoulders! Wonder if anyone has any input?

Hey, Was cleaning the bike earlier, and I have justed a new (to me) chain lube called PJ1 Black Label, It applys well...and attracts more dirt then little. Anyway, trying to clean the chain but the oil WILL NOT move. Any suggestions as to getting it off? Its all over my chain, and the remaining oil (after application) has gone all down my rear (and front) sproket...which is all black with dirt. Also it has dripped onto my rear wheel rim... I would just like to comment on the appalling level of grammar, spelling and punctuation by the contributors to the forums. Whilst the views aired are frequently informative, entertaining, humourous and enlightening, all too often the essence of the post is lost by how it has been written. I can feel "egg on the face" if I've missed a spelling mistake!

Wanting to upgrade my current machine and two options have come up, 2015 Beta 300 and a 2015 Sherco 300. Both are the same money, age and condition give or take. Which would you choose? I'm leaning towards the Beta as I've read they are a bit better made and I will get longer out of it but can't decide. Any other thoughts either way?

I have done a search on the forum for details about the differences in 2 stroke oil and I understand that "you get what you pay for" and that fully synthetic is better than semi. But what I arent sure of is whether I should follow the Beta instructions for my 2006 250 Rev 3 and use 70ml of semi synthetic oil in 5 litres of petrol, or whether I should take on board peoples advice on the forum from other threads and use fully synthetic as it is supposed to be better stuff???

The discussion on another thread got around to possible dangers of unleaded fuel when used for cleaning air filters etc. The topic went on to consider the further danger of breathing in exhaust fumes from a machine not fitted with a catalytic converter (the device used to clean up fumes in all new(er) cars.) ie all trials bikes. Here is a link to an article about this very subject. Whilst it doesn't mention motorcycles, effectively a trials bike is a simple single cylinder engine, as is a lawn mower or strimmer etc Take a look and draw your own conclusions, or better still do some research on the chemicals used in unleaded fuel which are used to replace the lead..... …

I've just started riding again after a break and am amazed that tyre technology has almost completely stood still in the last 12 years! It was always Michelin X11 then and still seems to be now! Over on the round and round world of trackdays, tyres have moved on in huge leaps! I guess there's not a lot of cash in trials for the tyre manufacturers... Anyways, on one of the club websites someone is offerring Vee- Rubber tyres. They are considerably cheaper than Mich, IRC or Dunlop. Has anyone used them? Are they a serious alternative or made out of plastic? Thanks Graham

It's been suggested that I put a "Beginners Guide" page (or pages) together on the site that newcomers or those curious about the sport could be directed to. Being a non-rider myself, it's not the sort of thing I fancy writing. With the number of people on here and the wealth of experience there must be somebody willing to put fingers to keyboard. Hi all, Over the last few years I've been doing the scoring for our little club. It's basically a mammoth spreadsheet, a credit to the author, but if stuff breaks it's very locked down and I can't fix it, or even attempt to fix it. I'm interested in what other clubs use for computer based scoring, are there templates or pre-built customisable databases available for download anywhere? I was considering doing my own but thought I'd be reinventing the wheel so I'd ask around first. Thanks

The rear tire on one og my bikes is leaking out all og the air within a few hours. The tire size is 4.00 R18 so what do you think of putting a inner tube in the tire? I read that tube size 110/90-18, 110 /100-18 and 120/100-18 will fit the 4.00- R18 rear tire. Any knows if this is correct? Ok i have trawled the internet for ideas but in plain english how do you measure the rake. I know its the vertical point down from the head stock then a straight line down the center of the head stock but how do you come to or measure what this angle is? Do you convert your measurements onto graph paper and then use a protractor? or is there some mathematical system (maths & english not my strong points!) and if say you wanted to bring the rake in 1 or 2 degree's then can you convert this to how many mm or cm you would move the forks back or steepen them?

I've had my Gaerne boots for about a year and a half. Allways oil them and dry properly. Do about 1 trial a month and practice once a week. Noticed that the stitching on the left boot has broken and the leather is starting to come away from the rubber sole. Taken the boot to a couple of cobblers and none of the say they can repair it. Apart from this area of stitching breaking, the boots are in really good condition but it looks like they are going to be chucked if they can't be repaired. This seems crazy as I had my last pair of boots for years. Was wondering if anybody else had had trouble with Gaerne boots and how long do people tend to get out of their boots ? …

I thing that old bikes are good because my dad has a Bsa Bantam 175 and hec beats the modern stuff so they are the answer to winning so go out there a and get a old bike.

I've been scouring the classifieds for a while now, and I see a few bikes coming up a few times, which makes me wonder, are people asking too much for their bikes, like do they think they are worth more than they really are, or is it just that nothing is selling nowadays ? I have cash burning a hole in my pocket, so I'm not a tyre kicker, but am I just looking for something for nothing
