General Trials Talk

Does anyone know where to get a point checker. They use them for telling you when the points open and close. The old manuals show them being used. So they must have some around. Or does someone know how to make one. I have used a battery and light, but would like something better

due to the lack of regular trials in my area I'm using my GG Pro '03 more and more for riding the trails on my doorstep often with very technical bits so I'm getting the trials fix as well...........I'm running the standard 11/42 sprocket sizes but curious to find out if anyone has experimented with gearing to give longer legs on the straight bits with out comprimising too much on the nadgery bits.... H

i want to polish up some parts on my gasgas and also my dads frame on his montesa.First of all, i know that you use polishing mops and put them onto a drill, grinder and polish. although what polish mops shoul i buy? and also what cremes should i buy? and last but not least, where do i get the stuff from? thanks a bunch chris

Tire Size Front 2.75-21 Rear 4.00-18 Does this mean the front tire is almost 3" high or wide? And what does the - 21 mean? The rear 4.00 high or wide. And what does the 18 stand for. In other words how do you read these measurment?

It was bicycle trials, but how much exposure to the general public do you think it got? Auditoriums (sp) full of folks. I wonder if they associated it with trials, or had any idea, or if it was just a Circus act for them? Wonder if it will be Motorcycles next time? It was impressive though.

I had a prob wih my 315r clutch dragging. From great advice from you all i now have a drag free ride. However i tried new and lighter oil which made no difference, checked the plates and discs for wear, replaced them with newer ones, but still the problem stayed with me. I took the following advice but only to a ratio of 5:2 and could not believe the difference. Well pleased!!! Hope this is a help to fellow sufferers!!!!!! I've had an arc welder for the past 10 years and have done a fair bit of welding inside and outside. The trouble is it only welds fairly thick steel and i seem to be constantly burning holes in steel and shelling out for aluminium welding. I've therefore decided to get a Mig and would like your advice on whether to get a Gas or Gasless Mig welder. I tend to do most of my welding inside but occasionally outside. I weld thick as well and thin alloy and steel. The weld of a Tig looks better , but i've been told you can get good flowing results on steel and aluminium with a Mig if you turn the power up. Is this right ? Im i best to go Gas or Gasless ?. What size (amps …

I am wanting to go and watch some trials and then join a club where I can have a go. How does it work when you join a club? Do people join a club and then it enables them to ride in other clubs events or are they restricted to the club where they are a member? Do people join a a few different clubs if there is more than one in there area? I live in North Yorkshire but close to West Yorkshire and also Lancashire so have Yeadon-Guiseley, Horsforth, Bradford and Lancashire within travelling distance so not sure what to do? my boy is bmx mad but i think it's time he had a trials bike. he is 12 now but never rode a motor bike of any discription, what i need is some imput from other trials riders about what bike to get him. i dont want to spend a fortune on a bike as it will only be something for him to learn on and also he may not like it ( you know what kids are like ) so if anyone could give me some advice on what to buy that would be great, something thats easy for him to start, ride and also repair, if he's going to have one he has to learn to service and repair it too......many thanks.

since I (so far) am a trailrider my new, used 2.9 and I spent our first day together riding trails, tight easter trails, but still ... it was FUN we can easily keep up with the 'big' bikes and when it gets ugly my riding style is smooth and more on the torques side, no screaming engines, but still I am a little concerned how much trail riding can a trials bike endure? must I fear for the engine or for the suspension? or can I torture the Sherco as much as I do my CRF? thanks for your input ev
