Are the best riders left or right handed? Out of the top ten world finishers last year how many were lefties? If your an orthadox right hander does this give you a more refined throttle control or does it go against you by having a more jerky throttle action? Does a southpaw leftie suffer from cramp in the clutch fingers as much as a rightie? And while were on the subject do righties have more or less rear brake control? I'd say once you get over the initial, how to ride a bike stage your brain compensates for the reletive strengths and weaknesses of the limbs, (some brains obviously adapt a lot better than others!!)

When at Hawkstone, each section had an official doing the time and I bet there were occasions when the rider was just on the limit of the time and gave the rider a few more seconds to avoid conflict with the rider or just give benefit of the doubt. Well, to avoid that, why not have an automatic clock that has an audible sound exactly on the time limit avoiding conflict and being consistent for everyone. The observer just checks to see the rider has cleared the gates before it goes off and the rider cant argue as when the sound goes.. thats it! Edited to read better I hope

I'm rebuilding an 01 GG 280, new mains, seals, rings and small end. The bore looks in good condition, but has lost a small flake of chrome below the exhaust port. This tiny fragment looks like it has got lodged in the piston. It looks like it has been there a while and has caused no further damage. My dilema is do I rebuild it as it is or do I need a new piston. Am I right in thinking the small flake off the lining is not a big problem. It otherwise looks great with the cross hatchings still clear and not polished off. What do you think? Thanks.

  17. Hi All, Gutted, went out for my first trial on a 2005 Sherco 290 I recently bought, had a good 3 hours riding and then sat talking to someone on tickover in neutral for 5 mins or so, then I opened the throttle to clean it out and it wouldn't rev properly, there was a kind of delay on the throttle, I opened it wide open and it wouldn't rev out fully, so I decided to take it for a run up the track, but when I put it into 1st gear and released the clutch, it set off in REVERSE!! so I killed it immediately, and since then it won't start?! Any suggestions as to the cause much appreciated! Andy

Hey guys, I have a 1997 Fantic Section, in really nice condition. There is one thing I like your help on. With the engine running, while the wheels are not rolling, it is impossible to get the tranny into neutral. If I am rooling to a stop, I can select neutral most of the time, BEFORE I stop rolling. I've used many different types of fluid / oils in the tranny, and adjusted the clutch per specs, but still no improvement. If the engine is not running, finding neutral is no problem. Any suggestions? Thanks, Tony P Charlotte, NC USA

Hello every1, this has probably happened to you all at one time or another and has me before but not to the extreme that happened on sunday. I rode a trial at a fantastic venue called Breakheart Quarry, three laps of 15 sections which i thought were brilliantly marked out and i opted to ride the new grade of riding as inter 50/50 which is 50% expert sections and 50% alternative route sections. At the end of the day i was happy with my ride, the same old thing shouldn't have lost this and shouldn't have lost that but was basically happy. I found the results on the internet tonight where on section 9 the observer showed me round the expert route which i needed to take and…
