Anybody got tips on the dreaded 'forearm pump'?? (lactic acid, so somebody told me) I've just got back into trails from a long lay off, I'm finding the riding ok except that my forearms pump up really bad after about a lap, sometimes it'll go away after a short rest but today i had it for the whole five laps!. I suppose i should ride/practise more often but the family thing puts the stoppers on that one Any tips to stop this?? MG

can't think of a good reason why people don't use them I think they'd be dead handy for bashing through some sections or taking a cheeky 'rest' against a tree Have I just started a trend or have I egg on my face

What do you all use for washing your bikes? Sponge water... pressure washer.... Some other form of exotic washing equipment... Just interested to know! Rich

Ive just come across this. Heres an interesting article from a 1990 edition of DBR. Surely the idea of carbon fibre pistons makes sense , for all of the reasons in this article. So why didnt they take take off? Any ideas?

You will get no arguement from me that Tony Bou is the best. I also believe he remains the best on any factory team. Bearing that in mind how does he finish under the following......... 2015 Sheffield The usual suspects, Bou, Raga, Cabby, and Farardo. All riding for their present factory except for one minor change. Each rider gets a bike fresh out of the box just like us Mortals ride. The only set up is done by the rider personally. Handlebar, brake, and clutch are the only things allowed to be adjusted. So, is Tony still finishing first on a box stock Repsol Honda? Do Cabby or Fajardo have an advantage on a box stock Factory 300 or maybe Raga on a stock Raga would …

I know there's going to be a few rude comments on this topic ! ..... but I'm suffering from cramp in my clutch finger and hands toward the end of a trial, a general feeling that I cant hold onto the bugger any longer which is runing my results. warming up, I get the usual burn in the lower arms and ache in the hands, it goes after about 10 - 15 mins of riding. the first and second lap are good ..... then i hit a brick wall, i cant pull the clutch in or turn the bike, .... it's a bummer Has anyone got any tips on what could help in terms of bar position or height......... or anything else that might help, exercise for the hands / arms / fingers ?? My son was riding my '05 Beta Rev 3 and he said it just died when he was going slow after an hour long ride in the hills, then the kick start was totally frozen. I initially thought he scorched the piston but it seems fine. Then I thought the kick starter gear might be jammed but that's not it either. No shimmer in the oil and it had plenty of coolant so I don't think it overheated. The + wire connection to the fan was a bit loose so it might have not been running but I assume it would have caused a seized piston if that was the culprit. I can move the piston without the jug installed by hand turning the rear wheel with it in 5th but it's pretty tough and I feel like it s…

Hi I’m doing a Honda cub trials build what’s the ideal head tube angle on a Trials bike, I’m using modern front suspension off a 06 KX85. Just trying to get in the general area

I've recently found a problem with lack of braking power on the front of my Electric Motion. First, a little bit of background: I've had the bike for three years and this problem has just started. The front brake is a braktec monobloc. My normal procedure between trials is to abrade both pads and disc with wet'n'dry and clean with brake cleaner. Three trials ago I fitted new Galfer red pads. For the first trial they worked fine. At both of the next two I found that the braking power was very weak. Although it was something I had never done before, and was a bit sceptical about, I rode up and down a bit with the front brake on to heat it up, then sprayed it with water…

I am currently looking for a trials bike for my six year old son. He is big for his age and .not ridden a motorbike before. Do i go for a twist and go (beta mini or gas gas 50) or a bike with gears( beta rev 50).He sits on my lap on my bike and has got to grips with the clutch and throttle. Also is the beta minitrial the same size as a beta rev 50? He has sat on a gas gas 50 and is the perfect size for him. What do i do? Heard bad things about the electrics on a gas gas and not willing to pay silly season prices.

What is the best way to fit new grips? ie. easy to get them slid onto the bars, and then stay on... thanks, S.M.

Just wondering if anybody has tried heated grips on their bikes. I have a hard time riding when the temp gets down to the 30's and below, and it seems that heated grips might provide a solution, or at the very least help a little. Wiring on some of the ones I've seen seems pretty straight forward, and the cost is also reasonable. Just wondering if there's something I might be overlooking as it all seems pretty simple.

Today I finally got around to properly cleaning up my chain and sprockets (half an hour with the parts washer, should have done it sooner!) and I noticed my front sprocket has noticeable wear, while the chain and back sprocket look fine ... if this was a road bike I'd be ordering a new set, but since this is a little 125 with a chain tensioner as I ok to carry on for a good while yet? Do you replace the lot, or just whats worn? This is my first trials bike, so I'm still learning the finer points of it's maintenance!

After observing the sidecars at the Inter Centre team trial I thought I'd give it a go with my son as it look's fun I've bought a trials sidecar from ebay and now want to go about fitting it to my Y2k Sherco 290. Has anyone got any pictures of how a sidecar should be mounted to a Sherco frame? I'm puzzled as to how the lower mount point should be near the footpeg. I'm assuming the left foot peg is left in place? Thanks in advance for any advice or pictures Mick

Hello All; new elderly member returning riding after 40 years; Just found a 1976 Yamaha TY175 the same bike I bought new in 1976; The bike is in good shape everything original; I’d like to slowly start updating it to make it a bit lighter and handle and ride better; nothing major at first may be tires, handlebars, levers, and foot peg replacement / repositioning; any advice or previous experiences in doing this; would be appreciated; my goal being older now; is to slowly bring back my riding skills; in woods behind my house and possibly enter a Observed Trials event down the road; I’m hoping some upgrading and simple mods; will help and make a more enjoyable riding experi…
