What is the best way to fit new grips? ie. easy to get them slid onto the bars, and then stay on...

If the bars are hollow, use a compressor to blow air through from the opposite side. This will stretch the grip and help it to slide on - Fit the throttle grip first, remove the throttle assembly and then do the left grip.

If the bars are plugged, lightly spray the inside of each grip with something like hairspray/spraypaint/carpet glue etc. Leave to dry overnight and then lockwire the grips to make sure they don't slip.

(Carpet glue is the best, just try not to spray it inside the throttle housing like a mate did)

put a bit of petrol inside the grip then slide it on. it takes about 10mins to evapotate

Yep - carpet glue - I only used it for the first time a few weeks ago, but works well.

As a kid, we always used to use hairspray, but it can give up when wet.

I cut the old ones off with a knife , clean up the bars then take a new grip spray aerosol lacquer into the grip lots of of it then push it on when all the laquer has evaporated the grips are stuck in place with the lacquer residue

The best stuff I've used is good old WD40.

I use brake cleaner, a quick squirt inside and then grip wire.

If you use compressed air make sure to turn down the pressure regulator to about 15-20 psig. If you leave it between 90-120 the grip may blow up like a balloon and be ruined.

a slight variation on the carpet glue theme, but last time i fitted some grips - i used lino glue. still in a spray can, but seems to work a tad better again, than the carpet variant. (due to being designed for plastic/rubber flooring i guess!)

wd40 will deffo help you fit the grips......... but if you want them to stay put, i'd use summat else!

used spray contact adhesive ( same as carpet glue) and my grips stayed there but twisted after a while on the inside. this used proper grip glue and they havent move yet!

ive no idea why but wd40 works perfect really easy to get em on and for a some weird reason it stays put. i cant explain it but there we go. it works.

Wrap the bar ends with insulation tape. Coat the inside of the grips with petrol and slide on. You have to be quick as the grips get hold instantly. Never had a problem using this method.

Use a bit of hairspray it drys sticky in about 5 mins and its easy to slide them on!!!!
