Hi, Bought a Gas Gas 93/94/95 model cheap as it was in bits. Started doing her up, everything, sweet then came across some stripped threads in left crankcase. Thread is too close to a bearing to be helicoiled. I feel I have been ripped off, since the guy who sold it to me never mentioned it, I thought I would overlook it and have been trying to find a way to repair it. However it seems it is not possible to repair. I found what I thought was the right crankcase half on fleabay but on comparing it is obviously not the right one. The one for sale has the carb port on the crankcase yet mine is on the barrel. According to the frame number mine is a 94 model. Can anyone cof…

  6. Well, hello from a new owner of an old Bultaco! I just picked up a 1971 Bultaco Sherpa T 250 model 80, and will be restoring it back to former glory. I've dabbled in trials before, had a Yamaha DT125 then a TY175 trials, my dad had a Sherpa T back in the 1980's and I wish I had got it from him before it was gone and I realized what it was. No matter, now I have one and looking forward to rebuilding it over the next while. I'm sure I'll have some questions, hope to bother you all over the next few months to years! Vincent

Hi all, Ive been visiting these forums for information for years, and thought i should finally sign up! I live in Devon, England, and have been trail riding for years. I find myself enjoying the more technical riding more and more these days and so have decided to try and get into trials riding. I use a Suzuki DR350 for trail riding and have had it for about 5 years now, but recently picked up a MK3 Gas Gas Pampera 250 im fixing up in the hope of using it for trail riding, starting out in long distance trials and hopefully beginner trials too. Thanks, Hario

Hi I used to ride/race MX a few years back but haven't been off road for about 3 years. Still been on two wheels, just stuck to the roads. Just bought myself a 2001 TXT 280, never rode a trials bike before but hopefully I will take to it. Based in Chorley, Lancashire, and looking for places to ride if anyone can advise? Cheers Davro337

As this is my first post and there's an "introduce yourself" section I thought I would say a quick hello. I'm Chris and have a 1966 Bultaco Sherpa that I'm planning to restore in the coming months, or maybe years as not in too much hurry. From browsing the forums I've been awed and impressed by the depth of knowledge and support so a big thanks for all the information I've already gleaned but I have many more questions. The bike is not in great nick although is mostly complete (I do have the wheels). I've owned it since 1982 when, after destroying my brother's "field bike" (a Casal), my dad bought me the Sherpa mainly to shut me up as I was a bit bike bonkers. Anyway, it'…

Hello. Similar to many others I have used the site a lot and thought it time to join. I bought my Bultaco Frontera back in 1986 for £100. It was in bad shape but still worked. This was all pre internet days and I was only 21 but I did have enough sense to buy the Haynes competition manual. Other than being very tatty the main problem back then was difficulty in selecting 2nd gear. Luckily I lived near the Len Savage Shop in Farnborough and he put me in touch with an old mechanic who had loads of spares and I got another selector drum. I don't know how we managed it but with some help from friends we changed the drum and it all worked. I got the bike through th…

I am going to be working on a friends Beta Rev 3 270 and he is letting me play with it for a while for my trouble. Secretly he is hoping to addict me to trials riding so I will buy the Beta. Doesn't take much to push me over the edge with a bike. That said, I am a 50 yr old fat guy, I do a lot of track time. Currently I am playing with my Husky SM610 and I love it. Hope to have the Beta to play with this weekend, we shall see. I bet I end up owning the dang thing, I hope my marriage will survive it all. My little shop Riding the Husky a couple of weeks ago I would be the good looking fat guy on the right.

Hello from North Texas. I've been lurking around here for a couple of weeks and decided to go ahead and join the other inmates. This is a really nice website and I'm glad I came across it. This past weekend I picked up an "experienced" Yamaha twin shock TY250 and I'm looking forward to having some fun with it. About 40 years ago I learned how to ride off road and have done some trials before but it's been several decades past. My riding the past 30 years has all been on the highways. Having said that, excuse me if I ask some simpleminded questions from time to time but I'm willing to learn and this looks like the best forum to do just that.

I wouldn't say that I am new to trials, but I have only been riding motorcycles for about a year and a half, and I have been riding trials for about a year. My first motorcycle was a 1978 yamaha IT 175, and I still have it. I ride a 1999 Beta Techno 250, and it seems to be doing well for an older bike, but i am looking for something newer. I go and ride every chance I get (when my bike isn't broken or being worked on). I have cracked the swingarm, the rear wheel has been broken, and i have broken a set of bars. I dont know if that is a lot that has happened in the past year, but it seems like every old bike has problems. I ride in the ameature class, and am considering mo…

Hello all, I am re living my youth, (mid life crises) and want to get back into trials. I used to have bikes most of my younger years, started riding about 6 years old. (Honda Z50) I raced with the army, enduro and trials, and did some local club trials also. Then I got more interested into land rovers and off roading, so went down that route, but I always missed my bikes, and always regretted selling them. My friend here in Belgium has a few bikes, and the other week let me have a play on his fanatic in the garden, Wow, I'm hooked again! made me realise what I'm missing. So I am selling the land rovers and will hunt for a trials bike. I would like to do some twi…

Hi all, first post here I'm a UK resident in the South West, I've not ridden a trials bike before but have had a YZ 125 and CR 250 in the past so have some off road experience, I now want to get into trials and am going to muddy wheels in Devon soon to have a day on a bike and get some riding tips before I jump in with a bike purchase. I'm 6' 3" and 15.5 stone with me pants only on. :moon:I've been thinking of getting a 125 with the theory being it wont punish me as much when the inevitable happens but would I be better off with a 250 due to my weight? Also I assume a 250's easier to ride as long as the throttles not revved mistakenly. I would like to spend between £1…

Hi guys I'm a complete newbie, from Hawkesbay NZ. Got introduced to trials by a friend a few months back and after watching the first event I was convinced. Just bought a 2013 GasGas 250 txt pro, and had a total of 1 hour on it. It is much to good a bike for me, over the years my riding has been road bikes only. Trials is going to be a huge learning curve. Where should I start? Looking forward to learning. Thanks Floyd
