Hi everyone, new to the forum here and excited about my first post. I am looking at buying my first trials bike and getting into the sport. I am a relatively skilled enduro rider but I'm looking to take my technical riding to the next level. I live in the states and trials bikes are pretty rare around where I live. I managed to find a 2003 Gas Gas TXT Pro 280 that looks to be in decent shape. I'm new to this site, so if I'm posting in the wrong area...sorry, please advise. My issue is, I'm re-building an old TY-250, 1974, awaiting a new electronic ignition, new throttle cable that replaces the forked one that controlled the oil injector, and a plate to block the old port for the worm gear that drives the oil injector. While I'm waiting, I'm trying to identify the rear shocks that came with the bike. They are definably after market shocks, red in color and have an air stem at the bottom. I have seen these shocks on other vintage bikes. My question is: What is the manufacturer name? Can the shocks be rebuilt? What is the recommended pressure for a 200 lb …

Been riding trials for about 9 years now and having a grand time . The last 4 or so on a D14 Bantam , I love old British bikes going back to a 69 Triumph that I rode all over the eastern US . The Bantam has been a long term project , with the help of my friend Bob at B&J racing and friends in England I think it has turned out well . Also been working to help promote our twinshock organization ITSA that is growing into a fine bunch of people that truly enjoy trials . Cheers , Bruce

Hello folks, I've just bought a nice beta rev 3 (2006) to have a muck about on, although my wife has now claimed it as her's and hasn't let me ride it yet . I currently ride enduro and hare & hounds events and am hoping to improve my dire technical riding skills (logs etc) and am looking forward to having a laugh on the way. Hopefully I'll go up to Fuddymuckers soon and have a play about up there, but if anyone is ever out during the week please let me know where you are practicing if you don't mind a beginner tagging along. cheers Andy

I rode trials in the 1950s on a rigid 350 BSA B32 The bike was in road trim as most of us rode to the trial in those days !! I introduced my son to the sport about 30 years ago. We went thru various bikes Bultaco Fantic Montesa etc. Time went by and the trialing faded for various reasons My son has taken the sport up again and introduced my grandson to the sport with an Oset. I find I can still ride without falling off so now have my all time favourite machine a Montesa twinshock a Cota 200 Its an ex farm bike and because of its condition doubt its ever been trialed Changed the oil fuelled it up and away it went !! Been riding dirtbikes for more than 20 years, considering a used trial bike to improve the technical aspect. 2013 Sherco 3.0 with 40 hours 2015 Beta EVO 300 with around 30 hours Both in excellent condition, same price actually. Which would you choose? In a perfect world I’d pick a 250 but none available where I live.

ima guy from a small town in new hampshire lookin to get my 1974 trials 80 also known as TY80A.. It has power coming from magento but, then looses power as soon as coil is plugged in, now let me tell you guys its a brand spanking new coil , new spark plug as well and i still can not figure it out . in this modern day of keeping the world of trials up to date with current affairs , can i ask why we are all ben kept in the dark about honda montesa i find this very poor factoy customer relations both honda and montesa word on the grape vine is that honda will not supply the montesa with engines in fact we are being told that the factory is closed no more montesa are avaliable for sale in this country tmx news must no some thing we are all been shown the new bling 2010 models by gasgas sherco beta etc not a bean about montesa and as to our main inporter of bikes and parts were do we go ? i my self have have spent 1000s pounds on bikes parts…

Well I finally gave in to the desire and added a trials bike the the clutter that fills the garage. As if that wasnt enough it meant buying the lad one too (easier to justify spending endless hours out with the guys if you take the lad with you ). Anyway i've bought an old Sherco 290 and a Gas Gas 125 for the lad. What i know about bikes you could write on the back of a stamp and still have room for a pic of Lizzy. Are there any helpful words of wisdom, videos or info that would help me get started with basic maintenance (cleaning, servicing, etc) Thanks and looking forward to umpteen hours of fun both on and off the bikes. Hi, great forum for an old trialer. Does anyone know how i get an age-related certificate for my yamaha ty250 mono? as i dont want a Q plate. I regestered my old norton without a hitch as vintage m/c club varified its date but i am having trouble to find who can do a yamaha. It has 86 on the wheels so its probably a 1987 bike but DVLA wont take it as fact. Thanks Dave

Howdy everyone! I have been reading this forum for many many years. I am 60 years old and started riding motorcycles when I was five. I've owned just about everything you can think of. About 10 years ago my boys and I all had Gas Gas TXT 300s. At the time we lived in rural Kansas in the Kansas River Valley that had heavy woods and Rocky bluffs and lots of creeks etc. Those bikes were powerful and athletic, but I found them a bit too much at times. Fast forward to today, and I now live in Steamboat Springs Colorado with access to a lot of beautiful single track Mountain trails.
