Hi all, New to this forum and returning to off road and trials riding after a looonnnng time away. I rode trials a little bit as a very young kid but then my teen and adult years have been spent on road bikes, surfboards and in, under, on and behind (pushing) a variety of mainly clapped out vans. Hoping some of you guys and gals can help me out here please. I have around £1500 burning a hole in my pocket to spend on a used trials bike for some gentle, slow speed fun in a mates field, and also a bit of green laning. The bike needs to be as reliable and user friendly as possible considering my budget and long absence from off road riding, but also have good parts …

  4. Started by oldtimetrials,

Hello everyone out there in trials world. My name is Robby and I used to do trials back in the late 60s early 70s at my local meetings at Buxton, Matlock and Leak etc. I was never brilliant but loved every Sunday when trialing, I used to ride a mclaren suzuki, I wish I still had it now, I found it very light and easy to ride. I am in the process of restoring a Bultaco 250, it's a bit of a miss match but all there, I would like to thank Pete at in motion trials for all his excellent help and advise on my project, his service and aftersales is second to none.

Hi, I would like to know the whereabouts of Walwin motorcycles. There should be about 10 or 15 out there somewhere. They were built between 1958 to 1972.

  6. Hello Everyone, I just recently returned to trials after having been involved in an on-and-off manner for the past 30+ years. Living in California, the environmental/air quality issues made purchasing a bike that I could ride all year long extremely difficult. I ended up buying an Electric Motion 5.7 and really love it. However, now there are now fewer places to ride and fewer trial riders at the events. Trials seems to be on a very steep decline and I would like to hear your opinions as to why that may be happening. I've seen the OSET company trying to get very young riders involved in trials, and I think that's great. But what do you think can be done to…

Hello every one, just joined the forum and want to say Hi, I have just bought a 1979 Montesa Cota 247 and i am attempting to relive my youth at 51 years of age. The bike is stripped down for restoration as i type this, it was complete and running lovely when i picked it up last week. The frame, swing arm and side stand are ready to go to the powder coaters and the shopping list for new parts will start next week when i return from holiday. I am looking forward to getting involved in the forum and hope to pick up useful information and tips regarding the bike and getting back to riding trials after a 30 year lay off. Cheers John.

  9. Hi all, I've just joined the group as i am seriously thinking of getting into Trials. I ride a lot of motocross mainly practice days but a bit of racing sometimes. I really fancy a change and have wanted to do trials for some time. Anyone on here from Berkhamsted? Which is where i am based. I know there a local track near me which would be handy to ride to. Also my mother has a large place in Devon which would be ideal for take a bike to, plus all the Greenlanes around there. Question, are practice like MX tracks, you just turn up, pay your money and ride? Or do you have to have someone you know with you when you go to a practice event? Many thanks …

Hi there. My name is Marc and here is a quick story about me. For the past 11 years now I've been into kart racing. Throughout this year I've been getting quite fed up of going to the same track over and over again... I felt I needed to do something different. I thought about going to other tracks but that would cost a bit since other tracks are further away. So after my last race I've decided to calm down a bit by selling most of my karts and just keep one for fun. I didn't want to give up motorsport completely. I was thinking of trying supermoto or maybe motocross if I could pick up a bike cheap enough. But sadly they are to far out my price range for something decent. …

  16. Hello, I'm new to the sport of trials and have to say I'm loving it. So much so that my poor 2014 Husaberg TE300 is just sitting in the garage getting dusty. I bought a 2015 Sherco Factory Edition 300, what an amazing bike. I decided right away after bringing it home that I would make a video series to log my transition into the sport and see how or if any progression was made. I've been riding some very extreme terrain for years now but have developed allot of bad habits due to lazy riding practice compensated by speed, momentum and a pimped out bike. This little Sherco is teaching me a few lessons. If there is anyone like me trying to make the transition back into a …

Hi, I’m in Canada now and not much of a trials scene where I am. Looking to get a new bike as a retirement gift to myself. Haven’t ridden any sort of bike since I took my bike test in 2000 and haven’t ridden a dirt bike since 83 (battered ty 175). What I mean by riding a dirt bike loosely translates to wobbling around a quarry in Bradford avoiding anything more than a mole hill. anyway I am going to treat myself and was wondering if I could get some input on what would be a good first bike. I’ll be buying new. I’d like a montesa 300 but it might be too much bike! I can source Beta, Gas Gas Montesa TRS Scorpa etc. I also like the thought of 4 stroke from a mainte…

I acquired this bike some 7 years ago from a very good friend who said, get it going and its yours for your son to ride it when hes old enough to. I did but my friend was tradicly killed 6 months later in a bike accident. I ran the bike for a couple of years after that, replaced the points and plug but then its been in storage for some years and I am struggling to start it.The condensor has been checked and is ok. I dont know exactly what model it is, or the engine size. The engine number shows 29MO2718** the ** may be only scratches and not part of the serial number. I want to restore the bike back to its original condition as I promised this to my son who is now big en…
