Given the New weight limit in the WTC and the 290cc limit on 2 strokes presumably to make Honda's, (I am not going to refer to them as Montesa's any more), more competitive what is the situation in the UK? Like many My Son has bought a 300CC bike with the idea of entering a few Nationals. Is it now Persona non grata or do we assume that any bike sold in the UK is OK for the BTC?

Mine doesn't have a photo on as I did it online and it didn't ask for one does it matter and how can I get a photo on it when I renew it

with not being a member of a club, i thought i would apply for my Trial Registration with the ACU, so i could just turn up at meetings and have my licence all done, below is an email i was sent after i paid my £10 but i have not received a licence yet, does it take a long time or have i missed something. Credit where credit is due! I applied for my licence and my two sons licences on the 28th of December and sent off the parental consent form on the same day, I received all three licences back today. Considering the time of year and the number of renewals that must be in the system, brilliant thank you.

We are struggling with the additional requirements stipulated by the MSA for the Colmore Cup on 3rd March. The £2.75 per rider isn't a problem, we've put the entry fee up to cover this. Producing a map and sending it with the completed paperwork has been easy. (I know I did this.) Checking that the route doesn't follow/cross any footpaths, restricted byways etc is a little harder, but has now been completed. But.... how on earth can we send a letter to every houshold within 100m of the 28 mile route? It's almost impossible withthe man power we have available. More worrying still is our LDT later in the year, this is 75 miles round. What are other clubs doing?

I ride with both ACU and AMCA clubs and i was wondering if AMCA is also no stop? In the AMCA events ive been riding no stop. Cheers,

As a spectator at the last event I had words with competitors that were larking around off course, and nearly run over by a child jumping his bike. Its not my place to tell them its a responsible parents job. If hit by a competitor who is doing stunts or practicing off section,( not just children,) am I or the competitor insured if any injuries are sustained? Some parents seem to let there children go off and try obstacles that arn't marked out for that meeting. Is this acceptable behaviour?

has the acu made a decision on stop / no stop for next years youth championships ?

Given the announcement last week that it is likely legislation will require new road bikes to have either linked or anti-lock braking, depending on engine size, from 2016 can the ACU say whether the FIM intends to lobby on this to get exemption for trials bikes or will we effectively see the end of modern trials using the road, few though they may be? Or will the SSDT perforce become "classic watercooled".

According to the ACU's news release - "The ACU will again be offering new and existing members of the ACU the opportunity to renew their licences Online in readiness for the 2013 season. This is the second year this service has been offered at the Show following its inaugural success last year." Following on from the no-stop or stop British Championship issues is there a good way to communicate with and get the views of the riders and other interested people. Historically the meetings at Rugby to discuss such things are often poorly attended due to many reasons. A few are listed but I guess there's loads. It's too expensive to go. I am too busy to attend. If I go is it worth the effort. Will my views be taken into account as they are all old codgers. They only listen to what the top lads think. Our club has recently been given permission to use a brand new venue to stage a trial. New venue, new sections. That doesn't happen very oftenthese days. What's more, it has a club house and a large carpark and the course can be a mile or more round each lap. We needed to impress the owner. We would like to go there again. With this in mind, I held a briefing in the club house prior to any bikes being ridden. I explained that we needed to be on our best behaviour etc. It poured down. Three of the sections deteriorated a little and became very muddy, but overall things went very well. Until, that is I returned to the carpark to find a rider pressure washing his bike. …

just wont to see if anybody else thinks the same as me about the ACU is it time for them to move over and get new blood into look at the trials seen.Is it full of old blokes that wont let go(it worked 40 years ago so it should work now)i have worked with guy that is putting a lot in to motox and trying new things that no one else has done thinking out side the box and it is working does trials need this.i think it does for sure.

Is there any data showing rider statistics in the UK? I assume that the ACU / SACU have numbers based on licence holders. Is this data available? Then there are quite a few who don't have this and still ride plus other organisations like the AMCA. I want to build a picture of the size of the UK trials market for some 'research' Cheers in advance Ian

Here's a topic for constructive discussion. Certain interested parties are asking ACU Centres for their opinion on the current age and machine regulations for youth riders. In our club we have very few under 16's, despite positively promoting the youth side of trials with championships, trophies, conducted routes and even a youth trial, we are struggling to attract the younger riders. Personally I don't think a change in the age groups or machine capacities would make any difference to entries. eg 6 year olds on 80's, 13 year olds on 250's etc etc What do you think, could a change make a difference to youth entries? With only a handful of riders in the world able to get the best from a modern trials bike, the recent change of rules to non stop may not be enough to make a real difference to the sport. If bikes were heavier this would limit their capabilities, but this is a difficult change to make, check and enforce. If bikes were less powerful it would make a difference, but again, next to impossible to put in place. If suspension was less effective it would be a big handycap but this is impossible to introduce. Just read on the SACU website that they're going back to £10 day licences for club and some nationals.
