ACU Discussion

With the change of name to this championship I with others was concerned if there were to be many rule changes, I spoke to the acu stall at the dirt bike show, and as I understand, the rules are very similar to last year. They are to introduce a over 60s class ??. Class F. They will give oganizers the chance to have 50% of the sections with an alternative easier route. classes B ( twinshock)... C ( aircooled mono),,,, and over 40 ... to ride harder route, all others to ride 50/50 route. Classes B..C..D.. can ride 50/50 route but not score points. seems all good to me, not to sure about the over 60 class, there is normally only about 10 riders who do most rounds in t…

if anyone concerned with the acu reads this can you please update the classic championships on the web page ,they are 2 rounds out of date, I have tried e mailling the acu direct but thats a waste of time.

Have any dates been set for National Clerk of Course seminars? And have the Claasic and Miller series dates been decided yet?

Just picking up on the story about the Skelder Bank round of the Maxxis British MX Champs, where a number of officials made an error of judgement concerning a protest and were later suspended and fined (plus costs) for their error. I appreciate that we all agree to abide by the rules of the ACU and the National Sporting code lays out a structure of penalties including fines, so we can't complain if we make a mistake and end up getting fined..... But, is it a bit harsh to fine people who are unpaid volunteers?

Hi there, i'm rather confused with the acu licence form, what boxes do i need to tick for trials registration, i was a member about 2 years back, and now just getting back into trials and i remember it was about 30 pounds, has it gone up? Much Appriciated Reguards Richard

Have I missed something or do we now not have a World Champion Trials Rider? I have just received the winter (2006) edition of the ACU magazine and to my surprise and many others I might add there is no mention of Alexz and or Sam and there outstanding achievement this year. Now I may be being somewhat biased as both come from my centre and I may be doing the ACU an injustice here as they may well have a plan to do a full double page spread on Alexz and Sam in the next issue. Whilst I fully support the ACU I do feel somewhat aggrieved when they fail to acknowledge such achievement. I could say more to which I might incriminate myself so for now will leave it at that.…

Well the Bill got through it's first stage yesterday and is now to go to committee. It's on it's way. So John what EXACTLY is the ACU doing / going to be doing to represent the interests of it's license holders? This bill will have an effect on just about every branch of two wheel sport of which the ACU is supposed to be the governing body. strangely enough this also includes mini moto competitions. Lets be honest off road motorcycling (trials) has a bad image, albeit with the un-informed public who assume that anyone riding a trials bike is some marauding balaclava wearing youth out to destroy the peace and tranquility of the countryside. Hi, I have noticed that some Trials & Enduro clubs operate as a Limited liability company, is there a good reason for this & what are the pro`s & con`s for doing this ? . My local ACU motor cycle club runs both trials & enduro`s but are not a limited club, can anyone shed any light on this. Many thanks

Following concerns expressed at the recent British Trials Champ meeting where the T & E were asked to be more selective in the choice of eligible Youth riders, and also due to the fact that in 2006 there were two A Class Championships running in parallel, riders eligible for the Youth Class in the British Championship will be decided after the first 2 rounds of the 2007 A Class Youth Championship. I now confirm that due to the recent change by the FIM of the date of the Japanese World round - the following dates have be changed. The new dates are: June 3rd Cumberland County MCC - Alan Trophy Trial - Novogar June 10th Lighweight MCC - Colin Appleyard - British Solo Trials Champ The T & E wish to particulary thank both clubs for being so flexible and resolving a very difficult sitaution and ensuring that riders were still able to compete in these events. I hear the Alan is going to have a bumper entry - so get your entries in early ( wish I were younger)

It was felt that at some rounds there were some riders taking part who are not up to the level required to contest a British Championship, at Expert level and these riders tended to ride together and numerous failures tended to cause a delay for other riders. I have heard a rumour that the Observing rules for the 2007 British Trials Championship are going to revert back to the old FIM rules, i.e. stop for a 1 etc. Is this true? If so, I personally think that this would be a backward step for the Championship. This was the only opportunity for our top Adults and rising youth stars to hone there skills before venturing into Europe and beyond. Can anyone shed any light on this? John ??

I couldn't make it to the first training course in November due to work, and admittedly I've had to leave it late to apply for the January course due to my wife's work (nurse shift patterns etc). I sent the application in a bit before xmas, but its full up (Saturday 13th January). Does anybody know of anyone who's not able to attend? ACU can let me know possibly next Thursday, but only if people actually cancel rather than not turn up. Sooner I know the better. I still need to arrange send my kids off somewhere for half the day.
