My '74 Mar is really, really difficult to start from cold. Lots of kicking, plug heating and tickling it eventually fires and runs. There's no 'almost starting' - the penultimate kick is no different from the previous 20 (or 30). When it's warm it runs and ticks over fine and will re-start first time but leave it a few hours, let alone days, I'm back thinking of selling ! Current plug is an NGK BP5ES Any ideas ?

  2. I have an Amal carburettor with the number 627 cast into it and 429 stamped into it. Is this the standard mar carburettor? The main jet is a 140 and the needle jet is a 106. Are these somewhere near correct? My new (to me) mar has apparently come from Italy if that might make a difference

Hi could someone please tell me what the shock length is on a mkii Mar please. And also apart from price what advantage is there to putting a flat sprocket on the rear with the spacer? Does it help prevent the spindle from bending Many thanks

I haven't attempted to remove it yet, but my kick-start is loose, ie. It doesn't stay in the folded position to keep it out of the way during riding. Is there a warn part I can replace / build back up with weld? Or is it a case of throw it away and completely replace?

I recently heard from a friend who said he heard from a reputable source that OSAA is going out of business. Story is that GasGas had purchased Ossa some time ago and had been having trouble. They can not afford to save both brands. Anyone have any info on this? I LOVE my Ossa and can't imaging anyone letting all the R&D that went into creating this fine machine go to waste! If it happens, what about parts, re-sale value, etc. Input?

Should the sump guard have a spacer between the bottom chassis mounts and guard? And should it also have the steel piece between the bolts and the guard, like it does on the front mount? Without a spacer the sump drain plug is below the guard.

I'm looking for a sump guard for my Ossa. I think its a 71/72, it seems to have had rear passenger foot rest stays welded on the swing arm, I can't imagine these would be standard. I will try and attach some pictures, any feedback would be welcome. Cheers

He said sounds good, i rode it, but not right, i can tell!! let him have a ride he agreed, says could be loose crank end nut?? anyone shed any light on this? it seems sort of rough, not as smooth as it was, course feeling?? Never felt like it would stall before, but now does?? Ideas?? Ian

Should there be a spacer on both sides of the front wheel? I have just undone the clamp bolts for the spindle and the shocks sprung away from each other.. Are they bent or am I missing a spacer? Pictures of the full set up would be great.

  14. Both me and my mate have an ossa mar. Yesterday we had them side by side and we noticed that my bike has the brake on the left, and his is on the right? Which is correct? When googling images of ossa's we have found both?

Not knowing much at all about MAR's I wanted to show what this particular job entailed. I am certain that it may not be of any help to all, but maybe someone will benefit from this small task. As received said sprocket had 4 holes @ .404 & a bore to match wheel, that said I was wondering if in fact the later MAR's used shoulder bolts to attach said sprocket?? Anyway set up on mill & carefully bored to .591 (15mm locating lugs), alls well now. Thank you Larry

I'm pretty new to trials and fancy a newer bike. I really wanted a 4 stroke Beta but I just can't find one. I'm now looking at 2 strokes again. I've come across a 2013 TR280i but know nothing about them. I wouldn't even know how to identify it as a 2013 model? What's a good price for one of these and what should I be looking out for? Cheers!

Seems to be the day for Mar questions.. So, I don't have a key for the steering lock. How do I remove the barrel ? Then, if I do get it out, are replacements available ??

Well tomorrow I'm doing a trial on a borrowed 250 mar to see how I like the bike before buying one. Already had a little play around the yard on it and was impressed on how smooth it was compared to the fantic iv been riding. The power comes in so steady with no snappy jumpy movement which also made it great to turn tightly. Hopefully the weather will turn for the best and the trial won't get cancelled. Will post how I get on and how the bike rode.

hi, we have a 1975 ossa 250 MAR . its nice and clean but we cant get it running. this is because the original amal carb is shot. needs a whole new carb. the current one is all scored and the float bowel does not join properly and you can see light between the gap. would like to get an after market one on it. just something that will make her run nicely. the ossa we have is where the carb bolts onto the cylinder and not into a rubber boot which some do.( apparantly this is rare?) it also has no choke and just a primer which pi****s fuel everywhere. please can someone point me in the right direction for a new one and where i can get it? many thanks!
