Greetings After spending the better part of my day following my riding buddy's MAR, I politely asked if he could find an alternative to the obnoxious Skyway type silencer he is using. This thing sounds like an old RM 250 or worse. I'm guessing Skyway as it looks exactly like the ones we used back in the day. He has repacked it but it's still rather loud. It's not the pickle style that I've seen as stock issue. What's the hot ticket for these bikes? I have a small Super Trapp - 1 1/4" inlet that I thought about giving him, but I think that maybe a WES unit or something similar would look and work better. It's really important that we keep our bikes as qui…

  2. Hi all My Clymer manual for the Ossa MAR says to use a new gasket on the crankcase halves, grease the surfaces and to NOT use any gasket glue. How well does this seal? What are your experiences? The gasket set I got from 'In Motion' seems very high quality so I can see why, and the surfaces are pretty good too. However, with a long history of working on leaking Brit bikes (and old Jap classics) I thought I'd ask.... Had to shim up the crank and gearbox too as the new gasket is about .25mm thicker than the old one. Fiddly, but it has to be done.

Yesterday I had a strange incident while doing a rough track - rear brake got locked up. The disc and the saddle was overheated (it smoked), brake pedal was completely locked and unmovable. Needed some 5-10 minutes to cool down and then worked fine again, pedal started to move and brakes worked again. There were no leaks. Anyone else had this? Oil seems to be quite dark from the master cylinder inspection window. I wonder if I need to overhaul the master cylinder and the caliper hydraulics or just suffice with replacing the DOT4 oil for now?

  4. Hi all Presently restoring a TR77 that has been in bits for 15+ years. The crankcases were painted a silvery colour and I had this all vapour blasted off today. The casings underneath look superb, and the alloy (at this time) shows no signs of corrosion. As they are sand-cast, I assume that the alloy is pretty good quality. Were they painted originally other than on the green TR77's? I'd rather leave the alloy bare if it doesn't corrode. Was there any reason for painting them? I'd appreciate your experiences with unpainted cases Thanks Adrian

Not used the bike for a couple of weeks, when it ran fine. Laid it up while I tended to the rear wheel bearing issue. Fixed that and thought I would just give it a lap or two round the garden. Started on the third kick then coughed and died.......Aha ! No fuel. Topped up with fresh fuel and tried to start but no joy. Took plug out, which was a bit sooty but not wet. After many kicks I got it to fire but it wouldn`t catch and rev. Eventually got it to run but sounded rough and like it was misfiring. It cleaned up a bit when it warmed up but still feels lumpy and won`t tick over. The only other thing that changed was I added 50ml of gear oil to bring it up to 400ml as men…

I have the 2011 280i and it appears to only run one bearing on the disc side, which I have replaced. I see there is a conversion kit to upgrade to a 2 bearing type but can`t find anyone that has it in stock. Anyone know where I can obtain this kit at a reasonable cost with shipping to the UK ?

How much gearbox oil should I put in my 2013 bike, it has had the 2014 mods done, ie the breather near the front sprocket has been blocked and a new breather fitted round the back of the engine near the kickstart

I've just re assembled the front wheel and put it back on my bike. Is it me or does everything seem a pain to do on this bike!! I ended up having to slacken off both fork clamps and move the stanchions upwards just to align the brake plate, admittedly I haven't yet fitted the rear wheel. Then I struggled to fit the spacer and speedo drive, there didn't seem enough room. I've given up for today, maybe a couple of pints and some sleep will help!!

Me again ;-) Sorry for all of the questions! The gas light is always on, but the tank is full...and I have gone through more gas than is just in the lower tank (2L I heard) and I haven't run out. Any ideas? BTW, the other lights work for blinkers and lights, so I don't think the bulb swapped position. I think there are only 3 bulbs (nothing in top right). I do see that there is a sensor in the bottom tank and appears to be connected to the correct light (green/black wire if I remember). Thanks!

Hi, I have a 2012 Explorer and bought the regular tr280 brake pedal. Anyone know a link to any instructions? Or a video? Do I have to bleed the brakes or is this just a bolt-on? I didn't want to start removing things before asking ;-) Thanks!

  12. I have looked at the manual, but the description and pictures aren't enough for me to really understand. Is the hose that extends from the front of the "top tank" a vent hose? From the manual, this looks to be yes. I have a hose extending out and it looks correct to me. On the bottom tank, there is a metal "nipple" (near the top) that rotates 360 degrees and when the tanks are full, does leak gas out of it. The nipple looks like it would have a hose attached to it, but there is none currently. How should this be setup? Do I just point the nipple up/front and deal with the gas that sloshes out? Or, if this is a vent, should it also have a hose? I can try…

Hello all- Is there a trick to reassembling the '72 MAR 250 kick starter lower and upper. The two small springs and bearing are giving me fits. Sure don't need any more of those! Any help appreciated. Herman

I will drive it on trails and there will be some dirt roads also so it would be nice if it could run close to 70 km/h.. if not, where can i buy sprockets? best regards / new beginner swede

  16. Anyone have any instructions how to maintain those Marzocchi forks on the newer Ossa TR-series? Mine's 2013 model with fairly good amount of usage, so thought about doing some maintenance on the forks. Haven't found any instructions how to open 'em Marzocchi aluminium forks, seal replacement, how much oil or any oil level marker on filling? Any info, photos or links on this would be highly apreciated! TIA, Margus

Hi there guys, just wondered if anybody has succeeded in getting a "duel map" installation installed on there "standard" bikes,I know the "Factory Edition" has this function and so did the last years "SSDT Model". I see Bob at Ossa Canada has mentioned he now has the "Duel Map Switch" available, I assume just running the latest Map-13 does still not let you access this function even once the "Duel Map Switch" is installed. Anybody know the correct Map Number or File Name of the "Duel Map" ? Also I have been trying to find a flywheel puller for the TR 280i,has anyone seen these for sale anywhere?

Has anyone replaced the fuel filter? (Modern OSSA) I'm getting a 'fuel pump over current' which on every other bike I've ever had means a partially plugged fuel filter. I believe it is more time consuming than popping out the gearbox. Bike still runs great- I wouldn't have known but I put the software on to check things out. (Around 270 hours) Mark
