  1. I think the rear is the 6004-2RS bearing and the front is 6095RS. You didn't mention what year your bike was

but the front bearing you mention is for the Marzocchi type fork, with the larger OD axle than the earlier GG ones.

Alternatively measure (ruler will do) outside diameter, inside diameter and the thickness. My local agricultural spares place has always found what I wnated and its heaps cheaper than a specialist trials shop. I've also used simplybearings website which is dead easy to use as well.

  2. Hi

    Can anyone help me please.

i've just bought a gas gas txt pro 280 2006 and i could do with a few questions answering.

1>>> do these bikes make a rattling sound as a rule? i hear they do.. this one i have bought seems to be more clutch related as when u pull the clutch in, it disappears then makes the odd rattling noise... is this the clutch sticking? if so how do i stop this from happening?

i dont believe its a little end bearing noise as it would be constant, wouldnt it??

2>>> i have had the bike standing upright and i cant seem to see any oil in the glass window? should i be seeing any? is the fact that im not seeing any, anything to do with the rattling noise?

hope someone can shed light on this. it will be much appreciated.

    thanks

    johnny

The rattle is completely normal for a gasgas, as long as it disapears when the clutch is pulled.

Yes you should see oil in the window when the bike is held completely straight up right. I'd drop what ever is in the bike now and refill, ATF seems a popular choice.

  3. I reckon the general rule is about 1/3 of the available suspension travel, This could vary between different bike manufactures.

But personal preference is also a rule.

Ah,so, 164mm rear travel = 54mm sounds reasonable, too the tape measure!

  4. sorry yes its a pro,a friend has the same set up on his bike and i just like the feel of his clutch it seems alot lighter and more progressive,i dont know the ins and outs of it just thought it was something worth trying :)

Check the settings of your clutch pack, I believe its simple to alter the feel of the clutch by altering the finger height via clutch pack thickness. There's some good how to vids on youtube from GasGas USA.

  5. i've got a 2002 txt50 boy and its started cutting out after about an hour or so ,have cleaned and blown out carb and its still doing it, runs fine up till that point then its not keen on starting, leave it a while and it starts but will only run for a couple of minutes then cuts out ....any ideas ?????

    cheers

    Change the plug.

  6. I think a little lubing with 2T oil is the order of the day, not sure about more oil in the premix but I'd think it would be a good idea, someone more knowledgable will no doubt be along shortly. Where'd you get the piston kit from?

  7. Those that have ridden the wee scorpa 4t's love 'em, myself included. I did not ride the 175 racing version, just the standard one, but would think it would be an excellent lower end clubman bike. I'm certain that the majority of clubmen riders would loose less marks on a smaller/less powerful machine. I rode it a great deal for about 18 months and sold it for more than I paid for it at the first attempt. The combination of a simple durable low maintenace air cooled motor in a gasgas chassis is very appealing to me. I like my 200 pro but can't help wondering when the first engine rebuild will be needed, done the kickstart pawl and gear twice now.

  8. Would be a pretty much perfect for me, wobbly clubman level. Should be priced well there are loads of the yam 125 engine about in various machines, and lots of tuning options available too. Bring it on GG!

  9. Ta for the reply, after walking away from it and coming back fesh and unflustered I can see I have assembled the shaft incorrectly, I got that very strong circlip thing the wrong side of the aluminium top hat spring guide, henc ethe loss of about 1mm worth of movement. I did file a small flat off the edge of the top hat in line with the bulge in the crank case where the enging mouning interferes with it which made it a lot easier to wriggle in and out. Yes Jim makes it look very easy. I hope the 08 verison of the shaft leads to a more reliable assembly. I really dread the thought of those little bits swilling around inside the engine. I wonder if it is worth mounting one of those neodymium magnets between the bash plate and the clutch cover to try and catch the bits which come off the gears

  10. I'm having a bit of greif getting a new kick start shaft to fit properly into my 07 200 pro. I'm renewing the usual damaged kick/idle gear as well as the shaft and it's pawl, I understand that the 08 shaft has a quicker helix which helps with the engagement issues (it looks a shallower helix as well). My trouble is that after wressling the shaft assembly spring etc back into the case, which is a mission all on it's own, the pawl cannot drop away far enough to miss the idle gear on the kick start return stroke. It looks to be only a millimetre or so and it would miss it, very frustrating! Any clues? It's driving me mad.

  11. I'm thinking about freshening up my 200 pro, it's sounding a little rough now I suspect the mains are getting on a bit, just wondered if anyone here has done a fairly comprehensive rebuild either themselves or a dealer job. I'd be looking at doing rings and little end, mains(not big end hopefully) and the kick start gears + whatever bearings there are in there while it's all apart. Any clues as to expected costs would be appreciated.
