  1. I have just noticed a Model 49 on 'Spinning Wheel Classics' website with an interesting letter of provenance, I have exactly the same bike including Homerlite tank and 'later' exhaust in bits in my shed, I have taken said bits to Mr Millers and he says they are just standard M49 of 1970s manufacture so my question is does anyone else have the same bike and are there more than the four? I also notice certain spelling mistakes in the letter surely even Sammy could spell his own address and the word Scottish with two T's, Oh and was there a Scottish TWO day trial in1969? Heres hoping only the other two bikes appear!

  2. I was lucky enough to ride the pre 65 Scottish twice, 2009 and 2010 on this bike and finished mid table but would have really struggled on the rocks with real pre 65 forks! (not that i didnt struggle)

  3. Hi all I am glad that there is so much interest in my tricked up Ariel I suppose the reason that the bike is in its present guise is the fact it gets ridden at least three weekends every month in competition, mostly in modern trials against modern bikes with tight sections and in most cases comes out on top, yes its a replica frame but engine (500 longstroke) and gearbox are genuine Ariel as well as all the other parts which are pre 65 legal as opposed to the Cub seen on Sunday with a modern carb, I would imagine most of the other bikes are not worked as hard as mine and have already been returned to their sheds ready for next year!

  4. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a fibre glass cover for a primary drive cover? I'm looking for one with a flat bulge (if that makes sense) at the crank end?

SM Products sell some but they have a huge round bulge on their ones. Thanks

I have a mould for the 'flat bulge' Ariel chaincase but need to find a competent fibreglass or carbon fibre craftsman to get some made

  5. Having trouble deciding which class to ride for 2010 do i ride the bog standard HT5 in the the pre unit springer class on the easy route or the slightly more modified HT5 in the British replicas on the hard route. Is there any point riding the bigger bikes at all? or maybe they should have another Unit and Pre unit british replica class on the hard route?

  6. I have just acquired a cotton trials bike which i am told has an REH 360 conversion on a villiers 32a bottom end, does anyone have any info on these bikes and approx dates of manufacture. is it pre 65? (no frame number present)

  7. I would like to say a massive thankyou to Mike coat and the team at Waterside trials club for the effort that you put in to building the trials demo sections. we showed that there is more to trials than just keeping your feet up with an outstanding display how to collect maximum points on most of the sections! and thanks to Steve Saunders who made it all look so easy. If anyones got some pics lets have a look.
