  1. I am off to the Netley Marsh bike jumble Friday and Saturday and will be on stand H33 i will take the frame and parts so if anyones interested they can have a look and hopefully shed some light on it (its not for sale though)
  2. I have just noticed a Model 49 on 'Spinning Wheel Classics' website with an interesting letter of provenance, I have exactly the same bike including Homerlite tank and 'later' exhaust in bits in my shed, I have taken said bits to Mr Millers and he says they are just standard M49 of 1970s manufacture so my question is does anyone else have the same bike and are there more than the four? I also notice certain spelling mistakes in the letter surely even Sammy could spell his own address and the word Scottish with two T's, Oh and was there a Scottish TWO day trial in1969? Heres hoping only the other two bikes appear!
  3. I was lucky enough to ride the pre 65 Scottish twice, 2009 and 2010 on this bike and finished mid table but would have really struggled on the rocks with real pre 65 forks! (not that i didnt struggle)
  4. Hi all I am glad that there is so much interest in my tricked up Ariel I suppose the reason that the bike is in its present guise is the fact it gets ridden at least three weekends every month in competition, mostly in modern trials against modern bikes with tight sections and in most cases comes out on top, yes its a replica frame but engine (500 longstroke) and gearbox are genuine Ariel as well as all the other parts which are pre 65 legal as opposed to the Cub seen on Sunday with a modern carb, I would imagine most of the other bikes are not worked as hard as mine and have already been returned to their sheds ready for next year!
  5. I have a mould for the 'flat bulge' Ariel chaincase but need to find a competent fibreglass or carbon fibre craftsman to get some made
  6. Cracking idea Charlie put me down 3x HT5's for starters
  7. Having trouble deciding which class to ride for 2010 do i ride the bog standard HT5 in the the pre unit springer class on the easy route or the slightly more modified HT5 in the British replicas on the hard route. Is there any point riding the bigger bikes at all? or maybe they should have another Unit and Pre unit british replica class on the hard route?
  8. surely back in the days when sammy miller modified his Ariel i am certain there would have been competitors unhappy with the advantage he was gaining by doing such things, but things have to move on whats the point of a trial if only 70% of the entry finish due to using original 1960s technology.
  9. Surely this sentiment also applies to the likes of bsa's etc how many C15T's were actually built? especially now with the use of modern otter frames it seems these bikes fall under the radar and the Ariel riders who have success become targets you still need some skill to keep your feet up
  10. finally put my cotton project up for sale don't know much about it so if anyone knows anything about it could they please pass the info on so i can add it to the description many thanks mark.
  11. I have just acquired a cotton trials bike which i am told has an REH 360 conversion on a villiers 32a bottom end, does anyone have any info on these bikes and approx dates of manufacture. is it pre 65? (no frame number present)

  14. I am trying to find the builder of a frame which i have for sale on ebay it has an X stamped on the headstock and a frame number begining XG 25**4 any help would be appreciated
  15. after all that is said about about sammy and just looking at the photos it just shows what a true living legend he is i just hope i can still ride when i get to his age (fat chance i have trouble at 35)
  16. looking at the ht on ebay could you ride it as is, and be competitive in pre 65 trials?
  17. I would like to say a massive thankyou to Mike coat and the team at Waterside trials club for the effort that you put in to building the trials demo sections. we showed that there is more to trials than just keeping your feet up with an outstanding display how to collect maximum points on most of the sections! and thanks to Steve Saunders who made it all look so easy. If anyones got some pics lets have a look.
  18. Looking for a company preferably on the south coast who can re-plate a 250cc fantic barrell. any suggestions?
  19. Just spoke to smc and the ring set is only
  20. Does anyone know where to get hold of top end rebuild components ie: piston ring, gudgeon pin and small end bearing. for the fantic 301 250cc
  21. so far so good the engine fits well and exhaust is on, just one small problem the carb doesn't fit. Any suggestions would be appreciated
  22. Thanks for the help and advice, will be giving it a go.
  23. I have been told that the 301 fantic 250cc engine will fit directly into the 240 pro frame. Is this true and does anyone have a good one available or maybe a good 212cc bottom end.
