  1. Hi, Thanks for that, after the third time of cover removal I worked out how it should be assembled! Was exactly how you said. Regards, John
  2. Hi, does your kickstart "click" when you turn the engine by hand? I have the same bike which is doing this. Regards, John.
  3. Hi Andy, I made a timing tool by hollowing out an old spark plug and drilling and tapping a 5mm thread in the side. I got a piece of ally dowel and a kind engineer friend marked it off in 2mm increments. The ally dowel is approx 75mm long and fits through the centre of the old plug body. It can easily tell you where tdc is and 2.5mm before. I believe they are available commercially (ebay ect) but I found it simple and great fun to make. Will gladly send you a photo if required. Regards, John.

    Cota 200

Hi, I hope someone can help! I have a 1980 Cota 200, the kickstart works fine but when you manually turn the flywheel the kick mechanism can be heard to ratchet on the pawl. I have removed the cover and cant see anything missing or amis! Has any one else got one and is this normal? The bike starts and runs great. Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks.
  5. Thankyou Ian, much appreciated. Regards , John.
  6. Hi Everyone, My name is John and I live in Wolverhampton. For the last few months I have been restoring a 1980 Montesa Cota 200. I took it to a practice track this weekend for the first time, cracking fun but the bike needs sorting properly. Anyone interested in twinshocks in the wolves area please get in touch, clubs, places to ride ect. Regards, John.
  7. Hi All, Could anyone tell me the correct ignition timing setting for a 1980 Montesa Cota 200, points and plug gap? Many Thanks, John.
