  1. I was just reading the Todotrial website and noticed that Alfredo Gomez, (new World Youth Champion of course ) got a hero's welcome at the airport when he arrived home. He got an audience with the Mayor and let out on the balcony to crack open a bottle of bubbly (F1 Style) in front of his adorning fans gathered outside. Fair play to the guy! It must be something to be a world champion and get that kind of treatment.. <_<

Similar to what happens over here I bet

  2. So is a good second hand bike for 2000 or 2500 a better deal than a new cheapo knock off version, I can see the attraction to the punter to buy a new one, but has many know TV's VCR's all eletrical type products are now built over there, and many other items including toothpaste containing polyglycol, kid's toys painted with led, and food items with cardboard filler to make up the bulk.

I would rather have a job and pay more for a spanish built bike then no job and not be able to afford the knock off, companies spend a lot of time and $ to make a product, why bother if it will be imediately copied and sold half price.

China is the new Japan of the 60's/70's where they sneaked in and dominated. Then we saw the demise of long standing British traditional marques.

They aren't doing anything that hasn't been done before by someone else and quite frankly, there really isn't a lot you can do particularly as Sherco don't seem to have any IP protection on their machine.

  3. like the gear saunders is wearing.

It's really nice up close too. I beleive he will soon be selling it, as soon as he can get it from the French

Exactly how 'close up' did you actually get then Barry :D

.... but young Alex did make me feel the knee pads on a pair of his trousers .....

It's not getting any better mate :D

  4. Historicly, during the last 20 years we have had two dominant riders, Jordi Tarras & Dougie Lampkin. They both started their reigns in their early twenties.

If Bou is to continue this trend, then his challenger will be 13 or 14 years old right now and unknown to most of us.

Several brilliant riders were just born at the wrong time. Colomer, Fuji, Jarvis. Without the above 2 riders these three would surely have had more success.

Lets hope for our young riders, (Brown, Dibs, Wiggy, Haslam, Danby etc.........) history does not repeat itself.

I think you are pretty much right here Toms Dad.

The other brilliant rider to be overshadowed had to be Bosis.

Young Brown I saw when he was in Australia, and to me was the pick of the crew that came on over for our SuperTrial.

If he could be picked up by Montesa and get his mum to give him a few extra feeds, would not be surprised to see him really charge up the rankings.

I wouldn't disagree with that. I think Michael Brown has the best chance out of the uk's current best riders to get the WTC title first! Then after that, it could be a host of riders as there are so many good ones about right now :D

  5. Bou, if the desire stays within him AND he is in the right team, can continue to win for the next 5-7 years. I say that purely because he is a big step up from his peers at the top level, so anyone challenging him would have to get to the top level then go 2 steps further.

The other riders coming through right now in the youth/junior classes have got to keep developing to get to that level and thats an unknown how far they can go. Unless of course inline with what has been suggested, the next world champ is someone we don't know too much about right now?

    IMHO :D

  6. The bar is being up'ed by the young boys coming through, cycle trials is becoming more and more popular (more so in the states) and will prove a superb training basis for the youth coming through, if you look at the balance and skill involved, it far exceeds bmx'ing etc .... the next world champion will more than likely be from the states and come from nowt like a bolt out of the blue .... like bou did, i remember his first wildcard entry at hawk, who would have thought that in such a short time he would dominate world trials, indoor and out !.

The boys across the pond are taking an interest in this sport and there's 100's of them in skate parks now doing 720's on a razors edge without even thinking about it, skill levels that we think is impossible (look the vids up on youtube ... awsome)

No doubt they will have to make up there own set of rules to ensure thay can be 'world champions', but I'd bet the states are a big trials player within the next few years ... which wont be a bad thing for the sport. :D

I like your vision but your timing may be a little too premature. Pat Smage could do well but it will take a while for some others to come through. But saying that, I think you could be right! It certainly is a reasoned observation.

  7. WOah what you done andy , dont like the stacking idea ?

can we change it so it goes back to every reply loading up ? or not.

Looks like you have changed your personal settings to Outline . If you look at the top right of the forum under the t_reply.gif button, you will see a link drop down menu called Options . Click on that, then at the bottom ,change it to Standard.

    That should do it.

  8. Just to continue the congratulations to Team Atom and the Beta Top Trials Team. Apart from the fact that Michael is an incredible rider, the entertainment that Shaughan and himself provide inadvertently in the sections is just legendary! The smiles it puts on faces in the crowd is irreplaceable. Long may it continue

  9. It was great being among the supporters as Dougie entered the section. Even when he was just walking it through, You felt a great sense of presence of an Icon and just looking across at some faces of the crowd, they were just transfixed by him and his every move. And when he rode the section, the support from the crowd put up the hairs on the back of my neck!

After the trial at section 15, I saw him take his lad for a little ride up and away from the crowds. You could see in his face many emotions as he must of being reflecting on the day, his career, the future and many other things no doubt. A very poignant moment and one that will always stick in my mind.

Finally, it was great to be there to see it all, and at the same time, the new breed of Brits coming through as well. The legacy he left is in these riders and I am sure that will be something they will always be grateful for.

  10. Cope, Looks like black is the "in" colour in the new models.... passed on updating to an 07 Gasser because of the colour.

Now which bikes are not black ?

Actually, the bike does have a lot of White on it as Copemech said above. Maybe thats the new colour ?

  11. The photo's of the Master Class look great and the sections are prity big those guys still know how to ride a bike. How old is Steve he must be nearly 50?

The 08 Sherco is very tasty reminds me a little of my old 1997 315 Mont (white).

So its the big day tomorrow, "Come On Doug, James, Michael, Alexz, Ross and all the British riders". Thought i'd say that as i've haven't said anything on here yet.

Is the entainment for TC members going okay, not sure if anything is organised? I'm gutted i can't be there today or tomorrow especially when its Doug's final outing - well gutted.

Keep us posted on all that happens and just the the hell of it I'm saying again "Come On Dougie!!!!"

Just back from the 'Party in the Park' :rotfl: . One thing about trials is all the riders just coming in and mingling and chatting with the 'punters' ! You just don't see that in any other sports do you? Mint

Heath and Barry on the Barbie! With a true Australian's wife overseeing the proceedings (YamFans wife)

Big screen up watching 2005 WTC and even pretty fairy lights up around the tent. (think that was Andys idea)

Dougie looked very focussed and determined in practice. Hopes he does the ton tomoz !

  12. Ian is going to have us the phone sex------er, updates, via the blueberry!

Nice and warm and NO RAIN - ground pretty dry to be fair - Sections look good.

    Mini trial was fun

New 2008 Sherco's unveiled. New colours with white/blue/black frame for the 2T and red combo for the 4T.

Brand new Ceriani front forks look NICE  - New swan neck bike stand

    Didn't see a 2008 Caby as yet.

  13. If you can all break out of your tabloid inspired world there is a bigger picture.

    Just to simplify it, .....

Sounds like you think you hold a higher intellectual status on these things with this blatantly arrogant comment.. just to simplify it you say .. T***

Andy & Cota Kid , you say you won't be contributing to the flood victims but alas you will ! You will be contributing indirectly if you pay tax ( which of course you do).

  14. "**** ME ATOM" - "230K in Tax" You a plumber or summit?

Sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned that but that subject gets right on my tits! and no, I'm not a plumber

Let me guess... you sell rubber dingys and rent out water pumps and dehumidifyers.

No, but sounds like theres money in it
