  1. Does anyone know of a company/shop who is manufacturing/selling in-line alloy yokes for a Honda rtl250? I want to modify the fork angle but do not wish to cut the frame. Have seen a few companies selling yokes for the TLR250, but I not the RTL. Fairly sure the TLR yokes will not work unless someone knows better?! Any thoughts or ideas appreciated!
  2. Agree with the comments that the club did a great job with the sections given the slippery conditions, but the club does need to get into the 21st century with its communications! Didn't help with both Golden Valley Classic and Golden Valley MCC having adverts out for classic trials on the same day in the same area......still confused as to whether this is one or two clubs!
  3. Thanks for the feedback.....Pretty much where you guy's have said. Have been offered a Omega piston and rings (yes, £300!), but have decided to polish barrel and rebuild with new valve stem seals and see how it runs!! Have been told there is an internet site in Spain that sells them but I cannot find it and my Spanish isn't great!!!! Jerry

  5. I cannot comment on the TLM260, but as I own and ride regularly a 1985 RTL 250 , 1988 TLM 250 and a 1986 TLR250, I can give a fair review of these... As everyone says the RTL 250 in Rothmans colour sounds and looks stunning. Mine is in original spec, and its biggest disadvantage is the stance. As Woody says it feels like you are doing a handstand at times and takes some getting used to. If you persist with it you do adapt and it is a brilliant bike to ride, and the engine is a stunning piece of engineering. The TLM250 looks pretty, but ultimately suffers with similar stance problems to the RTL. Obviously as a 2 stroke it is a very different power characteristics and is fun to ride in dry grippy conditions, but I find an absolute bitch in the wet!! My TLR250 is by far the easiest to ride of the three, but it is now far removed from original spec....Modified frame , whitlock swinging arm, loads of weight saving measures...Its now a brilliant bike to ride, less power than the RTL, but will still put many a modern bike to shame!
  6. Thanks, for the feedback..having done a bit more research fairly certain this is a 1988 model. Definitely plastic tank with a rivetted seat unit.
  7. Have just acquired a 1987/88 air-cooled 327 Gas Gas. Bike was a barn find, and although largely complete, is knackered (technical term !) Intend to try and restore but much depends on whether I can get spare parts...including; Carburetor hose ( to air filter) Kick start Kick start shaft Mudguards ( or advice on after Market replacements) Rear wheel spindle Suspect bushes and bearings throughout! Can probably make / *******ised some bits but would be really helpful if anyone has any ideas on where I might find parts... I had an original 327 from new, and recall they never came with a Manual....any ideas if someone has a technical parts list or any technical drawings... Cheers for any help. Jerry
  8. Have worked my way through most combinations and much depends on your riding tyle and ability. A 9T front and 41T rear is about as low a gear ratio as I would recommend....Allows full use of 1st , 2nd and 3rd gear and suits most clubman class trials, particularly if tight turns are involved! A 9T front 39T rear works well if you are doing any road trials / riding mainly stream sections...You use 1st for virtually everything...I use this for the Sammy Miller rounds / IOM 2 DAY.
  9. Cannot give you the technical arguement, but as a rider who has a 1986 RTL 250 and a 1987 TLR 250, they are like chalk and cheese. The RTL has vastly more power, across the full engine range. The TLR is much smoother (= flatter!!) and generally easier to ride, but much less capable of handling modern trials. For an average clubman, I would say the TLR is more manageable, but the RTL gives a bigger grin factor!
  10. I have just stripped down the front forks on a Honda TLR250 as they were leaking oil. It looks like the "snap rings" which should hold the oil seals in place are missing. Does anyone know where I can source them or alternative method to secure the seals?

    Honda RTL 250

    I am rebuilding a 1986 Rothmans RTL250 (Drum brake version). Have managed to source most spares, but cannot find a replacement chain tensioner or the rubber chain guide that fits around the swinging arm. Can anyone help! I also would like to try and trace the history of the bike and would be interested if anyone has any thoughts on who can help. Cheers.
