  1. just picked up my new 2012 290! Now if it would just warm up a little......
  2. i want to get some seal savers for my new ride, 2012 sherco 290 and i need to know what size the front forks are.. i had the old ones that ryp carried that were long and really liked those but they are no longer available. Now i see seal saver brand has the long ones still that look very similar.
  3. yes, went through, he had drove 5.5 hrs to get it and i drove about 1.5 hrs towards him, so there was a lot invested even before the sale. after it started, it started every kick after, he totally understood thank goodness.
  4. Met the guy who bought my 04 sherco to deliver it to him, and wouldnt you know it, that thing would not start...It is always been a 1-2 kick start every time bike. I guess the sitting in the back of my truck all day in the freezing cold, it didnt want to fire up. After about 1/2 hour of messing with it, taking out the plug with the large adjustable wrench i had, i dried the wet plug off and it fired up....never fails,
  5. well thanks to a forum member and fellow TI member, i am going to be the owner of a brand new 2012 sherco 290 in a couple of weeks. Search is over and now for the fun to begin!
  6. I currently have an 04 290 and i am thinking about getting a newer bike. I would like to get a 2012 or 2013. Is there a lot of difference between the 12 and 13 models that make a big difference? i do not ride at a lower level, so i wont be doing any big splatters. Just trying to figure out if its worth waiting a while longer and getting a good used 13 over a good used 12..
  7. ok here is the clip but i filmed it on my phone so its not that great, but its a video...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHyYIb5U5p0&feature=share&list=UUD4TqQDEoxv6dG1lsIcg7aA
  8. I may have a video of ryan riding the section. I will check and if i do, i will get it posted.
  9. ended up cutting it down to 102 links and it seems to be about perfect. snail cams are about 1/2 way adjusted. So i am good for now.
  10. the 100 link chain is about 2 links short, so i guess its 102. got a longer one today to break down to the right size.
  11. i just want my bike to roll when i put on the gas....at my level i dont think wheelbase is a big issue. i picked up a couple of rk 520 100 link chains. Just to have an extra. I am sure the sherco one is best but even on ryans site he sells the did non roller 100 link for the bikes. Must be something to it if thats what he is stocking.
  12. thanks brian, i will just get a standard 520 non oring chain. i think mine has had it anyway.
  13. i think it says regina on it, i dont have a magnifying glass to make sure, here is a pic of what i have at each end. here is one on ebay, says 420 but have confirmed its a 520, a few extra links but i have access to a chain breaker http://www.ebay.com/itm/RK-Racing-520-M-Standard-Chain-114-Links-/230812925668?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35bd85bee4 http://www.ebay.com/itm/DID-520-STD-ROLLER-CHAIN-100-LINK-/400275167216?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d324257f0&vxp=mtr
  14. i see lots of new chains on ebay, most for around $30 shipped, including rk, did, bikemaster. i also see lots of oring chains. Is it better to go with non oring for a reason? also is one brand superior to the other?
  15. just had my chain come apart on my 04 sherco 290. Are these a standard non o-ring 520 chain? how many links is normal? i am just going to buy a new masterlink, but im thinking a new extra chain might not be a bad idea.
  16. you beat me to it. I just got home from the national. had about 120 riders. Saw some really great riding from all the riders. I was at section 1 sunday and it was really technical with 3 big rocks, made for some good observing. Pat was the only one to clean the section....and he did it 3 times.
  17. alright, now getting ready to come to ohio. I havent got to go help set up but i will be there working for the event.
  18. i have a gopro and really like it. It does a good job of getting a wide view. I paid alot for mine when i bought it but now i saw you can get the hero for around $140 in some places. The hero2 just came out so i guess that is why the price drop. Gopro also has great customer service. I had a mount break and it came off my streetbike and the camera went flying, I found it in pieces and i email gopro, sent them some pics and my receipt and they sent me a brand new camera!
  19. i dont own a new sherco, but the reason i really like sherco here in the usa is the support and parts availability. I can call up ryan young products and have any part i need in 1-3 days. I get mine next day...also i see ryan regularly at trials meets and he is more than happy to answer any questions you may have or address problems. Seems like many of the newer bikes have alot of the same features. Support the bike company that has the best support in your area!

    2012 sherco

I was able to ride the new 2012 sherco this weekend. I dont have much to compare it to, the only thing i have ridden is my 04 2.9 sherco, but what a difference! Bike was well balanced, had tons of power and just felt great. Thanks to Ryan Young for letting us have a go at his bike this weekend!
  21. put it back together today. The new seal took a little bit of pressure to get in there but it seems to be working for now. I put new oil in both forks and got it all back together. I also ordered some of the src fork boots that i put on as well for a little extra protection against dirt. Going to go over the bolts with a torque wrench tomorrow and then hopefully go for a ride. If all is well then i am ready for the next event in indiana this coming weekend!
  22. i had 1 friend weld it up and i took it to another older friend of mine that is one of those guys that can fabricate, build/fix anything. He took a couple looks at it and went at it. He had it near perfect in about 1/2 hour. I left it with him for the day, so hopefully i can pick it up tomorrow and see how it turned out. He was a machinist for years as well so he has the eye for what is right. I just hope he could get it right. I will post pics when i get it back if it works out. i called ryp today and ordered a new seal, washer, and dust seal from Ryan. He saw it when i did it and said with a little luck it would be ok..
  23. i am in ohio, usa. I am going to check tomorrow a couple of more places to see if they can do anything with it. If not, a dremel tool and some patience and hopefully i can get it in good enough shape. I dont have the $280 to "fork" out for a new one..lol, on top of the pricey seals and dust seals..
  24. it was cracked right at the top of the lower tube where the dust seal sits. I got it welded today and now have to try to get it back round. I took it to a couple of machine shops and they said it would not fit in their lathes to rebore the outer lip. So i may have to just use a dremel and start a little at a time.
