it is in the interest of dealers to do this but demo bikes only seem to appear when they have a new model new dealer etc...
better to blag a ride of bikes at trials, i always dish mine out to anyone interested.

Honda are like the cold war soviets, they don't want to give anything away until the have to. Don't be overly surprised if something comes out in the next few years, just don't expect it too soon.
If I were them allegedly sitting on lots of stock there is no way I would de-value it by an announcement like that.

It appears that all rumors of Honda not developing are true. Nothing outstanding here possible cat under massive guard, wheels, strange spindle protectors on rear......
I could make my 05 look like that booting a few extras on they must still be trying to refresh old stock and move it on

I use 6004 rs bearings in electric motors regularly and bikes from time to time. From what I have seen you get exactly what you pay for. Having negotiated huge discounts from bearing distributors cost has no bearing " no pun intended " on my choice. Cheap bearings are never going to last so I always fit the best with the largest clearance. I only pay around

tin of tyre weld
you would be surprised what cant be fixed with a outfit like that

Beware of jumping in with both feet, a 4t will generally take more effort to ride due to the weight, power delivery and alien ride in comparison to a 2t.
As with all bikes blag a ride and see what you think before committing.

If its the Ty 250 you have seen its not a bad start if its a good example its near the right sort of money. The reliability of of a Ty is good yet its in a funny place not much better than a twinshocks but in a class of modern bikes. If its around the sort of money you want to spend my suggestion would be a montesa 315. Although only a few years newer they are miles ahead in development and less of a handful in modern sections. Honda build quality is also excellent. A rough but mechanically sound one should be only a couple hundred more.

if you have decided on what bike you are already half way there. either way its time to visit some local trials, the club secretary and officials are always best to talk to. after the trial starts they usually have some spare time before riders start to return and are generally keen to help potential members. give them a wide berth when they are busy they will thank you for that. they will have the best local knowledge of who is selling what along with an idea of who's to avoid.
at a trial it is possible to blag a ride of most types of bike i for one dish mine out to almost anyone
bear in mind anyone you talk to will have their own opinions, i swear blind by montesa but not everyone will agree. when you decide on a bike have a look at trials central specific manufacturer pages they will give an idea of what to look out for.

Last night I went to see another montesa recommended by a friend. It was a local bike and is now in my garage.
Needless to say I am very happy but only found out about it because of fridays story.
Big thanks to Ian and not forgetting fergus for the recommendation.

i would have managed if that was all but the shock linkage and more so the loud knock from the engine added to the cracked sump casing

lets be honest here a cosmetically well used yet mechanically sound 05 is on the money at around 1750 upwards not one that needs 1500+ spent on it that is more spares or repairs

Having recently won a bike on a popular auction site i wish to offer a word of warning,
Having not used this before i wish i had been warned myself
described as "Bike is in excellent condition. Has had a full service and is ready to ride."
on the phone the young gent said it was a "minter"
i am new to online auctions and thankfully opted to pay cash when collecting then drove from north of dundee to north yorkshire
This is to the best of my opinion and am sure other faults exist.
wheel bearings front and back, swinging arm bearings and linkage collapsed - pads rear on metal damaged disc, front contaminated by leaking piston - serious oil leak from under engine - sump guard split and badly rock damaged - front brake needing bled - throttle cable outer broken cable sticking - 6 various bolts missing the worst was gear lever "it came off in my hand", most others changed for black allen bolts - silencer patched with car body filler and sprayed, end plug missing - fork leg badly pitted with sharp edges - vent pipe missing from fuel cap - plastics painted badly white - stickers wrecked - overspray all over rear of bike - chain adjusted beyond cam reach - chain tensioner block damaged, arm bent, spring stretched and mount worn - non trials bars fitted - possible rear shock issue. then i started it..........
needless to say i came home with an empty van
