    Beta Rev3

I'll be watching this watching this for developements. Mine's got such a pop to it it sounds like a .410 shotgun going off.
  2. Just completed the engine rebuild. All runs fine but there's three breather pipes. One thicker one that goes to the connector above the clutch and drops down at the side of the front sprocket, one thinner one to the right above the flywheel housing and a second thinner one zipped tied to the above that I can't recall where it goes to - Doh! seems to almost line up with the bottom of the carb/intake area but I can't for the life of me see the pipe to connect it to.. Also, as a two stroke newcomer I take it the idle screw is the thumb screw on these? Ta.
  3. I just did mine tonight and used the same method for both. Take cap off the reservoir, keep it topped up, open the bleed nipple and let the fluid run through. Once I'd topped it up twice I locked 'em off an they're both now working fine. Wipe off and excess and then chuck a bucket of water over it to wash off the fluid. Mssed about with syringe, bleed kit and all that, no good until I just let gravity do the work.
  4. I'm pretty mechanically minded, honest, but I just can't figure how to get the wheel bearings out of my 98 techno rear. Did the front but at the rear there seems to be two alloy spacers either side that must go into the bearings. They won't budge (I haven't gone too mad, yet) Anyone explain, please?
  5. I measured the ones I knocked out of the swingarm, tapped the i/d, o/d and width into Simplybearings' site and hey presto. Most needle roller bearings start with HK then the internal diameter then the width. For example the swingarm on my techno is HK2218 RS
  6. There's some on the Evilbay for about
  7. Whatever you buy take your time to give it a proper going over. There's some real snotters out there and people who will quite happily sell you one. I bought in haste, now repenting at leisure. Bike looked fine, plenty of bling and newish tyres. 1 ride and I now find the mains have gone, rear wheel bearings, clutch master cylinder, fan not working, worst case of bodged wiring I've ever seen (twisted together and gaffer taped). Rear frame mount, one of the threads needed helicoiling, piston ring gap at the limit, wrong plug and so on. Stipped the motor apart and thought it was strange I needed an impact wrench to wind the 12x1.25 retainer bolt out the primary drive. Yes, it had been crossed for about 10mm and then taken out, cleaned up and rammed in. Fortunately the crank thread had survived very nicely, a tap sorted that and the bolt, I'll turn a new one up. Probably cost me
  8. Ended up wearing them today (had to as I only got shipped one boot, there must be a one-legged trials rider somewhere..) after taking the steel toe caps off. Didn't feel too bad but it was my first outing.

    Beta Techno

Anyone got a manual for a beta Techno 270 Dougie Lampkin rep'? Reckon it's a '97-98, judging by the 'R' reg' plate. Doesn't seem to have a sight glass for the gearbox oil and there's few bits I'm not sure about, like the grease nipple by the drive sprocket. Also, what plug's correct? It's got a BP5ES in but the trials shop sent me a BP7ES when I ordered one for it. Ta.
  10. Thought as much, there is a steel front sole protector too so they can go on Ebay and I'll get a pair of trial boots. Cheers for the reply.
  11. I'm just starting out, have some some old Novogar trail boots (sort of MX boots with a trials type flat sole). They're pretty stiff, will they be any good or will I need specific trials boots to get going? Ta.
  12. Fitted in nicely with the bars off and one back seat unbolted.
  13. Reckon I'd manage to get a trials bike in the back of a series 1 L/R discovery? It's only to pick up another bike so not a permanant solution. Front wheel off I reckon it might? Ta.
  14. Good afternoon (or evening/morning, delete as appropriate when you read this) from a new old owner of an old ('98 Beta) trials bike. Looking forward to getting started, just sorting out the kit, club membership and a Domino slow throttle so stop the bike spitting me off the back (again). Can just about manage a wobbly track stand on the bike so a long way to go. Anyway, Hello!
