  1. Hi again , just thought id put one out to see if anybody knows of any good trial riding spots in the Central Belt of Scotland ? I know a few but would like to spread my horizons a bit and explore new parts - Thanks Barry
  2. Hi - I live in Scotland - there arent any independent Scottish trail magazines . The main UK weekly , as the other guy mentioned , is the 'Trails and motocross news ' . But thats about it . Sorry not to bring better news than that
  3. Thanks for the tips - this being my first trial bike I bought it second had and while it is mint I saw traces of duck tape around the back of the airbox so I know something was going on and your emails helped anwser that . The air filter is on the side and the rubber seal , in my opinion , has seen better days , so for a few quid I'll splash out on a new one and insert with some grease . Thanks a million again guys - youve no idea how usefull this site is to a new start .
  4. Made the jump from MX to trials - really enjoying it . Need advice where to ride in Central Scotland ( Inc lower highland & upper borders region ) Have found a few good spots near Muirkirk ( nr Strathaven ) and looking for more - really apprecaite any input here Thanks Barry ( Hamilton )
  5. Having made the jump from MX I am thoroughly enjoying my 280txt '03 edition . Heres my question - as Scotland , where I live , is p***ing with rain most of the year , its hard to avoid steams , rivers etc . What are the best measures I can take to protect my bike from water ingress etc . As the airbox sits in front of the back wheel I feel a bit uneasy about this and I am sure that some of you must have a view on this . All other ' water riding ' tips appreciated !! Thanks again team - Barry
  6. Well done you !! - I knew there would be a simple solution ! The tread plate is a great and very simple idea to hide the dents - this is the kind of gem I was hoping somone would come up with ( why didnt I think of that ??!! ) Thanks a million ! - Barry
  7. Just a quick one - I have an immaculate 280 TXT 03 edition - immaculate apart from two unsightly dents on the rear exhaust silencer . Bike still runs fine but just looks really unsightly . A new silencer is
  8. thank you thank you - once again , being new to the trails scene , the site (and more so your advice ) has been invaluable . I have been in MX for years so know quite a bit , but I dont want to presume that I know it all on a trials bike !! Many thanks - Barry ( Glasgow )
  9. Hi guys , new start needs a few pointers - re my Gas Gas 280 TXT 03 edition , how often should I be changing the gear oil ? After a days riding what are the main points that I should be paying attention to ? So far , after a blast with the pressure washer , Ive been lubricating the chain , spot of lube in the brake and clutch lever pivots , peg and gear lever pivots . Ive sprayed around the carb / plug with wd40 to aviod moisture ingress , am I correct in saying that the fuel mix is 50:1 ? - any more hints or tips that you can give me re maintemenace would be most apprecaited? Thanks in advance - Barry

  14. Hi Folks - have been in MX and Enduro for many years and have decided to give trails a go as Ive always fancied it - Ive bought a 280 TXT 03 Edition and am having problem selecting neutral while at a standstill - can select it when coasting to a halt but not while stationary , is this normal ?? Also the suspension seems VERY soft . I am 16.5 stone and feel is too soft - maybe this is the way it should be but these are the points that I need your help with - Im just not sure . Really apprecaite your feedback on this guys
