  1. Hi guys.

I am after a pair of British Hubs to get a new project mobile. The sort I am after are the same as fitted to various Greeves models. With the brake on the RH side on the rear. They are pressed steel

Can anyone point me in the right direction

  2. Hi Guys

I currently have my Panther geared right down to about 30 to 1 for trialling. I am planning to do the Arbuthnot trial in sept on it and there is a far bit of road work. So today I fitted my speedo and went out for a blast. I am getting about 25 MPH on the current gearing. I have a 66 tooth rear sprocket fitted at the moment. But have a 60 tooth one in the garage. Would fitting the 60 tooth make that much difference or do I need a even smaller one?. I wouldn't mind about a 40 MPH top speed. I do understand that I will be raising the gearing up all through the range but I am not to worried about the sections in the trial.

  3. Hi peps.

I am on the look out for some hard wearing waterproof trousers. The only ones i can find online have armour and padding which I don't want. I just want a pair of heavy duty trousers. I have a trial coming up with a fair bit of green laning and road miles between sections so a good pair of trousers are a must.

  4. Hi guys.

Over at my russian bike forum an American user has posted some pics of his latest toy.

Its a Rokon 2WD bike. It is fitted with an Albion 3 speed gearbox. Now apparently these boxes are as rare as rocking horse poo over in the States. Can anyone supply me with a list of which bikes had these boxes fitted and any sources for spares.

    Cheers

  5. Nice video. But why oh why do the commentators not STFU for most of the time.I hate the constant bollocks they feel like I need to know.I went to Bovington last year to see the tanks being driven about.I wanted the hear what they sounded like but the moron who was on the PA would not shut up.

  6. No there is no reason for bsf over bsw.apart from i was worried about how much actual thread i would have in the hole.thats why i used bolts as long as i could.as to why keep to imperial. Less spanners to carry.and if you shop around you can pick up imperial stuff cheap enough.i have one metric bolt on my bike and that holds the tank on.

  7. I think you will find that you will be able to drill and tap the lugs for 1/4 BSW.I did this on my hub and I drilled and tapped the lugs all the way through.I then ordered some long cap head bolts so i could chop them down to the right length. If you use cap head bolts and spring washers they will clear the brake plate(just). I ensured that the bolts I fitted went all the way through the lugs to give it as much strength as possible. After 3 years of very muddy use with a 72 tooth rear sprocket then haven't come loose yet.

  8. I rode all last season with a knackered paint job due to the new crappy petrol eating anything it touches. So I was hoping to have a half decent tank before I ride at the 1000 bikes do at Mallory as a fair few people watch. But after Mallory and my VMCC sections Founders day vintage bike event I have a couple of months before the bike is needed again. So I may just prime it and then sort it properly then and it may have stopped raining by then anyway.

  9. What a mare i am having with my tank off my Panther.I got a decent tank last year at the Stafford show(its one of those centre mounted trail bike type jobbies off a 250 bsa). So I had to manufacture some ali mounts to sit it on the bike,A bit of bashing of the lower surface allowed it to mount lower down.So I decided once I was happy to get it blasted and then paint it.So i dropped it off at the blasters and then my dad picked it up the following week.

When I saw it i was horrified.they had dented it 3 times on the top and RH side.So after much moaning they at least gave me my money back.So I decided to leave it for last season and then get the dents knocked out in the close season.

So after we had finished our last trial i dropped it round to my dad and he had a go at knocking them out.unfortunately he had to cut a hole in the base to get to one dent.So I dropped it down at the local bike welders and he fitted a plate and I picked it up on Monday.I am aiming to be at the Mallory do so am pushed for time with painting.

So I blew the last bit of primer I had over it on Monday night and then planned to pick up some more rattle cans to start the job tues. I just rubbed it down on Tues due to the rain. But picked some paint up today. So I then blew some primer filler over it tonight and the bloody paint has reacted with the original paint and its blistered and cracked.

    arrgghhhh

  10. I went to see it and thoroughly enjoyed it.Saw it in 3D.The 3d was not too much in your face and in fact wasn't noticeable a lot of the time. But the film suffers from the fact its a prequel so we now what is going to happen.Plus there are parts of the story which are just added to link the films together. But over all I enjoyed it.just don't go expecting too much.

Oh and you do have to think in one scene. Why are you running that way when if you went left or right you may be ok. :hyper:

  11. Well i had a chat with the guy who owns the bike and he is thinking of going for a Villiers engine.I just have a question.I assume they fit straight in and he would just need to sort an exhaust pipe.Oh and will any Villiers engines fit.As I know nothing about 2 smokes.

In fact he didn't like my suggestion of throwing the whole thing in the canal. :hyper:

  12. Hi guys.

A mate at work has just purchased a James 197 off fleabay. The engine was stripped and has been rebuilt but may need a re bore. When they attempted to rebuild the top end it would appear That the oil ring is missing. So can anyone help source a ring set for this bike.

The only issue is that its an AMC engine.I have been told these are not worth bothering with due to many issues. So would he be better sourcing a Villers engine to fit instead?

  13. Well i can't get any bleeding petrol round here so I'm stuffed.Words can't describe my feelings towards all the people who have panicked when there is no shortage of fuel.OR there wouldn't have been if the W******s hadn't gone mad.I have a 1/4 of a tank full in my car which will do me about a week of going to work.

Oh well looks like I will be using the bike next week in the rain and snow that coming. Its a good job i filled the BMW up on Thursday morn as I had a nearly empty tank.At least that will not need any fuel for a good 2 weeks of general use.
