Pretty much done everything everones suggested and guess what .....It lives!!!!!!!!!!! starts first kick and burbles like only a TY can.. but....... bluring out on higher revs? Fine pottering around in first or second but not pulling cleanly or reving cleanly when the throttles opened fully?
Also what the recommended fuel mix as I tend to add an extra squirt of oil just in case???
Have checked the timing its spot on, cleaned points and tested condensor, maybe should renew them and check good connections etc.
When it runs it revs clean for a time then dies, does seem like fuel starvation??. when i strip the carb there is always fule in the bowl! I will check the jet sizes
Cleaned the carb with compressed air with all jets etc removed, has new fuel tap and I also changed the petrol in the tank.
Will give it another shot based on your advice and let you know if I,m still pulling my hair out!!
Have you bought this yet? yes they can be money pits but they are great bikes once sorted! cheap as chips at this price methinks! if you havent bought it, can i have the guys number??
Not cheap, but could the price be a reasonable reflection of what a new RTL cost in 1980s money, plus a wee bit for the once in a lifetime opportunity it represents? (Not that I imagine it will ever be used in anger even if it sells).
Aye when the six numbers come up "it shall be mine" LOL! I agree think I would have it in my living room as an objet d'art ! and look at it instead of the telly!
Interested to know how you built a booth as powder coating is quite expensive.
What other equipment is required?
I first built a blasting cabinet, again big enough for larger parts. Also bought a bigger compressor and a blasting pot off of flea bay! Was just going to do the small bits using a household oven then decided to build my own. Commercial curing ovens are a tad expensive so I built one to my own spec.
The powder coating gun was relatively cheap and you dont need anything complex to make a booth for the powder coat as its sprayed at low pressure.
The basics required are an oven, powder coating gun/system, powder coating powder, Hanging enclosure to spray the parts and a compressor. You don't need a large compressor for powder coating, but you do need a method of stripping your parts either by sandblasting or chemical stripping.
Hope this helps
Alternatively if you want any bits doing let me know.
Been some time but finally sorted. Built my own powder coating set up including an oven big enough for bike frame and have done the frame in silver. Also coated just about every component possible!
Hope you like my photos. Still a ways to go to complete the bike but all the hard work done!
Take the top off the brake reservoir and remove the rubber insert. Start to Pull the lever in and out. You should see tiny air bubbles escaping from the hole at the bottom. Dont worry if you cant see bubbles, just keep pumping the brake lever until the fluid starts to leap out of the reservoir like a jumping salmon!. If you get this far your brake should work.
Also make sure that the adjustment on the lever itself is actually moving the piston in and out fully (use the adjuster screw on the lever and screw it out as far as possible (i.e not in otherwise the piston wont pump the fluid)
It is time consuming but keep at it and it should work!! Other schools of thought are using a syringe to fill the hydraulic pipe, but haven't tried this myself??
The above assumes that you have no leaks at the caliper (check the O ring)
Just acquired what I believe is a 1997 ish Scorpa Easy. Its got the Rotax engine and needs a crank regrind as when it was running it was knocking like a woodpecker on acid!
It is or was black and yellow!
Question is - whats it gonna cost me to repair? just a ball park figure? (UK prices)
Also, anyone got any data on identifying its year and precise model/ cc etc?
Thanks
Oh and one more thing anyone got a manual of any sort for this bike?
Finally got the old beast to fire on all one cylinders! Replaced points, condensor, woodruff key, spark plug, coil and she finally burst into action. Rode round the garden and promptly fell off!, breaking the clutch lever bracket! never mind stripped down ready for the powder coaters!
Cant decide on frame colour SILVER or WHITE???????
Sorry re my 4th question - i did a static check using the single black wire coming from the crankcase and this reading was 1.5ohms as suggested in the book!

Just purchased a bike for rebuild and wondering if anyone can advise the following:
1. What psi should i get when the bike is kicked over? Im getting a max of around 75 psi on the gauge?
2. Kick start sometimes engages sometimes not any suggestions?
3. Also got no spark from the coil, ammeter giving 12000 secondary and about 1 -2 ohms primary? (Book says 6000 and 5-6 repectively?)
4. Have checked the wire to the coil and ammeter showing 1.5 ohms as per book, but when kicked over doesnt seem to emitting any charge? any ideas what this should be?

Thanks again for the tips and suggestions.
Cleaned the carb as suggested and actually found some gunk in the main jet holder! swear down it wasnt there the other 47 times I cleaned the carb!!
Yes renewed the O rings, think I might invest in a new pilot jet though!
Yes got an inline filter as well.
The reason I mention the premix is that I thought I may be putting in too much oil as it was a bit smokey on full throttle!
Will have a look at the wiring and mess about with the plug gap etc and see what occurs.
Thanks again Peeps!
