    240 Plugs?

As the champion L 82 is hard to find anymore, what spark plugs do you gents run with a late model coil fitted to my 83 240 ? I just need input on a ngk or nd baseline to start with as I have lengthened my intake boot and run a K&N air filter, which so for has improved my off idle snap quite a bit... thanks, Glenn
  2. I'm glad I looked at this post , as I am about to take my spare frame apart to see how it goes together before I start on my keeper bike! I may have a spare swingarm shaft if both of mine are in good shape... Glenn 83 240 pro
  3. Out of my 83 240 pro's owners manual. ' primary drivewith helical gears Z-21/71 ratio 1:3.38 secondary drive with chain 5/8"x 1/4" Z-12/39 ratio 1: 3.35. Mine has a 11 tooth countershaft and 39 rear, and it fairly close ratio thru 6th , which of course is1:0.70 overdrive. I'm changing the final drive on mine down to about 1:4.00 or 1: 4.20. I'm old and slow though!!!... Glenn
  4. Thanks; I'm reassembling my 83 fantic and want to get it as close to right as possable!!! thanks again; Glenn
  5. Am I correct in remembering the conversion for N/m to lb/ft... Don't you multiply the nm spec by .738 to get lb/ft, as in torque wrench settings? 50nm x .738 =36.9lb/ft. thanks Glenn
  6. Can anyone tell me what weight Marzocchi 3.8 engler fork oil is/or was when new? Also does anyone know how much oil the OE shocks on my 83 240 pro are supposed hold? They don't seem to be leaking , but have a definite lack of dampening! Thanks for any info... Glenn

  10. Well hello all!! I just bought a 83 240w/ a spare parts bike. I was told the bike had ign. problems and it finaly died! I replaced the coil/trigger plate behind the flywheel and rewired the whole thing.(lots of solder and heatshrink!)... Anyway I was actualy riding her for real for the first time,I hadn't been on a trials bike in close to 28 years, and was impressed with it. As I turned back to my shop and reached for the kill switch I added, it died... no spark! So I pulled the seat&tank off to inspect and found the coil leaking oil So to make a long story short... Does anyone know where I can get ignition parts for this old girl????? or how to update what is here? I hate to write it off cause the bike is actually pretty cherry and I want to get back into competion again!(I had a factory ride in the late 70's !) I miss it! thanks for any response... ps. single dad w/ 3 kids so I really can't afford a new cota; but I am a master mech. w/ fab abilities at my disposal, so I can make anything work with info and parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks , Glenn
