  1. Many years ago (late 70's ) I rode from windy point in palm springs ca. to the top of the arial tramway in Idlewild ,on a 175 stroker TL125 , under the operating tramcars only to get acosted at the top by the law !! but I did fill up with petrol at my freinds house and ride back to palm springs the same way... Fun ride though I shouldn't have done it by myself!!! Glenn
  2. I'd actually love a new 240 or 300 Pro , I think they would sell all they could make if they bought out a retro bike w/some modern finese... A rebirth of the twinshocks would be great and inexpensive to do and would get alot more folks on trials bikes, wouldn't be as costly as the currant crop of bikes ... Glenn
  3. Thats a fact ! the actual Fantic made Fantic engines are built so tight , I can't think of anything else that even comes close to their tolorances, The O.E spec for bore to piston clearanc is one-half of one-thousandth !!!! that's almost a press fit for a sleeve !!! The 240 is the only spec I've got , but I'm sure the 300's were just as tite... Hence the chromium plated liner Glenn
  4. I found by chance , that plastic coat spray enamal #347 fire red matches perfectly to the unfaded places left on my 83 240 , and it is cheap !!! With a little scotch brite and comet prep work you can't even see the blend ! But now that mine runs again , engine comes out and she get's new swingarm bearings and brake shoes and the upper shock mounts welded where they are starting to crack from my extra girth.... and modern footpegs a little further back and maybe a 26mm mikuni still thinking about that.... But I still want a new source coil for my ign. cause she runs but her spark is nothing to call mom and tell her about. Should I drain hole the case ? Cause every time I take it apart there is some serious corrosion going on in there !!! This time it is tight enough that it holds air presure blown in the vent pipe and all internals got a spray with WD40 before the cover went on .. Boy I wish the ign. on these was in a oil bath like some other bikes... Rusty flywheels are a pain in the a** ...But it was good to ride her again for a bit.............. Glenn
  5. I'd bet Lance is more than smart enough to understand the differance in european and american cultures... And I'm also sure that if he put his mind to it or just wanted to play at it he could probably hold his own on a trials bike. I thought this thread was about the possable mainstream exposure of our beloved pastime , and you never know he might be a natural............ It does happen !!! Glenn
  6. And I read you can get your choice of engines !!!!!!!!!!1 Fuel injected 427 chevy for the techies or a dual 4bbl 426 HEMI for the pros and a catapillar D9 deisel for the torque hungry....... GGGGRRRRRUUUUUUMMMMMMPPPPPHHHH!!!!!!!!! We all need one , no need to dab , it stands up on it's own !!! Glenn
  7. That bike is a joke compared to their line of little 2stroke enduro's the cabalaro series... Makes me wonder what they are really up to ? Glenn
  8. But at least he has a trials bike to play on !!! Glenn
  9. I just fiqured it out!!!!!! THERE IS NO GOOD MEXICAN FOOD HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Glenn
  10. And Just think of the impact on our sport if sports illustrated does a story about lance on a trials bike ... Talk about good exposure... If lance actually gets into trials events it would most likely do more for our sport than anything else ever has ! talk about getting the mainstream to take notice!!!! And I read Richy Carmichael just got a gas gas to cross train on , just like the top European motocrossers have done for years!!!!!!!!!! I've neverunderstood why even in alot of bike shops , no one has a clue as to what trials riding is... But maybe that is why (deep down inside)Geoff Arron , Tony Avala? and the like put on their stunt shows at all the freestyle MX shows now.(besides the $)Is just to show trials to more people..........Cause we all know that going fast is easy, Slow control is much harder...(IMHO)..........!!!!!!!!!!! Glenn AND PARENTS might think if Lance does it , It can't be BAD!!!!

    Njb Shocks

Yes as a older Trials rider who started this long before the game changed to stop and hop ,I want to keep my old girl working !!!! I am amazed at what the top riders are capable of now , but I'm to old to stop twisting a wrench for a living and try to become a stuntman. And yes I've a few modern mods to the fantic but it will still kick a## on the bikes I learned on , and thats enough for me... Thanks for the opinions, and was Bernie Schriber the point when technique changed? Glenn
  12. You Guys are making me want to sell my house and leave hurricane central and move back to Lake Arrowhead !!!!! I miss the mountains and rocks !!! (and my first wife!) Glenn But I did grow up in new england and learned trials in the 70's there... Maybe I just don't like SC.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. AT least you folks get trials on TV!!!!!!!!!!!! It's pretty rare over here... Glenn

    Njb Shocks

Thanks for the reply's... As little as I get to compete ,(hectic schedule, single dad ,3young kids, who get jealous of my bikes sometimes...)I think NJB's and some new front Springs from steve may be the way to go. And steve has supplied almost all of the parts for my fantic !!! Now if I could only come up with a new set of source coil windings and a trigger for her life would almost be complete Oh well back to work. Glenn And What Is a BUDGET!!! Don't you need money to have one of those?!!!?
