  1. Now that ive been riding a bit im glad i have all those gears...
  2. Yes. Ive ridden other peoples bikes and theirs feel great.
  3. Im assuming i have to adjust my rear shock. Is it too stiff? Too soft? Not enough dampening or too much? Its an 08 Sherco and from the looks of it, the shock is pretty difficult to get to. Grrr... Much easier to do on my mountain bike.
  4. I dunno where the timing is set aside from the retarder switch.
  5. 08 290. It was a couple club guys that said thats what it might be. Never thought to ask how to adjust it at the time. Im injured plus the weathers been kinda ***** so i haven't been to CPTA in a while and figured id ask on here (mostly out of boredom and the need to feel im part of the online community)
  6. Where my pipe comes out of the head it is turning a bluish purple. Someone told me i might be running lean. What do i adjust here?
  7. Any way to get my tires soft again? They harden up over time and I'm wondering if I can soak them in solvent or alcohol to get that new feeling back.
  8. Well I ended up getting an 08 Sherco 290 which is in really good shape. I've taken it out a couple times and its a blast! Trying to get a couple of my fellow bicycle trials buddies to get bikes too. I can't believe how well the tires grip!
  9. First ride on Sherco tomorrow. Ugh, cant sleep!

  10. And it is done! Sherco 290 for the win. Hopefully its not too much for me...
  11. All rocks all the time! There are dealers around for all the popular brands as I live in the city so no worries there.
  12. I have always suspected the expiring helmet hype to merely a marketing scam pushed on us by helmet manufacturers. In some cases such as road bike helmets where you risk being struck by a car i would not argue that once its taken a large blow it should probably be replaced. In trials use I doubt you would ever need to replace it though unless it actually breaks.
  13. Well I checked out the 08 Sherco today and it is pretty much new. It doesn't even have a scuff! It also comes with a brand new, in the box matching helmet and extra maintainence stuff. Seems like a good deal to me. I never tried riding the gasgas when i went and looked at it... Hmmm.
  14. Ideally I would like to get a smaller cc bike. It's just that nobody seems to be selling anything around here. I think the 250 would be good but if i can get a 290 that is in better shape for a $800 less....
  15. I've also found an 08 Sherco 290 that's $1000 less... What's the difference between 08 and 09?
  16. I would preffer a 250 but the Sherco is actually a bit cheaper and has less hours on it. The guy with the gasgas is local though and the tires are literally brand new. I don't really know a lot about susp and brakes and stuff though. Shercos use the same motor as the older gasgas bikes no? Which bike has better components? Weight?
  17. I'm preparing to purchace my first bike but I'm not educated in the way of the mototrial... There are so many options out there and id like my choice to be sound when i finally make my purchase. I've read through the forum and caught some of the good and bad of different brands but I'm still unsure what kind of things to take into consideration. At this point I have my eye on an 09 Gasgas 250 pro and a Sherco 290 same year. Both owners are asking $4900 dollars. Which bike is stocked with better components or is just better in general? They are both in great shape. Do they have different geometry or do all bikes ride similar? The Sherco has a bigger motor but I'm thinking maybe the gasgas has better components plus it has brand new tires and pads. I don't know :-(
  18. I find it retarded that there is a minimum weight rule at all?? Imagine the sick stuff that could be done on a bicycle with a chainsaw motor? :-D
  19. That hurts my brain... I assumed the more gears you have, the more cogs there would be in the gear box (if those are the right terms even). Bear with me. I'm new to this.
  20. I suppose if your travelling far distances on the bike then the gears would be great to have. The land that my club leases isn't all that vast and is quite steep and rocky. I was thinking more along the lines of comp specific bikes for riding short, technical sections.
