My chain came off on the weekend. When I was putting it back on I noticed the pad that goes around the end of the swing arm by the engine, on the bottom had broken.
The part of the pad next to the drive cog with no tension was lifting the chain up slightly which would then cause the chain to come off as it followed the line from the pad(you still with me? ) ....any way...after much searching to find the actual name of the part I needed I ordered it off eBay, super quick delivery, but, before I go just taking it off....is it easy as it looks? Is there something I need to do to make it easier.... Not had a trial bike long and after trying to find a YouTube demo I found there's more to taking a back wheel off than I had originally thought!
Any tips that will save me bother and expensive mistakes would be soundly welcome before I get stuck in to it ...
I have been looking at getting some trousers for riding in. I don't really fancy forking out loads of money on the dedicated trials trousers, plus I'm not into all the colours, so wondered if any of you guys might have some tips for trousers? ...army surplus?
At a classic trial a few years ago that I went to watch there was a guy wearing overalls!
I searched the forum for a post on changing fork seals on my beta but only found this http://www.shercousa...placement-1.pdf . Is the beta very different from the sherco? will i need a "fork seal driver" as is used in the link?
Is there a more relevant link?
Looking at the link i feel reasonably confident of being able to do the job but is it best left to a garage?
If it will cost me less than £40 i think i would let somebody else have the hassle
Also, while the forks are off i thought about putting stronger springs in as im a 125kg rider. is this worth doing? how much would the springs cost?
I want to get her ready for my first outing on her next saturday at the project 200 course
did you manage to buy the rev4 mudguard in the end? did you actually save some money?
To be honest I havnt looked. Too busy with work at the moment. It is something that I will definately be getting but not in a massive rush as I need more practise first
A little tip, get a rear mudguard for a Beta 4 stroke (Rev 4T 2008 i think). Its the same size but is black instead of white. If you can overlook that you will save about
That was awesome, but the rest of it was rubbish (IMHO); when they all five the section 2 feet in from the begins cards I don't call that entertainment
I was watching last weeks and thinking the exact same thing. first trial i have watched in a long while (years) i felt quite disappointed by the whole thing really.
Though on the other hand it was the first time i have seen "Bou" riding...amazing! head and shoulders above the rest
Gettting ready to watch this weeks when SWMBO has finished with her tv programmes.
I think i would much prefer to watch outdoor trials
Its frustrating living in a not spot, i get 0.2mb streaming. have to let it load for ages then click back to beginning..very frustrating
Im away skiing and dont get back untill 14th but i do have one of those satelite boxes,so i will have to sky+ it...something to look forward to coming home for!
Go easy on me guys if my ignorance of the answer is obvious in the question...if you know what i mean
What are my costs going to be once i have my bike?
Join a club...get acu licence and just the cost of trial on the day? is that pretty much it? Is it a necessity to join a club or join acu ?
I only done 1 trial too many years ago and if i remember correctly i just turned up and paid to ride???
Im not being a cheapskate as i fully intend to join my closest club(if they'll have me ) I'm just a little confused with all the acronyms and the like.
I would be tempted to go along to your next local trial and try asking one of the committee members ( if he or she , has time )if they know of anybody that is selling anything. The bikes history can nearly always be verified and you will always get a ' if you buy a bike off john or jimmy etc.it will be good because he looks after his machinary' or even the opposite ' don't buy a bike off john or jimmy etc.'Worth a try at least!!
Phil
That was going to be one of my next steps, better chance of getting something better value for money.
I think i am going to leave getting it a while, sell a couple of my toys and save a bit more money and buy something a little newer.
special thanks, Pindie, some very valuable advice and thanks for the contact details
