Woody
I've emailed to find out where they are / will they ship to the UK, but no answer yet.
I know a couple of people in Spain if all else fails and will get one of them to get in touch.
Did you see the mudguards? Look very good...

you want dished sprockets...

Stick with the dished sprocket - I wish I had, and will be conveting back when I get an hour or two. I believe the ossacels website still lists a dished sprocket, though I can't find it at the mo.

Steve Sell also has the decals to suit a mk2 tank. I have a set from Jeff Bungay but the badge is awful - nothing like the original 'cloverleaf' logo (I know it's a film reel, but who'd understand?) - steve's are better, though I've not seen any of the others on offer.
BTW if anyone has an alloy tank they want to sell, let me know...

Does anyone know what the original finish on the fornt pipe should be?
I also need a heatshield for the front pipe - any ideas where I can find one?
Thanks

Haven't decided on rims yet - will be going over to CWC in Coleshill after the holiday to look at the options

I pick the frame up from the painters today (couldn't afford a Whitlock one ), and get a new alloy swinging arm next week. The engine has been rebuilt - light hone and new piston, cam chain kit and seals topped off with a repaint, though they've painted it completely black so have to rub back the ends of the fins - any ideas for a heat resistant clear lacquer to protect them?
What was the original finish on the exhaust front pipe? I'm told it was black paint but mine looks like it's been chromed, albeit it does look very dark.
Thanks

So far, apart from stripping it, the fork seals have been replaced, frame gone away for painting (finances wouldn't run to a Whitlock frame), gearbox shaft found along with a few other bits, engine being stripped (thanks Paul), but still seriously considering an alloy swinging arm as there's lots of rust rattling around inside mine...
I'm told the original Honda cables are superior to Venhill - anyone any experience of either?
I also haven't yet decided on who to use to sort the original problem - rebuilding the wheels - any recommendations?

I had a purple FS1E bought new from Gordon Farley - XPG 603N, and still have the front number plate for it somewhere.
Len Hutty used to scrounge it to go and see his girlfreind after school and, 'cos he's always weighed a lot less than me, could get another 10mph out of it...
Happy days

Well, it's all apart now and my shoddy maintenance is there for all to see...
Biggest problem looks to be the drive sprocket is very loose on the shaft; I remember this being discussed before, but are the shafts still available?

Any contact details for PR Engineering?

I still need someone to rebuild the engine for me - any suggestions?
Mick
-
OK, I'm now committed to the rebuild and plan the following:
Whitlock RS frame, nickel plated +alloy s/a
Wheels rebuilt using Excel rims, hubs stripped and repainted
New Renthal bars
Venhill cables
Classictrial one piece seat tank unit
The Talon sprockets are nearly new and will go back on, as will the mudguards.
Given it's 23 years old the engine ought to be stripped and rebuilt, and as I'm technically incompetent, who do you reccommend I get to do the job?
I'll preserve all the displaced parts for those that come after me and ask "why did you do it?"

A TL125 transformed my riding & confidence.
I bought one new in 1975 from Gordon Farley (KPA 10P, where are you now) and had four class wins in four consecutive weeks, having been a very average rider up to that point.
The only problems I had were the triangular rear silencer dug into my ankle if I caught my foot on anything, and the lack of power. So, off to see Derek Cranfield at Len Savage mototcycles in North Camp, Farnborough to part-ex it for a new Ossa MAR, now feel the power...

Thanks, with my old bit and this info I can get a new one machined.

Yes, it's just the length, got the remants that was cut down.

Thanks for looking, I'll have to track down a guy I know in Hampshire that's into Ossa's...

Thanks Woody, I knew I could rely on you!
Mick

I thought at least Woody would've known...
Mick

Thanks for the ideas guys, lowering the compression a tad to make it stall less sounds most attractive.

Does anyone have an original rear axle spacer for a '75 MAR they could measure for me, or know where I can get one? My bike has a Miller flat sprocket conversion but I want to return it to the original dished sprocket so will need to find, or get made, the spacer to fit.

Having been unable to find a slimline sherpa to restore I've decided to freshen up the Honda, not much choise really as the spokes and rims are decidely iffy, and whilst the wheels are out why stop there...
Anyway, your views on the best approach would be welcome; for instance I'm thinking of a one piece seat/tank unit and preserving the original, and maybe nickel plating the frame.
Is this a no-no, are there any sensible mods I should consider whilst it's in bits?

My wheels are shot too - any recommendations as to what rims to use, and who to do the job?

Thanks all
The clutch has had little use since being replaced by Tim at Gordon Farley's a couple of years ago (I don't ride much...).
Will try a change of oil when I get a chance. What Shell oil did you use Honda Pants?
Mick
-
Apologies if this has already been covered, but what enginge oil should I be using? Not sure what's in there at the mo but I have terrible clutch slip unless the engine is really hot.
