Gloucester next weekend - where & when?

Simple question - will a 45 year old beginner find trials to compete in on a mono shock?

Never rode a trials bike until today when BVM in Stroud kindly let me ride a 6 month old bike in their car park. Fantastic - loved it to bits and think I will buy it tomorrow. Stupid or what?! Only other option seems to me to be a new 05 Sherco. There are some discounted bikes around at just a few hundred pounds more than the used 05 Gas Gas. Since I have never ridden before I think it is irrelavent which I buy and I may as well save the money - that is my view. Any body think differently?

Maybe this is a good time to buy then? Just keen to get started, without making a huge blunder!
