  1. Thanks for the vid link - i can watch that at home ( as clearly hard at work at the moment !!) - I'll have another look at the pads and try pushing the pistons back, its definitely only moving on one side so cant be completely right. thanks again
  2. the fluid cylinder is full, i did try bleeding it but not sure I was doing it right, loosened the nut per the picture in the manual, fiddled with the brake, bit of fluid came out then I tightened it up again. I can't see any leaks or cracks in the pipe, even after I cleaned the mud off ! the rubber bit on the bottom of the brake cylinder is quite loose and moves around - can't see inside the cylinder though. How would I know if the seals have gone or do I just get new ones ( is it the whole cylinder or can I just get the seals ??) many thanks
  3. Any pointers please for fixing my back brake - its gradually got weaker and weaker and now doesnt work at all. The caliper moves a bit on one side but not the other. I've taken the wheel off, cleaned it all, pads are almost new, brake pedal all seems OK but I dont really know what I'm looking for. need to get it sorted before last weekend of the month as there's finally a practice I can go to locally !!! many thanks
  4. just a thought - I had similar issues to start with and it was just because i was pottering all the time to learn, i asked a friend to take the bike for a bit of a blast and it was fine after 20 minutes, a lot of blue clouds out the exhaust to start with though
  5. Well - i now know how to do it ! I did have to cheat in the end and get some supervised help as reading all your info made sense but made me realise i would probably just mess it up and make things worse. Too ashamed to admit I had no idea what a banjo was ( other than an annoying guitar type thing) but now I do. Rag and glasses definitely recommended, just a little squeeze on the lever got an inch high jet ! its nasty stuff.. thank you all for the help, at least I can get out again and practice now, just keeping an eye out for the next local easy trial for my first one
  6. I need to replace the front brake cylinder ( piece up by the bars and brake fluid container) - I've got the pieces from gas gas ( its for a txt pro 250) - i've been told i'll have to bleed the front brakes after its all done - any guidance on how to do that please, I dont have a clue ! many thanks
  7. go for it - i started at 49 never having been on any sort of bike ever... its brilliant and you'll love it
  8. Practiced all week over Xmas but unfortunately the trial was cancelled in the end as it was so wet - real shame for the organisers ...... i'll be keeping a watch out for another local easy one and will go for the next one I can. thanks for all the encouragement !
  9. Thanks very much for all the encouragement - really appreciated. I have to get the exhaust fixed, due to a hole ! but should be able to get that done in time so I will give it a go and post back on how it went ! TLTEL - yes it is, I think it's your club actually running it Shercoben - having watched your videos if i had 1% of your ability i'd be happy !! thanks for the idea of teaming up with another beginner, hopefully i wont be the only entertainment on the day.
  10. Hi there, I've been practicing since May when I got my first ever bike, I've done about 5 proper club practice days at different venues, usually can do some bits of some beginner sections but I am gradually getting better. I'd really like to have at least one go at a proper trial this year, there's one coming up as a fundraiser locally badged as being a bit on the easy side and it has a beginner section. Does it matter if I get stuck and need help to get the bike out of a section ? I go a lot slower than everyone else between sections unlikely to finish the full 4 laps ! have to prop myself up on a tree to start the bike again all opinions valued !! thanks
  11. Sawtooth, I got the same switch as your photo - I took the round ends of the connectors so just had the bare wire, then attached it next to the existing button kill switch, ran the new wires next to the button switch ones and underneath the tank took off a bit of the insulation on those and taped the two together so sort of running in parallel. Tested them both before i put everything back and its been fine - I can use either.... just needed lots of insulation tape and cable ties.
  12. Personally as a beginner I've found it brilliant and has now saved my GG from more damage - I wired it in parallel to the existing kill switch so I can use either, I double loop it round my wrist so there's no loopy bits, if I'm that far into the bushes ( being based in Kent as well !) that it gets pulled out by accident I've gone wrong anyway and usually better off stopping before I fall off again.... .
  13. Cleaned air filter, fitted new tank breather pipe ( broke the old one) and still waiting for my front wheel to be respoked so i can put it back on.... my continuing efforts to master throttle control resulted in multiple impacts needing repair ! I have noticed the bike seems to do better without me on and keeps going really well until it hits something - usually a hedge or a tree.....
  14. Are they universal for all bike types ? I need one for my GG before I kill it or someone else, spending an awful lot of time dragging it out of bushes at the moment... Are they easy to fit ? I wont have a clue where to start !
  15. Hi Dabid There's a user on the forums called Zacmul based in Australia - have a look in the videos section there's some good stuff. He might be able to help with some info from the right continent at least !
