  1. No worries mate, I'd have had a hard time explaining to the wife why I need another trials bike... They're a great machine, had so much fun on mine back in the day. Have you joined up with a trials club yet? Plenty round your neck of the woods I think. I'm with RRND mainly which isn't too far from you, surrey and sussex - come and check out one of our trials sometime, we have a nice easy yellow route for wobblers! You should also look up the Old Quarry in Betchworth, you can go and practice there to get the hang of some hills and mud etc. Cheers, Mike
  2. Alright Fatty? Great username by the way :-) I was going to suggest selling me the cub for £50 cos they're rubbish and worthless ;-) But also sounds like it's too much work for me too. Then I read your post about the techno and think you bought the one I had my eye on that was on ebay! It looked mint. I had 2 very similar in my youth.Get in touch with me if you find you don't get on with it, or don't use it or whatever! Having said that I hope you enjoy it and it treats you well. Cheers, Mike
  3. Just wondering what other people think really. After pretty much 10 years off trials I'm back on a 2008 Gas Gas Raga (used to have a 1996 Techno). Great bike, love it, but riding it and watching others ride got me thinking whether they are too light for UK winter trials? As soon as you get your feet off the pegs they spin up and go nowhere due to having about 10KGs of downforce on the rear wheel! It seems that perhaps they've become so honed for indoor / spanish sunshine use that they're not engineered for mud anymore. Of course the solution is to keep feet up, but hmmmmmn, challenging! What do people think? Should I just invest in a Tiger Cub?! Or borrow my old man's TLR200 in the winter months?!
  4. Have you tried riding it round with your foot on the brake to get it hot again then chucking cold water on it? Worked for me, but sure someone will tell you it's bad for some reason. How on earth did you manage to set fire to it in the first place though...?!
  5. They're all good. Buy the one you think looks coolest
  6. Buy a gas gas. Anything else and people will sneer at you. And buy some white boots, less marks dropped cos you'll want to keep them clean
  7. What a shoddy piece of journalism. Really bad work by the BBC. They were at pains to say TRIALS bike, and these are nothing of the sort. Pretty shocking really.
  8. What do you mean barrell was brown? On the outside? Seems a liittle strange but might just be burned on mud or something. Doesn't sound like "the one" so keep looking. As mentioned, they are the easiest bikes to work on (compared to sports road bikes), try to buy one where you can be sure of the history - join a local club and ask around, some people have spare bikes they will sell. Clutch drag is very common, but there are oils that make it less of a problem. Good luck with the search and let us know how you get on!
  9. Here's a little video I made of the RRND club trial last Sunday near Redhill in Surrey. Hope you like it!
  10. Honda sounds fast! Plenty of bikes available around the £1000 mark, hope you find a good one and get out there and enjoy! :-)
  11. Woah! That's epic, looks the M25 on a friday night! Glad you still had a good day!
  12. Welcome to the forum mate, what road bike have you got? And what's your budget? Have you had a look at the Gas Gas and Betas as an alternative to the Sherco? My advice would be not to worry too much about which brand, just go for the best one you can find for your cash! Good luck with your search!
  13. Aaaaaand, now that the arguments over the correct side for a kickstart have finished, have an oogle at my new bike which I got today. Me likey!
  14. Nice bike dude, I had a look at an EVO, but have just gone for a 2008 Raga Gas Gas. The Beta is probably the prettier bike though. I hope you enjoy the bike though, looks like a good one to learn on, nice and easy to ride, no excuses! Welcome to the forum from another noobey.
  15. Ah yes, the lefties take a bit of getting used to. I'm going to have to learn to kick the Gasser over, the Mont was the last RHS one I used. And your wife sounds a bit like mine... totally unreasonable! It was clearly the bikes fault that one!
