  1. Hi, I have recently replaced the idler gear on my 200 Cota, and I am struggling to fathom the correct way to tension the assembly once refitted. Does anybody have any experience of reassembling correctly? New pawl gear has also been fitted, along with the correct shims, and new return and shaft spring. The bit causing me the main trouble is securing the shaft in the correct position and tension prior to refitting the side case, the shaft needs to be in a specific position for the slot in the shaft to mate up in the right position for the kick start securing bolt and not smash the casing. Any help / pictures appreciated. Cheers, Mark
  2. Saw this, in Italy though if any help, not translated the description so not sure of usability, Cheers, Mark http://www.subito.it/accessori-moto/motore-montesa-cota-torino-132718477.htm
  3. Link to an Air Filter, same as the 200 also. http://www.francetrialclassic.com/en/oil-air-filters-spark-plugs/4309-montesa-cota-123-200mh-242-air-filter-moss.html
  4. Hi, the gearbox is the same as the 200 Cota, so the quantity is 900ml (See attached last page of manual) Cheers, Mark
  5. Hi Geoff, I have enclosed the owners manual for the 123 (28m) if it helps, as regards the air filter, it seems that the 200 Cota maybe the same, as the two share many similar parts as I have found when restoring my 81 200. Please see links below for sources of parts mainly in Europe, Jared Bates @ Southwest Montesa in the USA is good also. Hope it helps! 6. Thanks Lineaway, fiddly as owt int it, had a few indicative pictures off a few people, but its hit and miss, understand the tension bit, but holding shaft in situ and getting slot to line up for kickstart bolt is a hard one, will persevere, thanks pal
  7. Any help would be appreciated!
  8. Evening all, Can anyone tell me the correct procedure or slot on the shaft for refitting the pawl gear(s) back so the tension is correct for the Kickstart to return correctly to the stop and not damage the case? Struggling a bit as far as the slot in the shaft for the kickstart bolt is not in the correct position at present after replacing the gears..bit stumped! Thanks! Mark
  9. Thanks Lineaway, I only ask due to purchasing the bike after a rebuild and thinking it wasn't correct the way they had been fitted whilst I was replacing the idle gear. Cheers, Mark
  10. Evening, Does anyone have the knowledge of stripping the clutch basket off, and the sequence of shims when reasembling? The parts drawing shows 2 washers / shims at the rear of the basket, but I am told there is 4? Any help appreciated Mark

  13. Chain tube bracket and tubes available as 4stroke say's, got mine of a chap on my group, and the bracket from inmotion, but they stock tubes also, I have some engine parts contacts in Spain, gears/shafts/selectors etc if you ever need. Cheers, Mark
  14. How is the chain tensioner mounted? I have just acquired the original chain tubes to fit to mine, but prefer the look of the tensioner as you have fitted, nice original looking bike that is! Cheers.

  20. Hi, Red tank MH200 were made around 83-84, the Blanco was made 80-late 82, the engine number is usually stamped on the clutch side casing at the top and shold start MH rather than 29M. Only real difference was a different front wheel on the MH model, early 200 Cota also had the MK1 Amal carb, not the flatside MK2 on the 200C & MH200. I have a parts manual for the 200 Cota if any use to you? Cheers, Mark
  21. Thanks for that Zerorev3rev4, appreciated!
