  1. My Zero was a bear to start when I first got it but using the method you described it's a one kick start now. A little improved motion as described on trialspartsusa tech articles helped also.
  2. If the shaft seal dont do the trick its probably time for some JB or fiberglass resin. Keeping my fingers crossed.
  3. I hear ya Cope. Wish is was 200-250 cc range.
  4. Considering looking at this bike other than typical common condition what would be things to look out for on this model? Thanks http://kansascity.craigslist.org/mcy/4677537194.html
  5. Thanks guys. I printed the IPB. Some parmatex #2 and a seal from my bearing supplier might have it fixed for now.
  6. Pulled the pump cover and the impeller. Cover and pump housing have no doubt been replaced as they are clean, but back in the shaft bore it is corroded. Looks like the pump shaft needs to come out from the clutch basket side after removing the cover and whatever else is in the way. Sound right to you guys? Ahh the joys of a water cooled bike.
  7. Ill go pull the cover this morning. Will the pump shaft slide out or is it pinned or snap ringed to the drive gear? I only know of one other trials bike in my area, Montesa cota early seventys model that has not ran in years. Have not met any other riders as the Wichita and KC/MO clubs are a fair distance from me.
  8. Getting small amounts of engine coolant into the transmission after several rides on my 92 zero. I am aware of the rotton/ corroded coolant passages any guesses were it might be getting in other than that? Maybe water pump shaft seal? I found a gasket set from a place called Athena but no seal set. They are somewhere in Europe, anyone deal with them in the USA?
  9. Hope you feel better. I fell off mine twice yesterday and got a raspberry on the forearm. Stalled engine withe rear wheel still on obstacle and could not reach the ground and off to the side and on my back. Second was a sharp turn and front wheel washed out on a greasy stick.
  10. Appreciate the help. I rode it for 45 or minutes last night it it hardly smokes at any speed now and seems to run pretty well. Ill start a new topic with the next issue which is the front brake.
  11. I just got a new pair of the balance pro tech boots. Size 44.5 EUR = size 10 US. I wear a 10 in normal boots and was worried they would not fit as my feet are wide but they fit perfect and are quite comfy.
  12. Thanks guys. I dont really care to run it that hard. Maybe it's okay and I will run it and find out.
  13. Thanks Dan. I just got through running it and made several high speed runs and it's past the smoking like a trash fire and pulls a little longer before it flattens out. Should it keep pulling like a 2 stroke enduro or is that just the manners of the trials engine? I will check that flywheel as lineaway mentioned also and mix a batch of 80:1 next time I buy fuel for it. It's my first trials bike so still learning their mannerism. First night with my new Gaerne balance pro boots also which allow me to ride much longer without feeling like the pegs are cutting my feet off.
  14. Dan I mixed it at 50:1 with Belray synthetic and 102 octane. Thanks for the replies guys.
  15. Things I had done beforehand where new clean air filter, cleaned entire exhaust. I ran a couple passes in fourth gear that should have cleaned it out but maybe not. Going to at least check to see if the main jet is loose. It ran this way when I got it so who knows. I'll check the other things mentioned. Thanks
  16. I have a Mikuni carb on my 92 Zero that I assume is maybe a VM 26? The BETA parts breakdown shows a PHBH 26 which is maybe a Dell Orto and the Mikuni was put on years ago? Any way the bike runs fine until you get past 1/4 to 3/8 throttle then it is way rich and smokes like a trash fire. Plan to clean the out side then undo the top and lower the needle if it's not already to see it that cleans out the high speed circuit.Any other suggestions? Many thanks.
  17. Yes. I was able to post pics before without a hosting site but they will not go now. I assume something has changed in the last few weeks? Anyway love your videos and trying to do my part to show folks how fun a trials bike can be without needing a 100 acres plus to ride in.
  18. Rivits would have been a good way to go but I assume you are beyond that point. Solid SO rivits and sealant make for nice neat work on AL without warpage. If it's going to be welded fit is king on the joints along with being sure you selected a weldable alloy like most 5 and 6k series.
  19. I have never seen a pair in person, but are they any different than mechanics gloves?
  20. I'll throw in a little update. I replaced the front pads and the braking power still sucks as well as the annoying front master cylinder loseing build up about half the time. I'm thinking of buying a new master cyl and the original Brembo is still available as well as as a AJP which is supposed to be an improvement but cost more and does not seem to come with banjo bolt and maybe some other hardware to install it so wondering if it's even worth the upgrade on such an old bike and novice rider. It will need some fork seals soon and has a nick in the chrome on the L/H slider which I think a rechrome will be in order. Other than that I ride it about every day for a half hour or so and it starts and runs real well and the fan is working good so a little TLC is not to hard to swallow. PS: I did bleed the front master cyl pretty good and it did not help.
  21. I read all nineteen pages, keep up the good work.
  22. Excellent! That's the same form im using
