I have a very nice complete 1981 SWM 320 tl that runs great for sale if someone is still looking? $1800 or possible trade?
Thanks, sounds like a great deal! I have had four SWMs since I posted this. The one I have now is a keeper! Been competing on it for about 6 seasons now. Great bikes!
I use HFS suspension for the fork springs. They are really nice! Just make sure you give them all the information on your forks and old springs. https://suspensionhfs.com/en/
What brand is the hydraulic clutch?
I have a TL320, run 60:1 Amsoil Dominator, 80wt Bel Ray Gearsaver (Maxima is good too), I use OZO shocks with heavy springs.
Hi, a Climber airbox will fit, just heat it up and with little work you can arrange it, I did it on a TX311
Nice TX311! Do you have any closer pictures of your climber airbox? What did you use for an air boot? My original is no good. How do you get to the air filter/top of air box? The sub frame is in the way on mine. Thanks
If you have the inlet the remaining stuff sculpturing a foamfilter is easy. I can sent you template shaped forms of which you can sculp and assemble your own filter.
My air boot is in bad shape. At the Tryals Shop we tried several airbox/air boots and nothing came close to working. There is a guy on facebook that reproduces them but is out of stock. I wish I could make my own.
Did all went as expected or did you found any special issues?
As I have a 312 too I'am curious about how the build went on?
My TXR312 is still in progress. I’ve found all the parts for the engine. Wanted to do something different for the air filter, with no luck. Climber airbox is a lot different and won’t fit. Need to find the stock air filter. Need to find a shift lever too.
I use Belray 80wt Gearsaver, works great and have been using it for about 5 years in my 1980 SWM TL320. I had a small leak at shifter/Kickstarter shaft and doubled the O rings. Haven’t had a leak in a couple of years now!
Anyone have the Aprillia TX/TXR air boot/air filter remade? Can a climber airbox/filter be made to fit? Or anything else be made to work? My boot is bad and filter is almost gone.
I recently picked up a TX311 frame, exhaust, rear suspension etc. I just bought a TXR312 last night in need of a lot of work. What are the differences between the two models (besides rear brake and shock)? The frames look similar except for extra tabs on the 312 for shock, extra mount on mid muffler. On my 312 the shock is leaking oil, bearings are bad. Has wrong muffler. The 311 swingarm, shock, suspension bearings, frame, exhaust are all good. Thanks
I had a Montesa 349 that I mounted the condenser on the frame under the tank to keep it cooler. On my SWM I used a timing box I made to set points. I have since switched the ignition to electronic (about 3 or 4 years ago). I bought the kit from MotoSWM, works awesome! I switched my carb to a OKO from MidAtlantic trials, that also works awesome! They do make a OKO kit for the 240 Rotax.
Thanks, very helpful! Look at Motoswm website, I think there was a engine service manual on there for the Rotax engine. Also try Old Knobbies both are SWM, but uses basically the same Rotax engine.
My bike is still running great with this ignition system! No problems! The only complaint is not having the lighting coil. Has anyone been able to install a lighting coil with this system? I would rather not bother with battery lights. We have a couple of night trials, the sections are under lights but it’s nice to have a headlight on from section to section.
I’m going to be working on a friends 1985 Can Am (Armstrong) 240 (Rotax) trials bike.
I have a couple of SWM 320s (280 Rotax) . So I know where to get any engine parts. The body and frame parts I’m not so sure about. We need the following:
muffler...
...carb kit...
...seat...
...all cables...
...decals...
...intake tube from carb to engine...since it has the Amal carb the intake tube appears different(smaller id) SWM?
The "Problem is the fixing between the gas tank and the metal mount. The gas Tank is made out of PE or PP so glue does not work properly,
The only way are mechanicly by screws where there is material / wall thickness of the gas tank available or to glue the metal piece together by heat and
then melt plastic rivits upon as fasteners.
Why don't you fabricate an attachment / mount that will have the fasteners at the same position as the old ones, That is what I would try?
Yeah your right I should get rid of that bracket that someone made. I would like to fabricate a simple quick release for the seat.
