  1. Here's the problem, I have a what appears to be a feked off part-widened and lengthen swing arm and a 4x18 tyre on my rear wheel, to get the chain to run straight and clear the shock (already spaced slightly out) by a millimetre, the tyre has to be moved on to the left giving very limited clearance on that side and the wheel does not sit centrally in the swingarm. This does not seem right to me but I have nothing to compare it against. To me it seems that the swingarm is not wide enough, and maybe the sub frame is to narrow causing the shock interference. Has anyone else experienced these issue, am I just missing something?
  2. I am new to trials riding having only started this xmas but have devolved from a 2003 gasgas to ty250 and now a tiger cub which is a fixer upper, clutch, carb/timing being the main things, my question at this point is what size jets are you guys using and how many turns out on the mixture questions, the carb is a mikuni vm22, also do you cover the air hole at the bottom of the mouth at the front of the carb where in meets the manifold? any help appreciated
  3. I got my dating cert from vintage Japanese motorcycle club (very helpful) after a similar reply from Yamaha, the dvla had not issues using it for registration.
  4. well I got there in the end, not to painful really, got a dating cert from vintage Japanese motorcycle club, who were very helpful, had no issues in getting nova cert, the only thing I had an issue with was I did not send off the original dating cert and got a rejection due to this, resent it and got a age related v5, 5 days later, did not have to get an mot, pay for insurance or road tax.
  5. hi, hoping you guys can help, looking to register an old 1974 ty250, I have emailed Yamaha customer services and below is what they have sent back, "Thank you for your enquiry regarding your 1974 model year Yamaha TY250. Unfortunately, due to the age of the machine we do not hold the date of manufacture. The DVLA normally require the month and year of actual manufacture (as the year of manufacture is not always the same as the model year). We would therefore advise that you speak to the DVLA to see if they would accept a letter without the date of manufacture before you go ahead as all we can provide is the model year. If they are happy to do so then we can produce the dating letter at a charge of £40." is there another way to get a dating certificate or will the dvla accept only the model year, thought I would ask before I tried to waste my life getting an answer from the dvla.
