Makes sense now? Ill cut a notch in the pipe I’ve left it now and I’ll try again in an hour or so just to make sure it does start ok... I sussed the full rev mark and also had to pull the kill switch? Must of stretched the throttle cable putting the needle back in. ? done that one before

I took one dude off and it started first time , I also took fuel pipe off let it trickle then re connect? I’ll not h that pipe if that’s all they are? They obviously won’t be able to breathe

Do you know what that little hose is ? Strange how it’s connect to the carbon both sides? I don’t know what it is

Won’t start at all now? I’ve put everything back as I should I’ll strip it down again ?

Just cleaned the carb as to my previous thread, there’s a 5mm hose connects from one side of the carb to the other? It was split and had an hole in it. I’ve replaced cleaned and put back togeather. Now when I start on choke? Everything fine but when I take it off and rev, it’s bogging like mad. All I’ve done is clean with brake cleaner and done the jets with a small thread off a wire brush. It never did this before so have I done anything wrong or is there anything to check? The mixture screws are set and have not been touched.

Hi guys the bike rides and runs fine, obviously I have to put the choke on for cold start, but it never idles properly, starts to scream it’s head of, so stop choke then then slow revs for a few minutes then it’s fine and ticks over ok. Question is? Is this normal? Or should the choke be kept on. Also I’ve just had a look at the carb, at the side of the choke lever, there’s a little 5mm clear hose. Looks like it runs under the carb and connects on the other side? Can’t be sure without taking off but looks it it also has a couple of holes and looks a little brittle... is this a problem or can anyone tell me what it does. Like I said it does run well once warm. Ive cleaned and remover carbs before but on mx an small quads. I have experience and spanner time. Just not sure with a different bike and carb thanjs for any help

Hi guys. How do I know what chain to get to replace my old one? Are they all the same length? It’s a 1999 txt 280 ive cleaned the chain but it’s very dirty and full of gunk do I measure? Count links or are they all the same

All sorted. Fixed it at the weekend, traced it back from the coil, the light switch assembley on the bars is off I do not know? Whoever spliced it in has done s fantastic job. The main wire rom the coil changes colours 3 times in the switch block... but sorted and working well... he came off Saturday being a smart a*** and drove it into the ground, but it worked... ??

Been looking st a few aluminium fuel 1ltr fuel cans... what does everybody use when out and about as emergency fuel can? Obviously you can’t carry a big van, just thinking of a top up for when out on the trail.

Trying to get the cover off to change air filter, the 1svrew on the left hand side is just spinning? I presume the plastic lug has snapped.. I can’t get the cover off fully to get at it? Anybody else had this problem or could offer a solution? Thznkyou

Just spoke to a guy today who bought his lad a brand new bike and didn’t have the kill switch on. Come off the bike wenta it’s own way face planted and screamed it’s nuts off and siezed up £600 later the bikes running again. But it was just advice I wanted and thankful for everybody has freedom of speech h. ??

Hi. Looking to change oil in my gas gas 280 1999 it says in the manual 10w-40 750ml just wondering if that’s correct oil or would there be a recommendation for. also, I know the viewing glass you don’t fill to the top? Is it just over half? Or three quarters thanks for any advice kris...

It’s a safety precaution for my son. It’s a big difference from riding dirt bikes to trials... if he comes off it’s there for safety... ive has a quick look and can see any black wires? There’s a grey wire but I’ll have to in tape the loom and check in better light. Thanjs for the advice

Hi. I’m be got 1999 gas gas 280. it has a kill switch on the light switch, but I’m wanting to put a magnetic ? kill switch and lanyard on. Question is, I’ve sesrched and looked for a video or diagram, but all I can find is mx bikes. Can anyone help... I know they’ve only two wires? But where do they go. ??

He’s sending me the full b5 tomorrow by post? I presume by the v5c/2 slip I have it’s gad 2 owners so registered. If I don’t get anything off the guy? Which I’m not holding a lot of hope? Be he seemed legit , and honest...

It’s a cracking bike, and I’m not using on the rd. it’s for my lad. Just wanted to register it just in case plus insure it but im now thinking if I register it? Will I need to tax it or sworn it?

Thanks bumpy. There’s one fixing screw where the seat is under the tank on the plastic. And the plastic is one unit It just says 280 txt on the graffix and the vin says gg27991 do I presume 270

It’s just the last couple of digits or numbers... it’s got 90% I’ve git a picture but pointless sending. I thinks it just one letter or number... he’s sending me the v5 now as he told me that I send the little slip off? But I didn’t realise that we both have to sign it. And I keep the v5c/2 for temp proof. Ive put the reg in online and it’s coming up as it is ? Model, engine cc, and colour

Thankyou all for you’re replys? The manual is a greT help.. ive got the v5c/2 part of the v5, but I’m sure that this is his copy and not what I send in. I’m not to bothered, it just to get the full log book in my name. The vin tag on the headstock has a gouged out of it as the headlight bulb has rubbed on the plate.

I’ve just purchased a gas gas. It’s 1999 model? My question is what model is it? The plastics say it’s a 280 but I’ve got the v5 T Reg but it says it’s a 258cc on the v5 znd help would be great full and then I can try and find a manual do I know what oil amounts and so on thanks for any help and advice
