  1. Here are a few photos of the petrol tank.I hope they help.
  2. I'm quite lucky as here in the Easter center the vast majority of clubs run four routes (Orange,white,red/blue,and yellow).Orange for youth D/beginners,White for youth C and Novices the route I ride.and so on up to Expert. I must admit that my eleven year old son on a Beta 80 has bettered my score the last two times out. We as a family are members of the Norfolk and Suffolk Junior Mcc. My wife and I run the trials section of the club. Paul
  3. Well since my first post I have done a couple more trials and have had one or two new problems crop up. I have had the fork seals blow on both legs and the seals go on one of the rear shocks! Also my new carb kept flooding,I stripped it down to find the float leaver pin hadn't been fitted properly and was bent. A new one from an old card i had in my workshop soon had it running OK. So I've invested in new seals and spring for the front end from Bultaco UK and Betor Expert rear shocks of 360mm with 40 lbs springs from Sammy Miller products. Next trial this Sunday can't wait to see how the new suspension works.
  4. Hi,I recently got a 1969 model 49 which i am slowly doing a running restoration. So far i have replaced the crank seals, points and condenser, changed the carb for a Mikuni VM,replaced the wheel bearings and hub seals and fixed a hole in the tank. I road it for first time at a trial on Sunday and what fun i had on it. Over the last month or so i have been reading all i can on this Bultaco section and have found out many new things. I will keep you up to date as my work carries on and may well be calling on your vast store of know haw. regards Paul250
  5. If you have no luck finding a rim lock you could use six self tapping screws.Three each side through the side of the rim spaced at 120 degrees. Deflate the tire and push bead away from the rim, drill the three holes per side, reinflate the tire and fit the self tapping screws (screws need to be 4 to 5 mm longer than the rim is thick, so they grip the tire bead but don't go through.I have used this method in the past with good results.
  6. Try www.talon-eng.co.uk they make all manner of sprockets including one offs from blank.
  7. Graham If you have time this weekend we(NSJMcc)are running a trial at Rendham Suffolk just off A12 ( see NSJ Mcc forum for details or phone me) I have found the file of receipts/invoices for all parts, work carried out on your Gas Gas sins 27/02/03 which I will pass on to you. Paul
  8. Graham As i said When you purchased my bike it had an 03 gearbox cluster and clutch fitted under warantee,As the 02 gear clusters tended to brake as this one did. When i rebuilt the engine last year i fitted a new clutch pack and the bike has only done about six trials since. Castrol GTX 5w30 is the oil that was in the bike when you picked it up (this was the oil recommended to me by our local trials dealer) and which i have used throughout. I always used to ride around for about ten minutes at the start of a trial and leave it running as i checked out the first few sections to warm up the engine/oil. and found the clutch wouldn't drag after that. If you need any more advice please feel free to phone or email me PAUL
  9. My kids have had txt 50 boys for the last five years between them. The best mod you can make is fit a 60 tooth rear sprocket (from Talon Engineering) this seems to allow the bike to move off slowly with the clutch biting sooner and less aggresively. Persevere with the trying of different thickness of steel plates. In one of our bikes we have one thick plate and two thin and the other bike one thin and two thick. Another mod I would recomend is to open out the inlet to the air box.If you remove the air box lid and turn it over you will see a small square hole. cut away the plastic towards the back of the hole until it's about double in size. This allows the engine to breath at higher revs and seems to cure the boys tendency to bog down at low revs. I hope this is some help. the TXT Boy is a great little bike when sorted.
  10. Hi MAXXIS do make some really nice trials tyres in these sizes. But the UK importer doesn't bring them in to the UK. After talking to them last year they said if there was enough demand they would bring in a batch. So go on give them a ring.

    Txt50 Gearing

I carried out all the mods you have mentioned on my sons 50 BOY about three years ago.And can't recommend them highly enough.Thay totally transform the bike from a good toy to a serious trials iron! After three years my son has moved up to an 80cc bike and my daughter is now riding the gasgas. In all that time we've had no reliability issues.
  12. My 9 year old has just moved up from a GasGas TXT50 to the Beta Rev 80 with no problems even though he is quite small for his age. The Beta rev 80 seems to be bullet proof to me and certainly seems lighter than the GasGas80 we tried out. Good luck with the change
  13. My smallish 9 year old has switched from his 50 BOY to a BETA 80 with no problems. He still rides the 50 in trials and I think his riding of it has improved as well.

    Rev 80

Well I purchased what I hope is a loverly little 05 bike yesterday! It's only had 4/5 months work. YOUR HELP was mutch appreciated as I was able to look at the specifics with sum degree of knowledge. It rides very well with loads of power and quite a lot of torque, I think I may use it my self and leave my gas gas 250 at home if my son can be prised off. Now my son is alredy wanting to cover it in carbon os it's off to Trick Bits we go!!
