  1. Ishy, got to thinking today about the topic of this discussion, and I thought to myself, what the h**l are you thinking about retiring from eh?? You have to actually have a job to be able to retire you know!! Keep up all the hard work!

    :D Cheers, Steve

  2. Great pics Ishy. Thanks for coming all the way up here for the trial, especially after being in SSDT the week before! My lad ( sitting in front of me, and beside Ishy's lad, truly enjoyed his very first trial. We had similar experiences too. Matt had a 3rd and a 4th trading spots with that Isherwood. After you left on Sun Ishy, I put it to all the youngun's in the Expert class, winning with 19pts. Old boy's still have it eh?

    Cheers, Steve

  3. Hi All:

I'm so happy to say that with the great help of Pete Culliford, from r2w's site, the mighty Fantic is now up and running!!

Pete emailed me today with the correct order of the wires going into the HT coil. I tryed it right away and wow, spark! I quickly put the rest of the bike back together, put petrol in and.......... first kick, she flashed up!!

What a sweet sound to hear the old pop of the 240 after so many years! First time I've ever heard mine run as well!

Thanks to all those who sent me info and ideas, especially r2w and Pete!! I am very grateful and excited to ride the beauty!!

    Cheers, Steve

  5. Ringo:

Not sure what that concoction is that you're drinking and then being so messed up that you put it in that bike of yours.(Hmmm, could this be the source of the famous engine pinging that we've heard so much about over the years?) But, I'm almost certain that it's some kind of girly drink that is probably served with a giant umbrella too.

You should take a trip to Britain sometime and taste a true "mixed " drink. A manly drink! Half guiness, half real English cider. Can you say "Black Velvet"? Of course, the next best thing would be to come up North. I think our light beer would be labelled XXX down where you come from. You are able to come accross the border, right?? I think that desert air has eroded your taste buds and made you soft my friend!

    Cheers, Steve B)

  6. Thanks everyone for your help so far, but no luck at all! r2's wiring diagram, but it's not really a help as I can see so I am going to simplify my questions.

The wiring harness that comes from my stator coil has 5 wires in it. Brown, Orange,Red, Green and black. My Ht Coil has space for 4 wires to plug into it. The HT coil is labelled as well as color coded. It is coded for; White, Red, Green, and Green. It also has a yellow wire coming off one side of it, I assume that is the ground to the frame, then the actual HT lead. We have tested the stator, and it seems to have current going to the HT coil, but when hooked up to the HT coil, nothing coming through! HELP, please. Not sure on the configuration of what wires go where into the HT coil. Someone out there must have a 240(or 300) with the same ignition who could check for me, or someone who just knows what they are doing!!

    Cheers, Steve

  7. Ringo would never call anyone from Canada a pipsqueek, especially anyone (most of us) who can out party Team FullMOnty, anytime, anywhere! Especially drinking that cool-aid you guys down there call beer! B)

  8. Brian:

They are defenitely not the same age!! I know I'm aging myself, but I have known the both of them since they were just wee "wains". (babies) Kerry is older than Christy, although you can't really tell them apart at times.

    Cheers, Steve

  9. Alright all you comedians out there (Ishy excluded). Someone out there must have a 240 or 300 that they can take the tank off and tell me what color wires plug into where!! I diagram would be nice, but I have a beaut of a bike here I'm dying to ride. All new bits, has to be something easy!

    Cheers, Steve

  10. Does anyone out there have a wiring diagram for a 240 Fantic?? I have new stator coil and flywheel, and HT coil (via r2w). The entire system is new but I still have no spark! Desperate to get the thing running! Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

PS. The ignition system is Duacti

    Cheers, Steve

  11. Good to hear your thoughts Dad, ah, I mean Mark! Wow, I am getting old eh? Hope you are well! You are right and thanks for shedding another light on the positive things about sending a team to the TDN.

    Cheers, Steve

  12. I remember someone posting on here about the readings that the HT coil should have in order to work properly, but I can't find them. Could you please re-post! Thank you! If anyone in North America has a HT coil for a 240 Fantic, please let me know. Urgent!!

    Cheers, Steve

  13. Aaron:

Yes, good questions and thoughts! It's unfortunate that your club is going through a bit of a hard time! In my many years of being in trials, 30+, I have seen the ebb and flow of membership many times. I think it's fair to say that in most clubs there is always a core of guys who have been around for many years, and some that maybe stay in it for 5 or 10 and get bored with it and move onto something new. I believe this will always be the case!

I don't know if I have any answers at all to your good questions, but, I'll try. In my mind, the goal of any club is to look after the majority of it's membership and the club itself. Yes, making it a family sport is crucial and a good way to bring new people into the sport. But, I think it's a mistake not to always have an avenue open for the few who possess that special quality of talent and desire. It must be nurtured. But, not at the expense of the club's main interests.

I think the avenue of sending a team to the TDN must remain open for that reason. Very few if any of our young guys could afford to go to Europe and compete with the Euro's to get better, so the TDN might be there only chance. I think you also have answered some of your own questions too. If there aren't any strong viable clubs in the country with secured land to ride on, there won't be much hope of those clubs sending excess funds to support any TDN team.

    Cheers, Steve

  14. Finally approaching the point of trying to flash up my 240 Fantic that I have been patiently re-doing. Getting very excited to hear it run. Last things to do, are clean the carb completely, and put the new ring on , throttle cable, and put the rest of the engine back together. Hopefully try flashing it before the weekend is over!!

  15. Hey Jay:

I've been looking for vintage Fantic clothing for sometime now and I don't remember that offer :) . I have one of Duane's old 240's that I got from Ishy. I'm hopefully gonna have it ready for our 2Day in April!

    Cheers, :D Steve

  16. Hey guys:

Looking for a good used 50 Minitrial bike of any make. Preferrably in North America. In the $1200-$1500 range. Does anyone know someone who has something for sale. They seem hard to find and they sell even faster!

    Cheers, Steve

  17. Ishy, this would be a good one for you to answer. You still have yours right? Always wanted one, but wonder what they would be like to ride. A guy as old as me could even drop down and ride in the senior class with one of those thumpers!
