Just kidding...I love mine, I jokingly call it my Suburban...it takes a 5 acre field to turn it around in, but it will take you anywhere you want to go!
I've been riding one for 5 yeras now...here is a pic...
If there is anything I can do to help, just let me know!
Murray
Maybe you could send him one of those specially made lightweight bricks to prop it up with!
I cannot imagine it much worse than when you flame out that Honda. Those silly things don't always want to spring back to life you know, and if it is really bad, you then have to do the Detroit handshake reset procedure to them or they may never light off!
Last time I knackered one of them, a local dealers demo bike, he told me I could not ride it anymore and I owed him $15 for a sparkie! I told him where to shove it, and have not been on one since!
Suppose I should add the fact that he is also my local Sherco dealer(we are friends), so he just put it on my tab! Oh well, it was worth it to see him kicking himself into exhaustion trying to start it too!
That must have been you I saw wandering downtown in Santa Cruz at the beach about that time. You should have said something, I would have loaned you one of my surfing wetsuits to sleep in.........
Jon
Jon, I will say there was a pizza place on Hwy 1 in Santa Cruz that had the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Or maybe I was just too hungry for my only meal that day? Thoughts still linger. Maybe you knew my buddy Willie Durbin, he got around town a lot, as a garbage man! Total nutter! Everywhere really! And he knew lots of townfolk.
This was probably '73-'74 as I recall. Willie played a bad ass Bass guitar in local bands and was very popular for his showmanship and skills. As we lost touch after that year, I have often wondered if he is still alive, how many of your old friends are still kicking? See, once you get past Clives age, the numbers seem to start dwindling!
We had a lot of fun back then though! Never looked back!
I can tell that the knee in the pic was protected by a brace, but no protection for the knee cap! Riding on granite, a lot, these are the first things to go on for me. The youth(small)mx knee/ shin guards tuck in top of boots and work well, and have saved me from the same injury several times!
I have seen several ride in short pants, but the same boots and guards apply! And yes, it gets very hot here!
Wow they did it! Yea, Texas is way too hot to ride now for sure!
As PA manages his way around, I hope he can track down Fracy or Dave in BC, seems nice up there! As things go, a stop over at TTC in the winter should be good. I have been there around Thanksgiving with good weather. December and January seem iffy, but we usually hold our state Presidents Cup weekend about mid Jan. and I think the NM and AZ boys are going good that time of year.
I wish they could make it round to the Octobertest in OK, usually a great time for all classes! And nice place to visit!
When I was 15, I hitchiked from Texas to Cali in the middle of summer. It was 115f in the desert, that sucked. And when I got there, somewhere near Clive, the ocean water was too cold to swim in. So I just spent a few cool nights up in the hills and came home!
I posted this question down the line in another thread, but seems nobody read it! Or Knows?
I do believe it worth checking into! Just because it does work! I guess Mr Honda thought the same!
I am qurious to know if the same air filter cleaning and oiling products as offered here now by Honda are used there in UK.
It is basically the No-Toil products, of water based bio- degradeable, cleaner(powder) and a special high tack oil that is easily emulsified by the cleaner? And easier on the foam filter it seems.
I have used it for years now, long before I found it on the shelf at the local Honda shop. The pair of bottles lasts me all year for your = to about 7-8 quid!
A bit of hot water in a small tub, whith the cleaner will do me twoor three filters just fine, blow dry, then apply the oil and squeeze out the excess. Done, bag them for later use. Dump the soapy water and dirt!
If I use something like the PJ1 filter oil, I still seem to need a solvent such as petrol or mineral spirits to get them clean, not only a pain, but unless you have permanant maintained wash tanks in the shop, you have to do something with the solvent! Not good for the average person!
Probably from posting here! Pays better than Andy!
I always wanted a Honda 300, now I can afford it!

And I'm still waiting on that $250,000 check from Bill Gates for circulating that e-mail, should be here any time now!
Seems my tax rebate ck should just cover my increased fuel costs for now, not the electrical rates though!
I think I understand the problem, but not the question?
If your arm or shaft is stripped from being loose or something, you could just simply tack weld the arm to the shaft in proper position with a mig! Takes seconds! Done! You never take it off anyway, best I figure, But since you have new ones?
If you ever did need to remove them, just cut the weld, they were done anyway!
Seems to me that people never quite realize the fact that those crossover charts are not too good. Being in the car business for a LONG time, I have seen lots of wierd things with plugs.
There aer also some plugs I hate, such as those Splitfire things.
Yes there are many equivelent plugs that work without problem, but you never quite know untill it is a problem.
Therefore, the best overall recommendation is to stick closely with the mfg. spec plug! And if you are going to vary at all, stick with the same brand, such as a change from a NGK BP5ES to a BP5EVX platnum, same range, same maker!
Any thing else and you become the test pilot!
So Biff made you fix what you tore up,eh Zipper? I hate that
Nothing wrong with Champions in the CORRECT applications!
It is soo difficult to diagnose these things, even when you are there.
If the crank seals were leaking, the choke should make it run better after warm I would think.
Then you get to the HEAT thing. A slow ignition timing can give too much heat in the exhaust, as there is too much unburned fuel downstream. But a noteable change in preformance should follow if that were the case and the stator has gone off, or the box!
The strobe check would be good. As I recall, they should fire somewhere around 20-25 degrees BTC and show some advance with revs. A noteable change from this, say at only 10 degree BTC would be a good indication of a problem there related to the ignition actually functioning on the slow side of what it is supposed to be doing.
Unfortunately I have no hard numbers to go by.
Peter, would those numbers fairly match what you are thinking?

I seen PA was on the line, hope they are doing well while making their way around and hope to hear from them.
I do not mean to hijack this thread, but I would like to see it continue with PA's adventure!
Yes Brian, things were different back then, but yet changing. Growing up in the 60's had a lot of different input!
I actually remember watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show! Listening to rock on AM radio! Not that my parents ever approved!
Jon did not have TV! He is really old! I think they used smoke signals or something!
