Hey Guys,
The rear brake pads on my 1997 Fantic Section (AJP) were worn out. I pressed the pistons back in and replaced the pads. Now, I have no rear brakes. I know that there must be aair in the system. However, I have been trying to get the air out of this system for hours!
I got a vacuum bleder system, but that has not helped.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tony P

Hey guys, I have a 1997 Fantic Section, in really nice condition. There is one thing I like your help on.
With the engine running, while the wheels are not rolling, it is impossible to get the tranny into neutral. If I am rooling to a stop, I can select neutral most of the time, BEFORE I stop rolling.
I've used many different types of fluid / oils in the tranny, and adjusted the clutch per specs, but still no improvement.
If the engine is not running, finding neutral is no problem.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tony P

Is there anyone on the board that lives near Bill Pye?
If so, I need a big favor!
I need a sidestand , spring, and mounting bracket to fit my 1997 Fantic Section.
Maybe someone close to him could inquire if Bill Pye has these 3 items.
I'd like to have them shipped to me in Charlotte, NC USA.
Does bill accept Pay Pal ? If not how can I pay?
I have had no luck finding a website or phone number for Mr. Pye.
I'd appreciate any help!
Cheers!

I have never worked on a Rookie. BUT, I have owned 25 dirt bikes and I have never had to split the cases to replace wet side crank seal. In fact, I installed a new seal friday on my sons GG50 while I had the clutch pack out. Just need to lubricate the seal and make sure you press it in straight. Go slow, I used a deep well socket to press the seal in ion the GG50.

Looking for any suggestions!
My 97 Fantic Section starts and runs great.
But I have one problem that I would love to correct!
With the bike running, while not moving forward,It is nearly impossible to find neutral. For that matther, it is hard to select 1-N-2 unless you are actually riding the bike.
I have adjusted the clutch two times.
Am I doing something wrong?
I have tried a couple of different gearbox lubes with no change in performance.
Thanks,

Do me a big favor. buy the Fantic Section and sell me the side stand.
By the way, my 1997 Fantic Section has had NO reliability problems, and has NOT been short on power! I have the additional flywheel weight, I LOVE the power of this bike.

I see posts about you guys in the UK riding your trials bike on the street and the MOT testing.
I find that interesting. So if I lived in UK, I'd occassionally see you guys riding around, standing up, on a bike with no seat, going to work or to the store???
How do the trials tires hold up on the road?
When you come to a stop at an intersection, do you keep your feet up and balance until you get a green light?
Just curious, I wish I could register my bike for the street and ride it!

Well today, I finally found time to work on the Section that was very hard to start. Cleaned air filter, cleaned carb, installed new needle and seat, installed new fuel vent hoses. Still hard to start.
Checked plug and realized that plug was gapped at about .35 or .40 . After I re-gapped the plug to .20, the bike started right up, runs great now. Starts first or second kick.
Made me so happy, I got out the buffer and polished the aluminum frame.
I also checked and found that I have the added flywheel weight.
Now if I only understood the fork adjustments and how to use them.
Is the rear suspension adjustable?
And sorry for the dlay, but we LOST our digital camera a couple of weeks ago, so I could not post a photo of the fuel tap modification. Today, I used my dogotal camcorder to make a video, and converted that to a still image, so, hope this works!
Thanks for all of your help!
I really like this bike, much nicer than my 309.

My neighbors are going to vacation in Scotland next week.
They offered to pick up a few Trials magazines for me while on vacation.
So, my question is, what are some monthly or weekly magazines, available at a local newstand that I could request my neighbor purchase? Also, the price would be nice since I want to pay in advance.
My son & I love trials and would love to have some nice trials reading material since very little is available here in the good ol' USA.
Thanks,
Tony

Connor, I had to modify that petcock by drilling the "handle" and putting a 4mmx40mm boly on it.
Hard to explain, works well. I could send a digital photo if you like.

Thanks for the information.
Anyone know how much Bill Pye would charge for a flywheel weight shipped to the USA ?
I have no idea how to contact him.

I've ordered a new needle and seat to install when I clean the carb.
I'd appreciate basic settings on air screw float level, etc.
I'd gladly pay for a copy of a manual.

Hey Guys,
I just bought a really nice 1997 Fantic Section (Aluminum Frame) .
I'd welcome any suggestions of any type. I bought this bike after owning a
91 Fantic 309.
So far, I've noticed that the '97 Section is much harder to start, sometimes taking 6,7,8,
or so kicks. My 309 always started on the first or second kick. I'd love to improve the
starting.
I'd also love to find a flywheel weight for the Section.
While the suspension on the Section is much nicer, I have no idea what to do wih the adjustments on each fork leg, dampning? / rebound? . +/- .
Is the rear suspension adjustable?
I ride Novice and weigh 165lbs.
Thanks,
Tony P

I will NOT ride a motorcycle without one, and neither will my son.

Tommi,
Matthew had tears in his eyes last night as he crawled into bed. He said he was really gonna miss Tommi. Now keep in mind that my son has only seen Tommi 3 times in his life.
But my son really cherishes having met Tommi. Like this past January when Tommi called our home to wish Matthew a happy 8th birthday! The phone call lasted over 30 minutes! My son was walking on a cloud after that and got out his atlas. He wanted to "see" where Tommi "came from" on the world map. Then, he wanted to read about Finland.
At the Youth Nationals, we were finally able to buy my son a used 2000 model Gas Gas TXT 50 with the help of a dear friend. We are the 3rd owner of this bike. It is definately USED, but in good mechanical shape. The first thing my son said was "now I have a bike just like Tommi's!"
Matthew was saying his prayers last night, and with a tear in his eye, he thanked God for Tommi and getting introduced to the sport of trials, and a he prayed that Tommi would not forget the people in America, and that Tommi would be kept safe and get plenty of rest at home, enjoy his family, and return to America SOON!
And then he said that one day he wants to go out to eat with Tommi and ride trials with him.
As Matthews' father, I'd say that he has a pretty good guy for a role model / hero!
Tommi, you are a CLASS ACT!
Take care, enjoy being back home, and come back SOON ! :>
