  1. thanks, I've been advised to use Sherco woodruff keys and torque the nut to the proper specs, so parts are ordered and found my torque wrench! So it should be in the sections soon! looks like the flywheel had loosened and took out the keys...
  2. What would cause my Sherco to shear 2 flywheel woodruff keys with in 1 hour? Bike is timed and fuel is good. New stator and electrics checked out by dealer not long ago. The bike ran for about 30 seconds then nothing!
  3. would a TY175d silencer be ok to fit onto a TY250a?
  4. enjoy the ride Micheal! you will get some good info here...
  5. thats the one, I should have grabbed it years ago! Thanks.
  6. Does anyone know where I can get a good edition of the 'Trials Techniques'?
  7. I gave my TY250 a huge weekend of trail riding with the new falcon's fitted. They went thru a rough time, big rocks, water mud, rough rocky tracks.I'm glad they survived! Well worth the money.
  8. nothing else done since the last post..have to sort it soon. Even if it means sending the stator away! I had to get the TY250 on the track for this years comp.
  9. Tony, I have 1 on watch list now..I'll see this local bloke tomorrow. So frustrating trying to get the TY ready for the years' comps and I find it now! Better now than in the section!
  10. Got those today, thanks mate. I'll try to get some readings soon. hopefully it will be going once again soon..
  11. Its a long haul to send the stator to the UK, but thanks anyway. All elimination possible points have been done. It just wouldnt start after a long lay off between rides. Just has no spark..
  12. Will... I have a number of a bloke not far from me, I'll be going to see him tomorrow. Thanks for your advice..Here's a pic. Cant figure out how it happened..
  13. I finally got the flywheel puller from the UK, took the flywheel off to find some light dusting on the contacts of the stator, cleaned them up and still no spark. I kicked the bike over holding the spark lead, nothing..it should have thrown me across the garage! Any ideas? People have said 'Its the stator, they all go'. how can I test it? Cheers.
  14. Ive found a long crack in the rear brake backing plate on my '74 TY250. It seems to be full thickness crack. Can this be welded or do I source another 1?
  15. Jon, I have bookmarked it and visit there everyday. As an OZ trials rider for over 26 years, the info on that site is great. TC is a good reference point as well as some humour..Drop by and lookout for Oldbiker, i'll be there.

    TY175 manual pdf

Is there a TY175 manual available as a pdf?
  17. thanks, I have been wondering about the arm pump, I may have the bars too far forward. On the TY250a I had the main 'upright' part of teh bars in line with the forks, comfy and usable too. I may go back to that and try again.
  18. what does this do to your riding? Force you to ride 'straight up'? move your weight forward? and how far is too far? I've been advised to move my bars well forward of the tripleclamp on my '03 Sherco250. I'm not comfortable with this but have been told this is the better to set up a newer bike.
  19. Neo, I'm changing from a '74 TY250a to an '03 Sherco 250 for State and Club rounds. I've used ATF in the TY for years without any problems, now the Sherco is different and i'm still learning whats good and bad for it. This thread is good as it has given me some ideas. You are using Nulon oil? where did you pick it up from?
  20. check the ball hasnt been pushed out by the spring and not lodged behind the choke lever..
  21. If I wasnt in so much hurry to get me TY back on the sections, I may have gone for the electronic ignition and not worried about the points and condensor.
