  1. I would've expected a bunch of Fugi-Gas signs all over - but this??? Jake Whitaker had fans following him around and waving these signs all day.
  2. Youth final scores. 1. Jack 77, still missing two sections. Will win no matter what he scored. Well done to team Challoner. 2. Pat - 94 3. Ferrer - 97 4. Borrellas - 103 5. Dagnicourt - 108
  3. Thanks for understanding, Andrew. As for the rest of the scoring, Charlie seems to be on top of things. Pat just finished his second loop and I'm going to try to see if I can cheer him up a bit. I'll be back with a final wrap-up and podium photos in a couple of hours.
  4. First loop scores. Youth. 1. Jack Challoner - 41 2. Patrick Smage - 45 3. Alexandre Ferrer - 53 4. Francesc Moret -56
  5. Nigel, this one's for you. Alexz used a entirely different line on 15.
  6. All you Sam fans out there, here's his run at the same spot.
  7. Here's one for my buddy Ian. Ross on section 15.
  8. Junior's through 12. Wiggy - 14 Gubian - 27 Danby - 27 Haslam - 29 Guillaume - 30
  9. Pat just finished the first loop with 45 dabs. Take a look at the poor kid's face.
  10. Jack's back on track. Through 8 sections - 13 dabs. Pat's sinking fast. 4 - fives in a row - on 9, 10, 11, and 12. Now Pat's got 36 dabs and in 4th place.
  11. Juniors through 6. Wiggy - 3 Guillaume - 10 Gubian - 12 Danby - 13 Haslam - 14
  12. Pat on section 6. This is a steep, muddy incline with a little kicker to a huge 7 foot jump up to a log.
  13. Jack on section 5. Pat and Jack were the only two riders to clean this section.
  14. Patrick's completed 7 sections and has 16. Jack Challoner is stuck at section 6 right now - on a 11. Moret has 23 through 6 sections. Ferrer on section 7 has 24 dabs. A couple of photos coming shortly.
  15. Tennessee has Yeti. Duluth has Steve Alhers. In Japan, this is their mascot. I'll get back to the trials coverage now.
  16. This one's for 'No Jive' Clive and Kip Webb. Here's the Japanese TdN fundraiser t-shirt girl. She's selling their Japan TdN t-shirts for 3000 yen. Or 30 bucks.
  17. We have some section changes today. 2, 6, 10, 11 and 12. Patrick goes out at 9:52 JST.
  18. Good-morning, all. Day two is totally different from yesterday. When we got to the complex the sun was shining. As Copey would say, Yeehaw. My first photo is our Japan Sherco distributors, Yoshinori Imada (left) and Junji Fujii (right). They've been magnificent hosts, not to mention top notch in taking care of all the Sherco riders. Foot-note: All due respect, Nigel, I didn't come here to cover all classes, just the youth class and Patrick in particular. I don't be paid to do this. That said, I'll do my best to cover the Juniors too. Enjoy the coverage.
  19. Hop Sing, I couldn't tell if today is going to be any different. Take a look at what I see out the window of the hotel this morning. Today you can't even see the track through all the fog.
  20. Adam, Jack and Pat. Still 1 and 2 in the standings.
  21. Get a load of this. Sections 2, 6, 10 and 12, average score - a whooping five. Winner averaged 3.67 dabs a section. All other riders averaged 4.38 dabs per section.
  22. The youth riders are finished. Scorekeeping has some sections not accounted for right now. Here's how I've got it as of now. Remember, this is unofficial results. Challoner - 106 Moret - 107 Ferrer - 114 Smage - 114
  23. A quick change of the air filter. Pat resting up in the background. Mark, there' 11 riders in the youth class.
