Hi, I rang Gas Gas a few weeks ago, they didn't have the Ohlins in but were getting them in shortly. I've been busy with work and haven't done anything more since then. I work Preston but live in London so weekends are usually busy. For some reason my other half seems to think I should spend time with her rather than settin up my bikes. Women tuh. I was looking at taking the back shock off but it looked so difficult I though I'd wait until I had more time. With Xmas coming up and buying a new house I'll wait til the new year and revisit it then. Thanks, Rob
  2. The engine from theTricker is from the Serow, the one on the Scorpa looks like a C90 engine (but surely can't be!). Rob.

Well success. Gas Gas do make an Ohlins to fit (more or less) the 01 TXT. Since I think mine is knackered it makes sense to get one of those. The bad news is that they have none in stock. But they *may* have them next week. They mentioned having new bushes or something that might be needed. Anybody fitted the Ohlins to the 01TXT? Rob.

Done all the bearings and linkages (well Stevens Trials have) so a shock rebuild seems like the right idea. Any ideas for where? Thanks, Rob.

Ohlins don't quote a price for a replacememt shock. In fact they can't even find a paryt no for it so that's that. Oh well, can you get the Sachs rebuilt? Where and how much?

Thanks for the updates. My linkages are in great condition, in fact they got replaced around 3 months ago. Any idea on the price of a new Ohlins vs a new Sachs (?) for the Gas Gas? Rob.

Well that got your attention... I had a nice trip down to Devon last week and stayed at the Bikers Rest. Had a great time with the 20 acres of so of wood and streams. Highly recommended. I met some other bikers down there and one was on a 03 Beta. We swapped bikes (I have a 01 280 GG). The first thing that grabbed my attention was the power delivery, it was so smooth compared to my 280. Not necessarily better, but very different. The next thing was the rear suspension. It felt soft, smooth and wonderful. Any ideas as to why the Beta rear suspension felt so much better than the GG. best wishes, Rob.
  10. I did the Thames MCC in West Horsley on Sunday and had a great day out. The trial was one of the best organised I have been to and made it such a pleasure to compete (if that's the right word for my expected cricket score!). I'd like to publically thank any of the organisers on here for the time they put in and also to severely beat with a large baseball bat whoever laid out sections 6 and 11. (Just joking, but they were a bit stiff). Did anybody clear section 11? I did the easy (ha) route and struggled through it for a total of 11/15. I did hear that a bloke riding a DOT got through on a 1 which was pretty impressive stuff. Anyway thanks again to all the organisers, 10/10 and a very happy (if sore and battered) rider. Best wishes, Rob.
  11. I've just replaced the compression and extension fork tops. Getting that !"
  12. Interesting view on keeping the front light, I was trying to get the front hopping but am having real problems doing it. I'm putting this down to incompetence on my part rather than front/rear suspension setup. I'll have a look at the rear shock and see if that makes a difference. How's it configured on your Sherco? I've never even looked at the rear shock to date. So many things to do, so little time to do them... Thanks, Rob.
  13. Thanks for this. The next stage is trying to work out what it all means, how to apply it to my bike and how to test it out. No real sections or test tracks anywhere near me (Central London). Rob,
  14. Being somewhat heavier than the 10st gods who compete, I was wondering about changing the front fork springs to something a little chunkier. What are peoples thoughts on this?
  15. Yipeee, I've suddenly got a pass out for the Saturday. Not having a TMX nearby I'm trying to find a trial for Saturday. Area is London (ha!) or South East, basically anywhere within 70m south of London. Any information greatly appreciated. Rob.
