    Honda Tl

Hello , Hope you TL 125 experts can help, I have a TL 125 engine stamped TL 125 SE 101140, Its also stamped 220 at the rear of the barrel and HM 1B on the front of the barrel. Under the head its stamped 383 E 4. And by the filter nut its stamped 438. It has a spacer casing and a wide flywheel, and a 5mm approx thick spacer to increase the stroke, I believe its a Honda modified engine and I hope to swop it for a tatty 1979 Bultaco the Bultaco owner is keen on the deal but Im not sure if my engine is genuine i dont want to be accused of selling/swopping something its not. Many Thanks John
  4. Thanks Mike I think I will try that combination first, It was just the fact its a 220 engine so didnt know if perhaps the gearbox had been modded as well, like the rs200 or golner bikes. I havnt got it running yet to try but i think setting off at standard is always a good starting point.
  5. Hello Andy I had one of these Hondas a few years ago I will try a look out some photos and get the good lady to post them. from memory it handle very well Im sure the steering head angle had been steepened and the swinging arm shortened. I do remember that the tank had been cut in half and a strip removed to narrow it down then welded and filled with copious amounts of body filler. The carb manifold was made from what looked like steel water pipe or conduit pipe as you could still see the thread on it, and brazed to achieve the correct kick out to clear the bottom of the tank as the motor had been lifted not sure by how much though, it also had a large rear sprocket as it was a little over geared but it was brilliant to ride across the open fell and I never struggled through any bogs The mudguards were the black plastic VF type and a little brittle If memory serves. I think my Jeffries went to that collector in France, hope this helps and if any Honda nuts read this Im building a 220 fraser and Im looking for the Seeley type stainless silencer if any one can let me have a contact number I would appreciate very much , regards John.
  6. Thanks for that ,I suppose they are better kept standard, being used as a later twin shock ,I think I shall lookout for a Seeley or Miller type frame and put a Villiers into the DMW. Thanks again John
  7. Hello , I was wondering if the DMW frame with fuel in top tube would be pre 65 eligible.Or Would it be in the special class, even If it had a cub or C15 motor in it thanks John.
  8. Hello I have a Honda TL the motor is stamped TL125 E but i believe the engine is a 220 as its stamped that at the base of the cylinder. my question is what gearing should I use, the recommended TL 125 set up which I think is 11 front 58 rear or go for the tlr 200 set .(cant remember off hand that set up) I dont want to spend £60.00 on the wrong sprockets if some one has the ideal combination I think i will use the 428 chain. I dont want to start stripping the gear box to count teeth either. I also require a silencer and like the look of the seeley type are they still available the stainless ones that used to be on Ebay, A Sammy Miller type will take too much work to fit as the frame has very little room between shock and tyre Many Thanks John.
  9. Hello Ive managed to snap off the choke lever mount off the magura clutch master cylinder on my 125 scorpa four stroke any Ideas as to where I can buy a new one as all i can find are the whole master cylinders at 150 pounds a bit steep as i only need the cover or would anyone know if any other models may fit Husaberg and ktm types with the hot start lever look similar but dont want to buy if they differ, Thanks John.
  10. Thanks Andy , I shall measure up and see what the wear limits are. Ive stripped the carb and it has the larger pilot jet fitted etc but the round plastic I think its some sort of baffle was lying in the bottom of the float chamber and when I fit it to the main jet it just slides up and down do you know if it is held some how or even which way up it goes as its slightly umbrella shape. Thanks for the previous answer john.
  11. Hello Can anyone tell me what the diameter of a 143cc Scorpa piston is please, or if that isnt possible the diameter of a standard 125 piston Thanks John
  12.
