Thanks Bo drinker and John H. I posted a pic of the chain tensioner but could not get a good one,it is on the swingarm though I hope this helps ??? I did lower the pegs and moved them rearward 1/2". When I rode it in stock trim I knew immediately that for me it would need to be done. A free (well almost) easy modification. The bike feels less top heavy, handles and turns much better !!! I am still torn between the 200 and 240,...each have their place ! http://[/img]
  3. WOW beautiful !!! SWEET JOB !!!

Thanks Glenn, Phil. Rode the conversion bike this weekend in the proper class ( modified vintage ) and it was a total hit !!! The bike performed incredible, not a issue and handled like a modern bike...I know, I know it kinda is Fired up the 200 as well to try it out in a few sections. Also was phenomenal, a light lil billy goat !!!

I just finished the 200 this weekend and I must say ( at this point ) I'm liking the 200 better than my 240. Unbeleivable power and will go anywhere in any of our vintage events with less weight, lower seat height, and tighter turning. A blast to ride,....hats off to the designer of these bikes. In my opinion they were truly ahead of their time ! Here are a few pics, hope you enjoy ! Happy Easter !
  7. Hi Rosey, I missed your question on the front mudgaurd. Yes it is off a 300 /301. I found a guy here in the states who had a OEM 240 rear mudgaurd, badges and a OEM 300/301 front mudgaurd. I'm sure most of you have seen the 240/200 "copy" front mudgaurds from "In Motion Bultaco" if not check them out, they look NICE ! I have one on the way !!! The 200 is almost done and will post pics soon....... Hope all is well. Gary
  8. Hi Rosey. Yes the shocks were on reversed, ( sounds better than backwards ) When I got the bike I did a full service including changing the oil in the shocks. When finished I knew something was not right and rotated them before riding. Jeez,...I can't get anything by you guys
  9. Opps,..I forgot one small detail. The bike is actually a 1990 247. I could not find any "247" decals for the tank but found a complete "305" kit. Yes Lee, the swing arm is off a 300 but had to be lenghtened 50mm at the rear so it was the same length as the stocker and move the shock mounts back too. If you look close you can see it. Good eye too on the subframe, as I was lucky to find a steel one from a coach. Rode the bike again yesterday and it is a joy to ride.
  10. Thanks Fella's and no sweat on the get together . Glen,..of course you can bring your fidy and trials bike. We have a few cool spots to bicycle too ! Thanks Scoobydo,... the 300 is all original ( except for the bars and panels ). I took the OEM's off and put on some rider bars and panels. The 240 I restored last year. The 200 should be done soon !
  11. Here's a few pictures of my Fantic,...Hope you enjoy ! http://[/img] http://[/img] http://[/img] http://[/img] http://[/img]
  12. Hi Metisse, if you read my post #5, you'll see why this bike was built. I did not convert a "very nice looking" bike,...It was cosmetically a wreck when I got it. I neither wish to "scalp the aircooled monos or take advantage of original twinshocks". I would not try to compete on this bike in a standard TS event. That was never my intent, only to test my fabrication, and compete against bikes of it's own kind. I have twin shock bikes that I compete on ( in the proper class )and in my opinion, one can only ride "any" bike to his ability.
  13. Hey Glenn, thanks much,I figured you'd like it....It's always a pleasure chatting with you and would be a blast to ride with you too !!! You can come up to NY anytime and stay here, tons of places to ride and an event pretty much every weekend. Get your 240 dialed in and c'mon up !!! Rode mine today, (still smiling) and can't wait for the 200 to get done (2 more weeks). Will try and post some pics of the 240 and 300.............
  14. Well,.. when I bought the bike the rear linkage and shock were wasted, so this was a great donor, I was going to do a TY350 but I'm a Fantic guy I removed the upside down forks and replaced everything else with Fantic 300 parts and lenghtened the swingarm 50mm. We have events up here in NY that have a " modified " vintage class, as well as all the other classes too. Twin shocks, drum brakes, and an air cooled motor, after that anything goes. It's fun to see what people come up with. I know there will be some slack here, but this bike was NOT built to compete against "regular" twin shock bikes. It WAS built to compete against bikes in this class only. I do compete in "regular" (normal):)twin shock trials on a 240 and in modern too. Rode the bike today and it is unbeleivable. Had a blast on it and I'm glad it's done. 200 Fantic is next.
  15. Thanks Doug. Picture skills are getting better,..I guess.
  16. Well,...it's finally finished ! It runs and handles awesome, will give it a good work out tomorrow and post ! Enjoy ! Gary P.S. hope these pics come through !!! http://[/img]
  17. WOW,..That's BEAUTIFUL !!!!
  18. Hi All, I have a 240, 300, 301, a 245 b@st@rd bike ( drum brakes and twin shocked ). I just picked up a decent 200 this weekend and have to say I'm blown away at how much snort this lil 156cc engine makes !!!It's so light feeling and steers so nice ! I'll have to ride it back to back with the 240 (my favorite) or at least so far, when it is all freshened up !

    New bike time

I couldn't agree more. I had a 08 Rev 4t 300 and my friend had the 250. I liked the bike and it did me well but, I went down to TTC in 09 and rode the Evo and 2t and 4t back to back. I knew the 4t thing was over for me. I purchased a 10 Evo 290 the following year and will never go back. DG....Try the cocktail mix in your tranny sometime,...you'll love it !!!

    SWM 240 1984

Wow,...nice Jumbo's fella's !!! The bike is not for sale Barcota but you will have first shot if it does. The bike does not really get ridden that much. Only in one "very dry" event by Mike Komer (want to comment Mike )??? I've just played on it a few times. The bike runs and performs flawlessly,...the motor is one of the smoothest I've ridden. If I can figure out how to post a picture I'll put up a few of the before and after. Gary

    SWM 240 1984

WOW,....I'm not sure how or who posted this picture but that is my SWM ??? If I could figure out how to post a picture I'd post more................. Gary
  22. I just repacked my 'stock' silencer on my 240. The center is hollow and there is packing at both ends. I cut off both ends at the welds, then I used a torch to burn out the carbon and sandblasted the unit before I tigged it back together. I used Silent Sport to repack as my friend owns the company. The bike sounds as new and is snappier ! Pretty new to Fantics and all the posts I have read have been helpful, thanks. The bike is finished except for new badges and is the finest twin I've rode, ( O.K.,...my 84 SWM 240 is a pretty close second ! Will post a pic or two when the badges go on.
